You can do the Maps-folder manually too, see my post #46 on this thread. |

I think it is possible to arrange the apps/folder in a particular order (which may be added later to ApMeFo). But it can't be done using the built-in Maemo function while using ApMeFo. I hope I understood your problem correctly. |

Also, you can see from the order, that e.g. Calculator might not be where it should be but that's based on it's original .desktop-name (osso-calculator.desktop, if I remember right) so that's why it seems to be in wrong place. So no, system doesn't arrange the icons by their alias (e.g. osso-calculator -> Calculator), it arranges them by their .desktop-name, which is, in my opinion, correct. So until someone tells us what code to use to reorder our files inside folders we're stuck. Again, this is based on my knowledge and I'm no coder. |

I just think that jbw89 was trying to re-arrange the folders (and/or apps inside them) using the "press and hold, then move" system introduced with PR1.2. When you do that, it resets hildon.menu and does not use the folders (maps) anymore, so all apps are on one screen instead of in folders. |
Re: [Announce] ApMeFo (beta 0.9-3) - Create custom folders in your Application Menu
Hey there! Thanks for taking over while I'm gone to everybody who's answering questions!
I'm not yet back up again, but getting better, so I hope I'll be able to chime in with a new build tomorrow. Originally I planned to implement some of the more bug fix like suggestions (sort, multi-select), but I guess first of all I'll add a simple diagnosis tool so I can better help with fixing the problems described. Also, can anybody please confirm whether the hildon bug does afflict menus edited with ApMeFo the same way Catorise/MyMenu menus do? It doesn't on my device, but it seems like results might vary. (Would be great if it didn't, as then it might be possible to implement the same "workaround" with Catorise/MyMenu, too.) Before I go back to bed (and to wallowing in self-pity ;)) again, here's a short checklist for those who cannot get it to work: 1) Did you hit the activate button? While folders will be visible inside ApMeFo, without activating the system nothing will change in your application menu. 2) Are you using Catorise/MyMenu? This will not completely break ApMeFo's functionality, but for some strange reason it will multiply some of the icons into your main menu. 3) Did you use only standard letters? For some strange reason it seems like during clean up I've lost the error message when non-Ascii characters are used. Thanks again for helping me out and sorry for "disappearing" at such a crucial time. :( |
