Or you could just go to a flagship store and pick it up right away when it's available.
As the other person mentioned above, flagship seems to get the devices first.

Thats my plan, im not even in rush to the N900 for some reason, when its out, its out and i will stroll into the Nokia store in W1 and enjoy. :p

Unfortunately no one has tracking number or credit card charges to go along with the press release. I dont think it is shipping yet. Perhaps this week. NokiaUSA's call center told me next week.

It is shipping. It is shipping from manufacturer to retailer. Once the retailers receive them, they then ship to us, the final customer.

I hope it arrives at our doors by Nov 19th atleast. My friend would be making the purchasing on my behalf and he would be leaving the US on this 20th to India where I would be collecting it from him.

Does anyone have any info or experiences from previous orders with Nokia.

Peter, not sure but would you have answer to this query?

Hi Peter. You are the head of marketing.
Do you know anything about the later release of the N900 in Sweden (and maybe other countries) because of the Sim issue?

I spoke to Nokia UK today, and was told that they are expecting to ship them out on the 20th, possibly the 19th, so looks like still 2 weeks to wait for me

They are shipping N900s with the sim issue, the fix will be in place via software update by the end of the year.

The product manager of Nokia Sweden has said that the release probably will be postponed to week 49.

Nokia Germany Hotline just confirmed the 25. November release date

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

According to the link I posted yesterday, it was reported that the phones left the production facilities over the weekend, hence they should have arrived at the destinations unless they sent them by ship!

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

Just received a message from Nokia Germany:
Quote:

Google Translation:

Thank you for contacting the Nokia Online Shop.

It is true that, as in the press release written, has begun the extradition of the N900.

This means that the devices are supplied at the time to leave the plant and wholesalers, as well as our own warehouse.

"The delivery has begun," thus does not mean that the deliveries took place at our end customers.

At the present time lies before us, no other retail ship date as of 25/11/2009.

Please rest assured that you will keep as a Nokia shop online customer the equipment as one of the first users in their hands.

Now we know how it works in Background, as soon as Nokia Online Shop gets the devices they will ship to customers. But as the devices are still not in their stock, they have no other plan than the 25th.
I believe, we will get it much sooner.

Venomrush 2009-11-11 10:33

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

All the dates 16th~20th Nov are plausible.

Nokia have already shipped the units out, resellers get them by the end of the week or early next depending on number of pre-orders. Handsets can then be fulfilled to the customers next week.

Brightpoint / Dangaard (Europe's largest mobile phone distributor) recieved its first N900s today.

I don't know when they will ship to retailers, but I can't believe they'll arrive any later than Friday. So, maybe we'll see the first shipments to customers on Saturday... Pre-orders arriving Monday?

Fingers crossed.

They wont start shipping Saturday (cost cutting) - Monday more likely!

That's horrendous! Week 49 = 2 weeks before Christmas!

I guess that's why there are different product codes, they're planning to ship it out at different time for each country? Hence there is no universal Euro product code.

This is a locally taken decision by Nokia Sweden. The reason is "that we want to make sure that the customers gets a good user experience from the start" according to Product Manager Klas Strom, Nokia Sweden. So while the rest of the world gets their N900's, Sweden will have to wait to week 49 or even longer for a simple software issue that affects a minority of the customers.

And this is for a device which has, since its inception, been geared toward tech-savvy customers, who would guessingly be able to figure out how to update the goddamn thing. Also, note that it's not even marketed as a phone - it's an internet tablet with a phone application as far as I've heard. I'm finding the decision increasingly hard to understand.
The launch-through-release part of the marketing of the N900 has been an absolute farce.

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

Well, I think this to do with the different keyboard layouts that are used all over Europe. For example the Quertz layout in Germany.

I totally agree with you! Why is it that Nokia have to wait. If its not good for everyone will they not allow selling to Swedish customers? No! people will still buy. Also, if Tre (3) simcards is an issue, this would also affect all 3 simcards from other regions. Nokia Sweden has to also realise there are other operators here Tele2, Telenor etc... The marketing and rollout strategy taken by Nokia Sweden does not totally justify their response. First post BTW!

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

Exciting times! I was totally awestruck about this when they introduced it, then later managed to play around with friends proto and I knew that is going to be my future phone! Now I've been selling whatever stuff has been collecting to the corners, but seems like I'll have to wait until price drops down a bit and maybe some find their way to second hand market (dunno why anybody would want to part from theirs really!)! Sucks to be student :P

Hope you guys get yours soon and you better share your experiences!!

I would also hope so, BUT ;) I just had a look at the N97 release:

- They announced shipping at the 2nd of june
- It arrived at my doorstep at the 18th of june (with express shipping)

So it took 16 days from 'we are shipping' to 'its here'. If I add that all up, I come out at the 25th pretty close. Plus this time I have 'normal' shipping (express never works in the first days of a preorder, grrr).
But that does not stop me from hoping and checking shop.nokia.com several times a day ;) ;)

Best regards,
Corwin

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

Ok, so i'm a UK pre-order customer. I just called the online shop support line and asked them when my order will be shipped and an American sounding operator said by the 19th November.

I asked why hasn't it shipped already when Nokia had sent a worldwide press release yesterday saying that orders had shipped. She seemed to have no idea what I was talking about and repated the the product will ship by the 19th Nov.

I then asked why my order details screen on their website said ship qty: 0 and backordered: 0. She repeated robotically that the only information they have is that pre-orders will be shipped by 19th Nov.

Well thats my contribution. I'm seriously holding back at having a rant at call-centre operators but what are you gonna do?

Welcome. :)

And I agree. From a customer perspective it is indeed a tad annoying to have to wait several weeks for a product just because other customers have problems with it. However, according to Mobil's quote, Klas Ström said they would probably delay the delivery, so it is not definite. I can understand they do not want to deliver to Three customers and I see it is a problem since they can't in all cases know which customers have which operator..
