Very customizable, and you have every ability to remove comments and such. Take a look at http://blogspot.com and look at the demo.

That's why this first one is a short test.

I'm not talking TWiT level quality.. I'm saying 'better than N8x0' quality. You're better off using your already-better equipment that you DO have laying around. You DO have a laptop or a desktop PC and at LEAST a headset or desktop microphone. Just those two things alone already put you one notch better than the N8x0's quality of audio. Using a good web browser (Firefox, particularly 3.5) with Talkshoe also both cost you an extra $0.

just another stupid idea: When I looked at my webpage today, I rememberd that I once created a show with an online TTS-engine - English TTS nowadays should be very good - and with a bit of background music it may sound like a real human... maybe use it for short news episodes to save lots of time. ;)

TTS never trumps even a mediocre quality human reading the same news. I would never de-evolve the quality down to TTS unless you REALLY want to simply automate to remove the human altogether for some reason. Certainly not something I'd want in a podcast.

I could probably help to create the blog ...

It would also be possible to connect your headset to your N800 via bluetooth or audio-in. This will improve the sound quality enormously.

Well.. there are some really good (commercial) ones. But I, personally, would prefer to listen to a good TTS-voice than to a human with a very strange accent, I think.
However, for a five minute episode and a documentary-like text, it would be acceptable.

I wasn't suggesting that anyone had to sound like a professional actor, I'm just saying that even professional actors rehearse stuff in advance to improve the quality of their actual performance.

However good your voice is, if you listen to recordings of yourself you can make your voice better.

Not really, the N8x0 has a limitation on the quality it can record at and the range that it records. Even when you use Bluetooth, you're not going to get a nice clean 44100Hz recording with a full range for audio. If you're going to record a podcast, first priority should go to sound quality THEN to the novelty. The last thing you want to do is make a podcast that isn't pleasant to listen to, even if it's informative with good content.

Google is a company, they founded their company on a search engine but the company has many products that aren't necessarily search related (google voice, google maps, etc.) but they do often try to tie the search engine to finding content on their other services. In this case, that would be an advantage and a boon to making the blog and podcast convenient to find.

Well, sure, but I don't trust them a lot, you know. And Google and privacy or copyright are themes itself.

It shouldn't be very difficult to let your voice sound professional. I really love to imitate radio or tv voices. ;)

Anyway, if the podcast should look like a professional radio-cast, you'll need such a voice. But if it should look like a normal talk, you just need your own voice.

Is any of that relevant to a blog you want everyone to read?

Near as I can tell, you own the copyright to your own blog even if it's hosted by blogger.com. (ref: http://www.blogger.com/terms.g Section 6)

"Google claims no ownership or control over any Content submitted, posted or displayed by you on or through Google services."

As regards to the podcast, linking to the podcast from the blog (the way we do at the Black Rock podcast) doesn't make it automatically part of the blog--you're just linking to it.

well... yeah, you're right. It should be ok for a blog. It's more if you use it for private issues. So... I won't give any private data to Google.

(But they'll porbably collect data from everyone who's visiting the blogg.)

No worse than hosting your site elsewhere, in that fashion. Hosting it on Yahoo, MSN or even on your own site will allow cookie tracking to occur with any similar cookies you might have elsewhere and so, for this particular project, you might be overreacting. :)
