If I am responsible for all the bad things my ancestors did, even if I don't know what they did, if I accept an inheritance, I must get credit for all the good things they did, even if I don't know what they did, right?

Isn't this absurd and unworkable in any way? This reminds me of the tree falling in the woods not making a sound if no one hears it.

In my case, I inherited about $5,000 worth of insurance and that's it. How many years do I do penance for that? Or am I also liable for the public school system and freeways and other benefits?

Really. I think Bruce Schneier, UK civilian, does more for the US democracy than AT LEAST 1 Joe Bloe who votes (or doesn't vote).

I have to agree with Karel. Everyone's ancestors did something to someone else. Yes, even Native Americans, they fought a LOT of wars against the Europeans. To say they rolled over and died without a fight is a disgrace to their memories. But, You do realize that more died to disease than war? And many were "absorbed" into society, and their culture ruined. Also, this discussion is pointless. I don't think people should be separated by race, because its a psychological tendency to associate with people like you, including race, hobbies, gender, etc...

Ok, these bastards came to my school. They COMPLETELY stereotyped the Asian community here, including me. The kids interviewed in the show are way different than what they show. Ok, so we get good grades. So what? Its because we are Asian? Model Minority? They completely disown the white kids, calling them dumb. What is wrong with CNN. The only person that made sense was the Filipino Guy. The Asian's absorb facts not challenge them is also ********. I always challenge what I learn, I never understood the point of memorizing a bunch of facts, that's what computers are for. But, they did not even listen to what he was saying. Seriously, is this what the media is coming to?

Racism is caused be ignorance. Don't be ignorant please!

Oh, and that "wind in the sails" is also ********. We feel a ton of pressure from our parents, its how we roll. And we are not stupid, we know good grades get us into college. Once again, "affirmative action" (aka racism) makes it much harder for an Asian to get into the same college as a Black student, even if the Asian is from the ghetto and the Black is from High Society.

People reading this unsavory topic might be interested to recall that a few years back a public official (In the Washington, D.C. area, I believe), was fired because he described a budget appropriation as "niggardly".

After an uproar and some explanation by English teachers, he was reinstated.

P.S.

1) I don't know any whites here in Southern California who use the word "nigger" for any reason. Though when I moved into this area (Agoura Hills) I happened to be near a super market phone booth (back when people didn't have cell phones!) and overheard some sort of white racist organizer (KKK?) calling people and telling them that "niggers" were moving into their neighborhood.

2) It was mentioned above that many Indians in the US died because of disease. It wasn't mentioned that one of the first instances of germ warfare I know of was used when US Army soldiers deliberately caused blankets infected with smallpox to be distributed to Indians, with wmd-like effects on the Indian population.
