i just got a copy of Paintshop photo X3 and i was playing with it a few days back
here is what i made, hope it help out if someone wants to create some wallpapers .

Those are awesome Helmy (especially the last 2 :P). Though sadly I don't have the font, I had to use Photoshop to make it, I can't seem to find the original or a copy anywhere online.

However I did just finish my 1st 7 wallpapers(I intend to make more), it's a 1mb~ zip file located on my Dropbox:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4567036/NITDROID_wallpapers.zip

I used a lot of brush files from Deviant Art, if you're interested in who's brushes were used, I've attributed the authors in a txt file located in the zip. If you redistribute any of these files remember to attribute the authors, they worked hard on these brush sets and deserve the credit! :)

Other then that, use as you see fit, and enjoy! ^_^

Re: [Android] Eclair NITDroid (WIP)

For those who don't want to fiddle with compiling and all that jazz, I uploaded the rootfs I used to boot android 2.1 on the N900.

http://nitdroid.loadsofspace.net/n90...oid-2.1.tar.gz

Use root to extract it to an ext3 partition on your card.

Only for testing of course. The backspace key is the "back", and the symbol key is the "menu". Had to map them to something.

Enjoy :)

my kernels only based on the latest linux-omap 2.6.33 git but with android drivers so i suspect it will have omap3 (n900) support aswell

I think that Android 2.1 is based on 2.6.29 kernel.
Should you use that kernel also in this port because there were some discussion how android parts are maintained and that is why they removed android part from mainline kernel?

I will have to check that. I'm still having issues getting my own kernel to even load.. how is everyone compiling the kernels here ? None of mine boot

I downloaded the kernel from the maemo 5 sdk, which gave me kernel_2.6.28.orig.tar.gz and kernel_2.6.28-20094102.3+0m5.diff

After extracting the kernel and patching it with the diff file I had a working kernel. From there I patched it with the android kernel patches.

Your situation is a little different from mine since your using the n810 with a mainline kernel. Maybe the original nitdroid_kernel.config will give you an idea of which one to use.

dj_steve 2010-03-06 14:09

Re: [Android] Eclair NITDroid (WIP)

yep looked at the config its based off 2.6.28. It has loadable module support so may be able to load modules to the kernel that way

ok i am a new n900 user willing to test anything on my device i supose i got to fill the 48 gb with something.do you think we can have a stable release of android on n900 soon? allways dreamed of android running on nseries tablets as i have had them all n900 being my current device.the main thing that i think is if it happens it should be a easy installation this will ensure instalation to the masses good luck i will be watching very close.

i am trying to get all sort of os-s on my n900 just to shut the f up my iphone friends and their constant response "it doesnt even have native mms support" (dont know why this is so important!?)

i am looking at those instruction for android and got scared :) i dont even know where to get bootmenu (cant find files in the garage)

anybody want to help the noobie? :)

ill leave a howto up to bdogg. as for getting a workingos etc running well thats going to take work.

has anyone got access to a full technical data doc for the n8x0 and n900 tablets showing what chips do what so i can try and find kernel modules for them/android edits

jutley 2010-03-06 15:57

Re: [Android] Eclair NITDroid (WIP)

can we have a working and not working list in each devices as updates come out make it look clean and easy to keep track of.and a easy to understand guide for instalations so even noobs can find it easy to follow.

Re: [Android] Eclair NITDroid (WIP)

www.nitdroid.com has a fairly well organized list of what is and is not workin :)

EDIT:

this looks like it may be useful > my current error <3>soc_camera: version magic '2.6.32 preempt mod_unload ARMv6 ' should be '2.6.28-nitdroid preempt mod_unload ARMv6 '

that error is what i expected to get and easyily fixed (ignore the modulei was just compiling a small module as test(for the n8x0 camera) ) so im tryign to compile sound subsystem now as module see if i can import it to a running kernel

Here is a page I used that has very good references for the N900.

My N900 doesn't seem to want to boot after flashing bdogg64's kernel image. Has the kernel image been signed by fiasco-gen? if not, what are the command line arguments to preform this task?

dj_steve 2010-03-06 22:00

Re: [Android] Eclair NITDroid (WIP)

im fairly certain you dont flash the kernel on the n900 according to some of bdoggs previous posts hes using bootmenu to do it

correct me if i'm wrong but from what i've seen, the stock maemo kernel doesn't provide resources necessary to boot android hence why you need to patch and install a custom kernel in order to get Android to boot on the N900 - the bootmenu only allows you to switch from Maemo to Android ;)

dj_steve 2010-03-06 22:14

Re: [Android] Eclair NITDroid (WIP)

pass, but im sure he has it booting a diff kernel from bootmenu

Untill kexec is fully working on the arm architecture, you cant really dual boot different kernels on the N900, which is why i'm certain that flashing the kernel is necessary in order to boot Android. :)

pass, i havent got 900 so cant comment

Unfortunately, bootmenu didn't show my freshly minted android.ext3.item... in fact, booting with the keyboard open had no noticeable effect. Perhaps bootmenu is buggy with PR1.1.1? Anyone have a suggestion as to something I can try. I'm so close to get a "testable" system!

I didn't use faisco-gen to sign the kernel image. I just compiled the zImage using the scratchbox compiler. Does it hang at the boot screen?

have you tried re-installing the bootmenu? what do you have in android.ext3.item?

After you install the bootmenu, you have to go to the apps and click 'Install bootmenu'

Try re-downloading the zImage and flashing again. I hadn't had any issues with the kernel builds, but of thats the case when its just one person

I'm gonna assume 1.2 isn't out yet, but I suppose its possible depending on what kernel 1.2 is using.

do you have an md5 for the kernel image by any chance?

61e2d74152ca8942affe3cecfcfab710 (if thats wrong, forgive me)

Just another FYI, this doesn't allow you to dual boot as it is only for testing at this point unless you build the kernel and modules yourself and update your /lib/modules
