I have read rumors that a kernel patch could fix this, but its just something I read. So this leaves out two possibilities for being able to use the PS3 controller with the N900, right?

1. Pair it with your PC with your PCs Bluetooth ID spoofed
2. Pair it with your PC using the N900 as a USB bluetooth adapter

Does other USB gamepads require a Host / Slave relationship, or?

The reason I am wondering about this because me and a friend who just ordered each our N900 device (we will get it next week) are planing on making a homebrew gamepad for the N900 that is both portable and usable, we fist wanted to take our basis in the PS3 controller, but if it is impossible to make it work than that sucks

Yes,
all HID-Compactible USBGamepads act as slave

the BGP-100 is a good platform for a homebrew BTGamepad

i opend mine to take a look in it,
and what should i say.. no large pcb, small components

Thanks vietn900, but this is the other way, we are looking to controll n900 games with the ps3 controller.

With the last update to the Maemo SDK, is there any chances to get a Dualshock paired directly with the N900?

I sure hope so an ps3 controller paired with the n900 with all the emu's the n900 runs it would be a GOD send!

Me too but the xbox controller doesn't have bluetooth i had to buy the pc add on usb thing to use my xbox controller with my laptop since the plug and play usb cord don't work. Which it should since both are microsoft products.
