Well, that's not me, and that is also not true. I tried and failed to find information. There's no "very little time" required to find out if every feature you expect is there or not. The N900 does not support one of the most usual ways to transfer contact information over Bluetooth to a hands free device. It's the closest thing to a standard that isn't officially a standard. That it would not be compatible with my car HU was impossible to find out without buying one and trying it for myself. I had an idea that it might not be, because I have that experience with other products, but there was no amount of searching that could give me the answer unless I started to study ALL the bluetooth protocols to find out which one used to be used to transfer contact information over bluetooth. Infact, the only answer if it was compatible or not, on the internet, exists on this site. And I wrote it. To myself. It is plain hogwash to claim that people can only blame themselves for not getting info when they would need to use years of searching to find out about all the standard features in an average smart phone. There are lots of people coming here, complaining that things they expected weren't there. If they had cause to expect it to be there, I really don't think it's right to tell them to blame themselves. If 99.9% of all phones on the market has a feature, and one of the most profiled, biggest contenders doesn't, it really isn't unrealistic to expect that this feature would be in the phone. However, if they just realize that it has no MMS and this is their complaint, then maybe they should have read at least one review. Also, what not a single pro-N900 person on this forum seems to remember... The customer is always right. There's no requirement to read up on all features before you buy a camera/phone/condom. If a lot of people expect a feature and it's not there, the product is less than optimal. |

Re: Returning my N900
Yes, it did. However, my N810 charger is in rough shape - it bent easily - and I have always used a standard USB wall charger on it. Which does work on the N810 but not N900.

The information about the Nokia N900's shortcomings and strong points "just does not exist"!?!?!?! <rant> Are you f%$king serious . . . . YOU, in your own post, said the magic word "GOOGLE" If you don't know about Google by now than you had no business even thinking about buying the N900 in the first place. Google - "Nokia N900" - You know what you will get !!! 26,300,000 Results for nokia n900. (0.19 seconds) Add the word REVIEW to the end of it (AS THE SEARCH ENGINE FREAKING SUGGESTS FOR YOU!!!! ) and you will still come up with ... 18,400,000 Results for nokia n900 review. (0.21 seconds) Jesus Christ 18 Million Reviews in under HALF A SECONDS and you people didn't read NOT EVEN ONE OF THEM!!!! Come on now people, it's 2010, we are living in the information AGE!!!! When I "RE-Google" these terms to get the total number of result - ALMOST EVERY LINK ON THE PAGE WAS PURPLE!!!! Meaning that I had visited them before - As a matter of fact I spent a little over a week reading every review and watching every youtube video about this phone ... and you know WHY????? Because not ONE FREAKING REVIEW SAID THIS PHONE WAS PERFECT - ALL OF THEM SAID IT WAS AWESOME BUT....XYZ EVERY REVIEW SAID IT DID WORK IN PORTRAIT . . . . I bought it anyway EVERY REVIEW SAID IT WAS MORE OF A COMPUTER AND LESS OF A PHONE . . . . I bought it anyway EVERY REVIEW SAID IT'S RESISTIVE TOUCH SCREEN WAS A LITTLE LESS RESPONSIVE THAN THE IPHONE & OTHERS. . . . I bought it anyway I SAW PLENTY OF YOUTUBE VIDEOS WHERE THE REVIEWER LOOKED STUPID AS THE PHONE WOULD GET A LITTLE BIT STUCK FROM TIME TO TIME . . . . I bought it anyway MOST REVIEWERS ARE STILL MADLY IN LOVE WITH IT . . . . EVEN IN LIGHT OF IT'S SHORTCOMINGS SOME DIDN'T LOVE IT ENOUGH TO USE AS A PRIMARY BUT MANY SAID THAT THEY CAN'T STOP USING IT JUST FOR THE INTERNET / MULTI-TASKING FEATURES .... But the best part is that even those reviewers who would try to HATE it could not help but to go on and on about its great features and generally ultra responsive and intuitive User Interface. Even after all the lack of / BETA features (aka no full portrait support) I still spend the $650 and bought myself the N900 Rather than buy it on eBay or Craigslist, for $500-$550, I went out to the Nokia Store just in case the lack of features was too much for me I had 14 DAYS to return it . . .and get a FULL REFUND! Well it is day 10 and I am pretty happy with the phone - IT IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST PHONE OS I HAVE EVER USED - BUT I DO FEEL LIKE I BOUGHT A BETA DEVICE & FOR $650 THAT KINDA SUCKS!!!! I have contemplated returning it but what am I going to buy after this???? What is the upgrade after a N900??? Before this my last smart phone was a HTC G1. A Nexus One is just going to feel like a re-run of the G1 minus the keyboard. :( Curse you Nokia . . . . I wish I never bought this stupid beta phone . . . . then I wouldn't know what I am missing! </rant> |
