once again I love the progress and it keeps getting better and better. Thanks to gogol and adisojon for the added features and gui options! you guys are all great!

I don't know if I will implement things exactly the same way he did but I am taking his listed UI deficiencies seriously and am hoping to have fixes in for 1.0.5.

Unfortunately Extras Assistant seems to be down so I can't promote 1.0.4-5 for people to use while I develop on 1.0.5

Have you tried going into the menu and selecting "New Login"? I'm not sure but when I played with it last night it seemed like it was working alright except it wouldn't auto-detect when a connection came alive again and reconnect.

The second one I have not been able to repeat that problem. The first one I can repeat about half the time.

Hopefully some changes I've made in 1.0.5 will help with this

What is the particular issue with the messaging UI (besides being very small which I'm fixing in 1.0.5)?

Also have you continued to see any functionality or stability issues?

A question I have is about the time it takes to login, time from clicking dialcentral till i was logged in and able to make a call was exactly one minute... this was with nothing else running. Then I click on my tear bookmark for my google voice inbox, time from button click till i could dial out was about 22 seconds...and this is the full version webpage, not the mobile. Why does it take so long?

I have had similar experience as this user but could not recall exactly how I did it. At one point I was actually sent an sms and it never was registered in google voice or the person I sent it to. Again it was after playing with things for a while so I could not give you an idea as to what it was.

Re: Dialcentral 1.0

Epage - so far it's working great. I don't think I would have had this problem had I followed the instructionsi n the first place :/ No more issues have happened yet, and it appears to be working great.

The messaging "issue" I guess is that the messaging window just scrolls forever if you have a full blown conversation with somebody via SMS. Then when you double tap that to bring it up and reply, there's the whole conversation history too in there so you have to keep scrolling and what not just to see what they said last.

As of right now I just hold messages, double tab the most recent message, scroll down, read, hit SMS, and reply. I'd prefer it to be more like a phone such as just showing the last message, or maybe having an option to show the full history or not.

Don't get me wrong epage, I'm NOT busting your balls what so ever, I'm in love with this handy little app. I've been texting all day with it instead of my phone (a full keyboard is just so much nicer!)

Also, is reading a message in DC supposed to mark it as read on the GV site? I know it stops the LED from flashing, but so far the only way I've had a message marked as read is when I reply to it or load up the site, just curious. It's not that big of a deal, I reply to 99% of my sms's.

Just refreshing the message tab (not even double clicking on the conversation) makes my message set as "read". I went to my GV to check and see if it did. Also the LED does not come up again until a new message arrives. So it works for me. Thanks Epage

Makes sense. I don't text much so I don't have long conversation histories. It shouldn't be too hard to have it start scrolled to the bottom by default and should help things out

As for marking things read, I'm not sure what Google's criteria are for me to cause it to happen by default.

Have you tried the fix previously posted?

Also have you upgraded to 1.0.4-5 to prevent this from happening again (once fixed manually)?

Re: Dialcentral 1.0

The scrolling to the bottom thing would work great, or what about inverting the order? Say most recent thing said on top instead of on bottom? Another idea for the Messages UI would be instead of have it show the whole conversation amongst the people, have it expandable. That way if you're having quite a few heavy sms conversations with more than one person you don't have to scroll forever in each direction, etc. Not really a big deal to me, I don't ever get THAT heavy into it :P

I'm curious if other people's messages get marked read on the GV site if they just refresh the DC Messages tab. Would help me figure out if I'm still broken somewhere, or if it's a hit or miss sort of thing. Again, thanks a TON epage!

Don't know if this has been asked yet. A quick search didn't show anything (at least with the key terms I tried). But is it possible to implement a delete SMS/Message feature?

1.0.4-5 has (until just now) been in extras-devel which is where you would have gotten any other previous build of 1.0.4. I was trying to promote it last night but had issues with the site. I just now promoted it.

Do you mind posting or sending me a PM with your alarm_queue.xml file?

Yes, you are correct in .4-5 selecting New Login works. No need to restart the app like before. I also noticed I can recreate this issue by simply disconnecting and reconnecting to the same access point.

