I don't see why the battery status feature wouldn't still work.
Unless Sony deliberately locked-it-off for non-Sony BT headsets.

You wouldn't need a dongle if you used a non-Sony BT headset.
The PS3 already has "standard" (I'd assume) BT integrated.....

It'd be worthwhile looking into at the very least........

To answer your question......
The Sony BT headset should work with N900, so long as it implements standard BT.
Even if it's not 2.1 EDR, the N900 will be backwards compatible.

I was able to make the Klipsch S2m earphones with mic work with N900.
Executed
and modified the the Jack Function to value Headset.

Tested the mic in recorder application. There is no status bar icon though and this has to done everytime the earphones are plugged-in. Maybe a script will help.

i use sonyericsson MW600,which is the Best Bluetooth Headset if u r a music junky,it has nice screen for detail power status,mo.number,pairing etc(does not show name instead number in N900),built in FM,awesome eairphone,multipoint(i use my computer,my sony HiFi and N900 with this),plus all buttons u need,long Battery life then it's rival and it accept N900 charger.i like default headset which comes with N900 but it's cords design is weak n within months i lost oneside of sound then it's basicaly useless for music,hope nokia will makes more strong joints in thier headset just like Shure Headset.

Note, when u reboot or turn on ur n900 it autometical connect but act as a remote only first,u just have to edit,disconnect then connect in bluetooth setting(status bar)

I got the nokia HS-43 wired headset from Amazon.com. Very comfortable, great stereo sound and the buttons actually work with the n900!

Intresting... Anybody confirmed whether this is why it happens?
I also had a headphone die on me last month. All the symptoms were exactly the same. Also I pull out the headphones a lot, while the music is still playing. Hmmm...

Anyway, i gave my headphone to Nokia Care, they send away somewhere and I got a brand new headset after 10 days (ten days!). The thing is, I want to know the validity of the warranty period for the headset. Will it only be the lifetime of the phone or is it the validity of the new headset from the day I got it?
Nokia says that headphones warranty is from the date of purchase of phone and not headphone.

I think its happening too many times for it just to be a coincidence. So yeah, guess we can confirm thats whats happening...

i have been trying to get a set of nokia n8 WH 701 headset working but no good even tryed your setting but nothin . this is real bad of nokia you should be able to use any headset you want a bloody joke !! :eek:
