so guys it says i need to connected it to pc, to update in new york usa via app manager, so what do i do?

Exactly what it says "To update your device to this version of the operating system you must use the nokia software update application on your pc. connect the device to your pc via USB cable and launch the application."

Lol My N900 just received messages and I can't check it while downloading the Update! This suck! lol. Now i'm going to hope it finishing soon.

i am not sure what u did, i read ur posts all u said were "does not work, just says that it could not lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock " then u said u figured it out, can u repeat ur steps please?

Can someone check if USB networking works as before the update?
I have this problem:
The device does not respond to pings anymore, neither on the IP associated to the USB interface (192.168.2.15) nor to localhost (127.0.0.1).
What works are pings to the PC (192.168.2.14) from the device.

the browser portrait thing was kinda difficult. Luckily you only have to do it once. after that you just close the keyboard and turn the phone to go to portrait.

I've done the remove apt-get python and cache ln steps but I still cant get more than 60MB :( Anything else I can do?

Hmm I remove all apps/games over 8MB and the apt-get dist-upgrade is running now.

There seems to be a suggestion that those of us with older devices aren't going to be able to get this OTA - can anyone confirm? Something about the respository address.

The last minor update was to allow this bigger one to come over the air via handset. Your problem could only mean you didn't get the last update or it did not install correctly.

That means you have app manager open. close that first.

And please note that using apt-get can mess up your device if you don't know what you're doing.

I just tried updating OSA (US phone in germany on t-mobile) and was told by the update that I have use the PC update software.

Bummer, OHA is so much easier.

No, it's not enough. You need more than 45Mb which means you can only have ~80% used or less.

Sorry Viny I am unsure if you can. Look in the uninstall app section if the update is listed then posibly? If not the only other thing I could find was a lack of memory.

If you get "Not enough memory" during sw update, then it might apps from extras testing/development. Remove those or use NSU.

i dont think u can either it says maemo 5 and shows the current firmware and shows a new update is here but not installable. it doesnt show lack of memory at all.

just got it done with apt-get. ran out of disk space but reboot + asking dpkg nicely to continue where it was before interrupt did almost the trick.

apt-get -f install did the rest and when rebooting saw cool new progress bar that has nokia logo :D