Re: Dialcentral 1.0

I might have an idea to "speed up" the loading, operation of the application. When you first open the app and the dial button is blanked out, allow us to type a persons number in and blank out the sms button as well. By the time we type the number in the login process should be about complete. I know a lot of people use contacts, but this is a good option if you know the number you are calling.

Thoughts?

Re: Dialcentral 1.0

I've timed my DC start up time over and over from when I tap the icon to the dial button turning green. It has always been 16-19 seconds. That is not some horrific long time to me. That is also getting all the info from GV not just the inbox stuff. I have not problem with the start up time. Maybe it is your tablet(like what other things are running in the back ground) or your internet connection. I have a N800.

its not that the program is slow, just seems like it could be something that can be changed easily (I hope) and can slightly improve the usability.

It has been mentioned before in this thread about how slow it is. Here is what Monkey said like 2 pages back

I don't know what he is talking about. Maybe it is his N8x0 or internet connection. because my DC only takes 16 seconds or so to load. When I use tear to go to my GV mobile inbox it only takes 8-10 seconds. But I really like the UI of DC better than the GV mobile page. Even after zooming to 140 percent, things are small and not as easy to manage.

I am currently going through the posts adding them to the project tracker. I avoided using it since the feedback was so lightweight I felt I'd never view it. With the pace of things now I'm thinking that will be the preferred solution

Re: Dialcentral 1.0

Hey, I don't know if this is something new and exciting or old and boring, but I came across something just now.

An hour or so while ago, I decided I wanted to reflash my tablet. I looove that minty fresh tablet feeling!

So reflash I did, and when I reinstalled DC 1.04-5, I got an error, "no module named dbus".

Well, I know I was running 1.03 be4 I installed 1.04-5 earlier tonight, so I uninstalled 1.04-5 and installed 1.03.

1.03 worked fine. But still, I just got my notifier, and I missed it already....I wasn't about to go down without a fight.

So I Gaegle-searched the error, and came across a 2+ year old post about some battery status app. Somebody got the same error, and it was recommended to him that he needed to install python2.5-dbus.

So I gained root, and apt-get installed python2.5-dbus, and then reinstalled DC 1.04-5.... and [madden]BOOM![/madden] it works fine now.

I hope that's useful. If not, then sorry for wasting your time.

*phbt* Real Life is overrated. Dialcentral is WAAAAAY more important than anything you could do in real life.

Now how about that home applet for making DialCentral calls? And make me a sandwich while you're at it.

edit: I'm going to be watching the request tracker for you to add "Make me a sandwich".

DialCentral is in Extras, right? Why not here:

https://bugs.maemo.org/enter_bug.cgi...ication=Extras

Ah, it's only in Extras-Devel:

http://maemo.org/packages/view/dialcentral/

People can always contribute bug reports there ^ , by clicking on a package version and adding their report to the comments. Or, you could contact Andre and/or Jeremiah to find out how to add your app to the Maemo Bugzilla.

That is a great idea. I'll have to look into what is required to get into the Maemo Bugzilla. If it requires fremantlizing and testing on fremantle (Lack of testing is why I never promote on Chinook and fremantle) than that might be kind of difficult. I've tried to setup scratchbox in the past a couple of times and have failed. I'm waiting for a virtual machine image to be available.

So, i just got a very weird thing. I had my alarm set on 5. I thought that was too low, so i set it to 1. it still wasn't giving me notifications, so i was going to set it back to 5 and look for other reasons.

instead of the up arrow i hit the down arrow, accidentally set it to 0. Then all hell broke loose.

On the bottom of the screen, I have an error thats "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: the name com.noki..." And i can't get it to display the rest.

The alarm is permenently set to off, with zero is the number.
Any help?

Edit: and by alarm i mean notification

Edit: Ran it in terminal. complete error is "name com.nokia.alarmd was not provided by any .service files."

Sad to say but I'm hoping you are not running the latest version. v1.0.4-5 should have value checks to prevent setting the value to 0.

The fix is in the following post

Suggestion. When in an sms conversation, it always starts with the first messages with a scroll bar. You should make it so default it displays the last messages.
