Re: N95 still better than N900

As a "tablet" by nokia, the n900 should not only surpass a "smart phone" in internet experience but also in media features which combined, are supposed to be the main focus of tablets.Currently, it only excels in the internet department. Wikipedia does not have this down as being marketed as a tablet. Nokia calls it a high performance mobile computer (that is a stretch of even the most enthusiastic n900 fan despite its amazing computing abilities) and the web def. says it's a mobile internet device AND a phone. So is the n95. |
Re: N95 still better than N900
I hate to say it because I love my N900, but if I have to go away for 3 or 4 days and I need to know I won't get caught out function wise.. I'm taking the N95 8GB..
Slingplayer, Trimble Outdoors, A flash that doesn't show up on pictures, Loud speakers are all things I miss when I travel with the N900. I'm hoping Sling & Trimble will arrive on the N900, the speakers just plain suck and I think I can fix the chrome reflecting the flash with some matt black paint.. I still rate the N95 8 GB as the most capable portable device out there. |
Re: N95 still better than N900
The call speaker volume on my N900 is woeful compared to the N95. Actually I can't even use speaker for calls cause I just can't hear. And it is not a faulty device because the speaker volume when listening to music or watching videos is actually decent.

Re: N95 still better than N900
I also used an N95 before I got my N900.
Actually, I think the speakers of my N900 are way better than my N95. They are much less noisy. Although I wouldn't expect anything from speakers of this size. And also, when listening to music with earphones, no hissing with N900. (Is it possible that I had a horrible N95, or I just have an extraordinary N900? :P ) The battery life is pretty much the same on both devices. They won't last too long if you use them much. Perhaps a day of heavy to moderate use is lucky enough. However, I notiched that music playback has much less impact on the battery life of the N900 than on the N95. And what is even more important: although the N95 was called a "multimedia computer" back then, the N900 provides a much better computer-like experience, which is by the way exactly what I expected from Linux. (I haven't had any experience with Linux at all previously.) |
Re: N95 still better than N900
I had the N95 8GB for 2 1/2 years and thought about changing it a couple of times, but no other phone was comparable (No Iphone, Omina HD, N96, N97, N86...). But N900 just got my eyes popped.
I have to say I'm a total Linux Noob, but I loved programming and I loved modding my N95, and maybe that gave the last push. I have only used the N900 for a week, but I'm completely happy with it. Yes, I miss some apps. So what? I have new ones to play with. And even I might undust my brain and try to programm something on my own. I don't even think comparing is fair for the N95. For me, they are two completely different leagues. And those small things where N95 is better are not comparable with those where N900 is WAY better. About photos, I haven't used the camera so much. But I'll take a couple with both phones and compare. I noticed speaker is a little low, but not really a problem for me. And I'm using a MP3 as ringtone, with full volume, and no cracklings. As Venemo said, battery is more or less the same. What else can I say? I love my N900 and will never go back to the N95. |

Re: N95 still better than N900
The speakes of the N95 8GB really rock the boat - I haven't heard anything like them in ANY other phone. Too bad Nokia did not pursue the same strategy with the N900.

Re: N95 still better than N900
Actually slightly off the path - but the speakers on the N810 (previous Maemo tablet) actually put even the N95 speakers to shame .. it was that good.
Its a shame the N900 couldn't carry the same N810 speakers - but size constraints (N900 is a smaller device) do put a limitation. |
Re: N95 still better than N900
Full Skype for Symbian is just recently released, I am trying it out now.
