Speak for yourself, Texrat.

I am a totally hyped-up fanboy/moderator that does nothing* about any of the hostility of the members here, neither for nor against Nokia.

I actually have utter disdain for both camps.

The Maemo division of Nokia has made some amazing devices, and I think they're some of the best mobile devices ever designed, but they're a bunch of people, just like us, and they make mistakes, sometimes big ones. They also make lots of choices that I don't agree with. But Nokia's a big company that has to make a profit for its shareholders, and they've got lots of focus groups who tell them what people really like, and I'm just some hyped-up fanboy/moderator guy, so what do I know?

The long, tedious threads where people yell at each other about how crappy the Nokia product they purchased is or how crappy some competitor's product is are really boring for me. They're all the same thread, over and over. I think the passionate defenders are worse than the trolls, because it looks to me like they're getting totally played... and, even stranger to me, like some kind of weird fetishists, they seem to actually like it. I mean, why would you keep arguing with trolls unless it turned you on somehow?

:) Thus spake the qole.

What, no questions after the merger?

here it is:
do you think listing the valuable things in maemo and maemo community to bring to meego, would help in making the change easier? :)

LOL, I think everyone is trying to figure out the fallout. 239 Messages already, not many "Facts".

But I guess most important question to get answered for the council is will their still be a community council?

I think it could... but that really comes down to who is actually managing this event.

THAT is the big one for me, certainly. I had planned on running again for mainly transition's sake. Now we have a transition of a different sort to consider, and the question I have for me personally is: am I relevant?

I'll of course let the other council members speak for themselves...

Seems that the damage to the community is already showing. I might not agree 100% with you but I hope the best for you dude... (gosh, it even sounded like a farewell)

until i know what the merger means and how it will affect me as a consumer and trainee coder i'm just going to keep reading.
personally hoping the changes are a benefit.

Yes, I have a lot of reading and synthesizing to do. I don't want to speculate further without a better understanding of what's going on.
