happy camper here.

no OTA luck so tried NSU about twenty times with "connection failure" errors before giving up. later on, tried ota again and all went well.
Didn't bother with emmc flashing, just the plain upgrade. restored from backup, downloaded all my apps again and everything is working fine.

Overall, seems a bit more responsive.
Not sure if I'm loving the new virtual keyboard, but otherwise, I'm happy! :D

Overall improvment BUT am i the only one missing the "search" function in the application manager?
And the browser fonts seem much smaller then before, even on highest setting.

I have no idea what a lot of you are talking about.

What did you expect, fairy dust? 1.2 was a bugfix release. There's a list of bugs that should be fixed (and they are), and a few enhancements that were easy to do and a braindead monkey could implement them (type to search, who sent that message, etc), plus, promised QT and whatever stuff I don't understand like libStuff.

It delivered like Death itself. It works fine, bugs are fixed, leaks are plugged. Also, some stuff was in development, so they left it in, like rotation and a few previews. As an added bonus, some stuff is way faster, like MicroB, media player UI, camera.

How exactly is this bloatware? Or a disappointment? Is it not exactly as listed months before release?

Try CTRL+SHIFT+R in any app and it rotates. Maybe, it is an easter egg and a hint at the next update. Just like it was with the browser prior to pr 1.2.

This does not work on My N900 (version 10.2010.19-1; keyboard: "Suomi, Svenska").

I got another small update at about 2 a.m. today California time when I updated using App Mgr. Haven't seen anyone else mention it. I haven't seen any changes.

I waited for the PR 1.2 for a long time and I think that brought some functionality to the N900 and resolved some errors but I think it is not enough. I miss some things:

video calling
create folders in the menus
voice navigation
Voice Recognition

I have a friend who has a blackberry storm and can do what I do with the N900 and has many more features

Video calling works fine -- I've talked to Moscow from Calif using Skype to Skype, could see the twins!

The other side has to have an active webcam and up-to-date Skype.

It is definitely not enough, there's at least a 1.3 in the making. Hoping for more.

It was an interesting read up until you said Storm has the same features plus. This is simply wrong.

The list of hardware differences is humongous. I'll just tap:

Screen
BBS: 360 x 480, 3.25 in (83 mm)
N900: 800 x 480, 3.5 in, transreflective TFT

Camera
BBS: 3.2 MPx, 480 x 352 video
N900: 5.0 MPx Zeiss. 800x480 video

The list is extensive. N900 is superior in every way, save for a few where they both hit the technology limit. Plus, FM radio, transmitter, TV out, hardware keyboard, the works.

As for software, We're open. They have a wider feature set in apps, but next time he's hassling you, remind him that your phone doesn't revert to stone age when blackberry servers are down.

Well, I kid, partly, but N900 is a better hardware platform with an open if young OS (that will probably never grow up on this doomed device), whereas BBS is a mature product. Not that it doesn't have its quirks, but your friend probably never advertises the lack of decoder support, poorer browser, lockups, but boasts Office.

As soon as we can edit a spreadsheet we're going to take the battle to them.

I did a video call over Google Video Chat, was working pretty nice, including N900-to-N900. Handled poor WIFI surprisingly well.
