UOTE=lartza;1259571]Haven't worked for some time,

Code:

#define YANDEX_ROUTER_URL \

App at that url returns always empty data

Ah, I see. I thought I managed to hold back package maemo-mapper but it seems the update crept in anyway. Thanks for clarification.

I tried to downlad the .deb provided by lartza, but the file I got has only 4kb, so something is not right.

Could someone please send me a copy of it, it would be appreciated. also some detail instruction for applying the changes would also be helpful.

cheers,

Re: [Maemo 5] Maemo Mapper

The file is 600kb and exceeds the forum's upload max of 488kb. Just click on lartza's link and you should be able to save the file to your device. I'm using Opera which will save the file to the Image folder.

Re: [Maemo 5] Maemo Mapper

@twy213, thx, I have managed to download it using my desktop PC.

In terms of getting the route, after installing, do I switch the 'map repository' to Yandex and then put in the src and destination to get the desired route and then save it to a file. When it is time to use the route, I would switch the map back to google and then re-read the route from the saved file?

I would appreciate some instruction/step that I can go over before making the changes.

cheers

Switch to yandex and download your route. Then save the route to your Routes folder. You don't need to switch back to google, Yandex is now goetags and can be left untouched as geotags will get routes anywhere in the world.

Re: [Maemo 5] Maemo Mapper

Wondering if there is any documentation or posts regarding adding maps and/or layers to mappero. It would be pretty sweet to add the cloud layer and other weather related layers from the wunderground.com map in the same way that the google traffic layer is done. Tried looking at the settings, but not sure what all those data points refer to.

Bzzz 2013-02-01 17:31

Re: [Maemo 5] Maemo Mapper

Adding layers and new map sources can be done in mappero in the maps section, but that function is broken atm. I didn't manage to edit the file it is stored in by hand, but using a /etc/hosts entry to link maemo.org to my pc and some tweaking of the apache web dir, I got a custom file via the sync mechanism (-> http://vcs.maemo.org/git/maemo-mappe...configurations) into mappero. I have no idea why the Google Label overlay isn't in there, but the url from the mappero map list is still working and may be distributed (again).

Well, I would to some bug-fixing myself, but I am unable to compile the deb from sources. It seems especially hard at the moment, as some dev sources aren't available because of the ongoing repository relocation. If anyone can help me in compiling that thing, I'm willing to work on it...

Re: [Maemo 5] Maemo Mapper

Is mappero still being developed?

It is very fast comparing to other mapping applications on N900, except CloudGPS but this is lacking some necessary features such as track overlay.

Thanks.

No, it is not. But it works pretty wel nonetheless.

I am planning to take off for a long bike ride starting in about a month. A fast/reliable mapping app is almost a must for me. I downloaded map tiles manually for my approximate route within Mappero using Google Maps/Satellite and Terrain options to a quite detailed level. Offline mode is quite reliable so far. I need to get a couple extra batteries to keep the phone going. Not planning to record the whole trip, just use the phone as a navigation device.

Yeah, I use mappero like that too and it works, only GPS drains the battery a lot (without using GPS and with GSM connection turned off, the phone lasts several days on one battery). Navit is good for driving (and it would not be so slow if you downloaded just the maps you need provided you do not go for a year-long trip), but I preffer mappero if it is me who is going to do the navigation and not the computer.

Yep, I will not record the whole track. Will check the GPS just for navigation purposes. I tested leaving GPS on and recording it, but the phone dies in a matter of hours. Otherwise like you said, which 1-2 days lasting phone and 2-3 extra batteries look good for me so far, since probably I will come to stop points to recharge the batteries. I don't need driving directions. The track overlay option in mappero is quite enough for me. Then I will make sure to follow the track or at least not get too far off :)

Still don't have a clue how to compile that thing. And I haven't received a single package update for months (nor any new stuff in repository). Am I missing something, or is the N900 development dead?

To my eyes, more or less yes, navit from bokomoko is updated about once a month and some work is being done on csthumb and cssu, AFAIK. the phone still works for me though.

Has anybody else noticed that Mappero / Maemo Mapper's routing option doesn't work anymore?

Is there any workaround?

Do you use yandex? I think there is an old deb in this thread, or something like that, read this thread some time back.

Does anybody has the deb package provided by Lartza? That link no longer works.

i can't post the file because there is a 400kb limit on this post and the file is 600kb.
Zipping doesn't help either. I can email it to you if you give me your address. This isnt binaries,
its the actual patch to the program that changes yandex to gpx.

Oh, I see. Well, it is not worth cross-compiling for me, I thought you had the deb package by lartza. Nevermind then, thanks anyway.

Oh, sure, I do want it, please:). Well, technically, a deb is an archive of some text files and (usually) compiled code, so it is at least partly a binary, even if the source code is freely available.

Ok, thanks for e-mailing it to me. I splitted it into two rar files. So first unrar the two files attached and then use file-roller on the first part, that should give you the deb.

Edit - geez sometimes I can be so mentally-challenged. I just noticed the little "GPS" icon on the bottom of the screen. Pressing that fixed it.

For some reason, mappero stopped utilizing GPS on my phone a long time ago. Various other GPS applications work fine, so I don't know what the problem is. I'm running CSSU testing.

Use the yandex plugin, which uses geotags.com

Many thanks!

I've been using it for last two years. But for several weeks the router query returns multiple routes that mappero chained. First route is by train, followed by a straight line back to start, followed by one or two car routes. Distances and notes to next turn in the upper right corner aren't correct because the first route is for train. I think this is due to new parameters in the router query. Can you or anyone fix it?

Best regards

i contacted the gpxgeotags.com webmaster and he is aware of the problem. He said it would take him awhile to fix. You could try emailing him too, his address is on the website.

Yes, I see it two days ago, but I don't understand why. I had contacted the gpxgeotags.com webmaster, he wrote me that Google „returns one or more different tracks, each in one segment. It's not obvious how to handle that.“ So I answer „I think it should be fixed in mappero by the available routes are displayed as options to choose from. I'll contact mardy, the mappero author. “ But I have not yet.
