Hmmm.

I didn't use those directions, I did it with a combination of a bootcd for partitioning, N900 for linux-ing, Windows 7 64-bit for filemunching, and Snow Leopard for flashing. I need to get a life, I know.

Anyway it sounds like you have the partitions the same size and format, right? 100MB fat32 and 2GB (or so) ext3. If you have that, all you need to do is unzip the rootfs archive to the ext3 partition, flash, and configure bootmenu.

The way I did the rootfs is very convoluted. The rootfs tbz2 file is archived twice, and the N900 doesn't have the ability to do both of those. So I unzipped it using 7zip in Win7, then copied the file to the N900's internal memory. On the N900 I mounted the sdcard's ext3 partition, cd'ed to the ext3 partition and unzipped it there.

I followed the regular instructions for the bootmenu, then flashed. I did it a dumb way, I know. Sorry.

Anyway, the only way I can for sure help you is to make sure you understand all the general steps: partition the card, unzip the rootfs, install and configure bootmenu, flash. If you don't get these directions (or in my case, if you lack the right os or are not thinking straight or both), then follow a different set for the stage you are stuck on. If I were doing it again, I'd follow the directions on the OP of this topic.

I may not be able to help you with this for a while. We're leaving town tomorrow and I don't know if I'll be able to get back on.

Yeah, you've got to unzip the rootfs archive on to your new ext3 partition.

You have to have the rootfs archive downloaded to a spot you can access from Linux. You also have to have the new ext3 partition mounted.

If I were doing this again, I would boot to the linux livecd, like Mint, and open a terminal.

I always had mine mounted to /mnt. I don't remember what the livecd uses, you'll have to check. So this is what I would type if I were doing this:

cd/folderwhereIdownloadedtherootfs

sudo tar xjvvpf ../home/USERNAME/DesktopNITDroid-N900-0.0.3-1-Demo.tbz2

That last command is copied directly from the OP. It works from the livecd xterm, but not from the N900 xterm.

Sorry I have to go to bed. Someone else will be along in the morning.

Good luck, man. BTW, are you the guy who started the pininthemap thing? That's a cool map. There's nobody within like 500 miles of me, though.

Thanks a lot. Came back after 2 weeks no internet (was moving) I did read the 2 tut's, made my own way through this and bam. Android on dualboot with oc options. BIG THX to all who made this possible so far.
This wifi bug is a pain in the a. I tested about 5 times with rebooting, no connection. Scanning worked, but could not connect. Now after a other reboot, im connected from the beginning :)

edit : Its the only way that the n900 gets wifi. When i try to reconnect manualy,..... no way. Anything i could try ?

Where does it say there's no SD card? If you give us the steps you have taken and which tutorial you're following and at what point you get the error, we'll be better able to help out.
