You're no hero. All you are is another clueless troll trashing Nokia, who at least had the guts to risk releasing the N900, Maemo/MeeGo and the community who works so hard to support it with help, info and apps you get for free! Another guy who didn't understand what he was buying and still doesn't. You just don't get what this is all about. Those who do are pleased with their purchase. Now, to get back on-topic - sorta, at least...the Anandtech guy gets it. Finally, a reviewer who can see beyond app counts, ringtones and spec sheets! The N900 is not about app stores, CPUs or AMOLED screens! It's about a concept! Or am I just fulla beans? |
Re: Anandtech reviewed the N900 and loved it!!
-Mediaplayer has major playlist editing flaws and no equalizer
I have never used playlists or equalizers, and the media player has successfully replaced my iPod touch. -Maemo Ovi Maps = **** compared to S60V5 Ovi Maps 3 Works pretty well, found me and directed me when i was lost. -No functioning Application Store i just bought angry birds pack 1 -No commercial third-party applications or games Offscreen, rovio? -No real Portrait Mode support True -No adequate usable Office applications openoffice? -Principally no real first or third party support i see hundreds of apps, but nokia dont care anymore |

The marketing people from Nokia don't ever visit this forum, just some people who like to help the community about stuff. Quote:

Aside from being a shitty simile: It's really up to the user (driver or N900 end user) to: a) drive within legal speed limits b) have the knowledge to ascertain what equipment is needed for a given task and aquire said equipment ie. don't buy a Ferrari if you need a Honda c) take your car (N900) to the f'in mechanic (Nokia/place where you got it) if it's broke beyond usability. If you buy a pair of pants 2 sizes smaller than you need, do you think people at the bus stop feel sorry for you and your squished nads? Trolling around here won't fix your speedometer. While you do have a few legitimate points they're lost in BS like below: Quote:

Does it have shortcomings? Yes it does! Does it bother me that the platform seems largely abandoned by Nokia? Hell yeah, it's frustrating. Do I spam every thread around here with my issues? No, because if anyone can make me get the most out of my toy it is this community, not Nokia. Why act like an *** to the people who can help you? |

Re: Anandtech reviewed the N900 and loved it!!
Hmm, i'm in sort of a cell phone limbo and have been considering my next move. Android or Maemo or wait for Win Phone 7 but i need something NOW. Played with a Nexus 1 and liked it except for pitiful battery life and can't see screen when outside in sun.
N900 flew by my radar seeing as it's price has dropped a bit less than $400 but having been duped by my terrible experience with the N800 and N810 devices i might just hold off. It would be nice if Nokia hadn't shut down their NYC store so i could go fondle it in person and see the good bad and ugly. If it's no different from the N800/N810 but with a phone slapped on top mainly, then i'll pass. The N800/N810 left such a bad taste in my mouth when i had them that i swore off Maemo. Looking at the app store, there's not much there at all. What do do... |
