Had it for 6 months now and finally its out here. I think my decision to buy it at launch was right considering the price here.

1)Where can I get the scratch guard of N900 in mumbai (pref. near Thane)
2)Can we listen to Radio FM without headphones ? If yes how ?

bst of luck with ur n900....
m not sure abt the scratch guard n if u r lukin for FM radio without headphones then its not possible at all, n for that too u need to install an app named as "FM Radio"...

I was just wondering if anyone can tell me how to setup the FMMS app with the vodafone prepaid sim in Madhya Pradesh... ? plz help me.. I really need it...

I am using a european model and i am using vodafone on my phone right now but it does not connect through vodafone live due to some reason

Well go to ebay.in and order it. I ordered couple of scratch guard and leather flip case for my N900. Hope that helps!

sorry, you can't listen to the radio without headphones, as the headphones act as a antenna for the FM receiver..

go through the previous pages and you would know the reason. there was a lot of discussion on this thread regarding it some time ago...

in short i will tell you that vodafone live is not a full fledged gprs service and hence things like gtalk, email, etc wont work on it. only websites can be opened. if you need full gprs in vodafone you need to have vodafone mobile connect activated.

Hi everyone.

I bought my N900 here in India and I am extremely happy. But the Indian firmware did not have Skype because of some regulation issues. So I downloaded and flashed the global firmware. Working like a charm as of now.... :)

Hey Guys... I'm using N900 since Jan and going thru all the threads, I can tell that u can do a video calling through Gtalk if you want to try it out as I do that on regular basis and the clarity is just amazing of the front cam as well...

Hi Fazlan,

Good to hear from u....I also use Indian version- n900..

But the VERSION: 10.2010.19-1.004..I have seen/tried video calling option...Pls help me ...I am interested & i want to try in my phone, to feel the experience...

Yeah i'm using the N900 in India , Having the Middle east Model ... Bought it from there , I've tried using it with Airtel , Aircel , Tata Docomo and Vodafone , all of them work fine .

Folks - I will be visiting Hyderabad for a month and would love a good speed internet connection. Any suggestions on what provider and good plan options are suggested for N900?

If you want 3G you can only get on BSNL. Since 3G services by other providers are yet to be out.

Good info, thanks!

I will be needing it only for a month in December. Most likely will be using in Chennai and Bangalore too. Recommendation on what plan I can chose from? I am looking forward to using skype as well as google voice to make calls to US on a regular basis.

flydeep , if u want a fast internet connection in hyderabad , i would suggest BSNL 3G as i am using it and it's speed is amazing and it's cheap too .....

On an unrelated note, do you know whether there are places which rent a bike for a month in Hyd? ;)

BSNL 3G is not available in areas of hyderbad so check it before taking.

Airtel is good alternative if u can do EDGE.

I am aiming for skype quality calls and edge might stutter on that.
Do you know whether 'Manikonda'/Hi-tech area has BSNL 3g coverage?

edit: I did a quick search for 3g coverage map and didn't find any userful info.

Guys, i suppose you would have heared of an app called "WEB2SMS"
its used to send sms via internet to mobile phones
at present it does not have "www.160by2.com" or "www.way2sms.com" as providers, which is the only source we indians can use
and its creator wants testers from india

Finally we have 3.5G+ by Tata Docomo , we should have around 4-5 MBPS on the N900 :D

Currently BSNL is providing cheapest 3g .Unlimited 3g @ Rs 700[$20]/month(you have to pay 6 months tariff in advance).

I think Airtel will launch 3g very soon (in Dec 2010 or in 1Q 2011).Airtel started testing 3g in various places.They demonstrated 3g video call.Read this--

Does the BSNL 3G supports browsing in laptop using N900. if possible whats the speed possible in the system, is it same the same speed that we get in N900??

Yes you can use BSNL 3G in your pc.I'm not using BSNL 3G so I can not tell you the actual speed but according to some reviews of 3g users you will get minimum 1.5 mbps.In maximum places 3.6 mbps speed is available.In some places 7.2 mbps is available.
