Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend

I just installed the latest version of SiB 0.0.4-1.

- Smaller fonts in the video list. I can see more videos files at once!
- Nice and colorful background.
- Kinetic scrolling is back!!!
- The folder selection is back to the maemo file manager style.
(I actually really liked the previous style where I could save shortcuts to the folders on the left so when i remove a folder, I can quickly re-add the folder back instead of searching for it again. But it's fine either way.)

Anyways, thanks for plastik for the much needed update. =)

Thanks for the feedback, jakiman!

Actually I didn't change the file selection dialog at all, that's just the new Qt file selection dialog which has been aligned with the rest of Maemo UI ;)

Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend

Hello, I have conflicts in updating to 0.0.4-2 with libqt4-maemo5-network 4.6.2...

Is there anything I can do? There's another app requiring this lib...

I personally don't like the gradient background at all. I think it's ugly :)

Program itself is super though!

I love the new version! Kinetic scroll is awesome...I stop using SIB for a while because I can't stand scrolling in the previous version. Glad Plastik got kinetic scroll back it. Much thankx for your effort...>:D

Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend

btw Plastik, I have an idea for possibly a better gui style for SiB.
Have you tried the app called Petrovich? (it's an app to send files)

Something similar to that line..
I would love to have my favourite video folders listed on the left.
or even just be able to browse folders just like Petrovich but be able to set a default "main" root folder upon startup
This is because I have various folders for my videos. (Music videos, tv shows, movies, animation etc)
Then choose the video file from the right. (just like Petrovich)
(But on the bottom of that file, showing the remaining time, video size etc.)
Once you click on the video, it'll display a menu to Play / Resume.

No idea if this is possible, but Petrovich's interface is what i would really like for my video files. =)

Anyways, just an idea. hehe. (I'm not a programmer so I have no clue on how difficult/easy this is....)

I agree, the colors are a bit obtrusive. But in general I find the gradient quite helpful as it gives you some kind of feedback where you are in the list - if you have more than one screen of files ;)

Anyway, the next version will have darker colors that won't hurt your eyes :-D

I think the interface of Petrovich is really nice for its use case, but I believe most people only have a handful of videos on their mobile phone. Having a full blown file browser would be overkill, IMHO.

One big place I would find this useful is the videos recorded by the N900 camera. I always have around 50+ videos and I don't want them always listed in the main list with all the other videos I have. But at the same time, constant adding / removing of specific folders is not very convenient. Hence quick access to folders would be a godsend for such scenario. :D

EDIT:
removed the package via apt-get remove *libqt4-maemo5-svg*
it uninstalled fmrdsnotify too.
so there is a conflict between sib and this app.

then i did an apt-get autoremove which uninstalled all other qt-packages and some unused packages from an app-update i did before.

now sib is installing without any problem :)

I can't install SiB, it says "conflict with application package libqt4-maemo5-network"

I don't understand what you did, can you or someone help?

Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend

a) Nice, nice app. Simple, robust. Love it. Needed, too.

b) Small bug when sorting, the last file is first, then all the others. [cut babble about my own bugs]. Anyway, list is ZABCDE...Y. You get the point.

c) I would love to see a tab in there, for audio. Same setup, except it lists music. Could be quite handy for a replacement of the original player (not that it's that bad, but it can't hurt to have an alternative)

Again, nice app, no issues here.

ETA: Isn't QT4.6 banned from the repos temporarily? Maybe mine worked because I already had them over.
