Hi Mohammad AG, I have installed this package (the one on the original post) and have pinned it too following the OP instructions. However, I still have the PR1.2 screen glitch on incoming calls. Is there something I'm missing?

I'm running the global firmware.

See bug 7772 you might be suffering form it, it's a hardware problem.

http://mohammadag.xceleo.org/public/...+0m5_armel.deb

Same instructions as first post, includes screen glitch fix, scrolling fixed by default (adjustable in transitions.ini), and the catorize triggered bug fixed.

Indeed I am a bit busy, I'm only 17 and this is my last year at school, so there are some priorities, I still come to the forums whenever I can though.
Rewriting PSFreedom and Hostmode's UIs in C++, so I'm kinda busy with those two projects too :)

Hi MohammadAG.

Thanks for your answer. Just to confirm I understood everything correctly. In the beginning your package had the same name as Nokia's official package but now we have to install the one that includes the word kinetic in its name but it's the same package with more fixes?

The package name is hildon-desktop, I just added kinetic to distinguish it from the other files on my PC (FYI: I did the same to the first package, see first post)

Download the file using the link MohammadAG provided a few posts above and run the command from the directory where you saved the file.

You typoed the filename, there's a whitespace in it which needs to be escaped with \ -character. Use the "tab" button to autofill filenames.

Like this:
dpkg -i /home/user/MyDocs/hildon-home"PRESS TAB NOW"

That way you can avoid typos and you don't have to type everything.

Re: [Announce] Faster kinetic scrolling in app menu (PR1.2)

i think you have to change your directory first.
first save the file to your mydocs then
type:
sudo gainroot
cd MyDocs
and then the dpkg -i command
that should work.

Re: [Announce] Faster kinetic scrolling in app menu (PR1.2)

I'm going slightly off-topic here but how about customizing the Hildon Desktop even more with portrait-support? This thread should give you the basic idea, since it already modifies the multitasking, right?

[PATCH] Two-column and single-column task switcher, big previews (hildon-desktop)

And to make the Hildon Desktop even better we could probably have Matan's multiple desktops and CTRL+Backspace (ALT+Tab equilevant). So, what do you think, up for the challenge? :D

(To be clear : I can't code, don't have any kind of ability to code with Hildon Desktop and thus can't really help. Would love to though.)

Re: [Announce] Faster kinetic scrolling in app menu (PR1.2)

I'm up for patching in Matan's changes so you don't have to install another package, as for portrait mode, I'm not sure I know enough C to do that, I'll see about it, maybe we can organise a group of devs and make a project for it :)

Thnx ! finally fast scrolling again.. -_-

Re: [Announce] Faster kinetic scrolling in app menu (PR1.2)

I've tried to add "enter password" feature into hildon-desktop and hildon-home so we can lock applications.
I tried hildon_password_dialog but I don't have skills to do this in gtk.
If someone gives me an "enter password" example I'll implement this, and I'll add the dialog for lock apps in settings menu.

thats awesome, and btw having a portrait hildon, that means we can have a portrait mode ui, the only thing we need...

You need to un-"pin" it first.

Check what you have in /etc/apt/preferences, something like:

Code:

cat /etc/apt/preferences
if you see only this:
Code:

~ $ cat /etc/apt/preferences
Package: hildon-desktop
Pin: release a=unstable
Pin-Priority: 1001
~ $

it means you haven't pinned anything else. in that case it is safe to do:
Code:

rm /etc/apt/preferences
and then the upgrade will work.

Cheers.

See here.

I tried it and it worked! Now, I have matan's Modified Hildon Desktop + faster kinetic scrolling in app menu ( + single-column task switcher :D).

Now the problem is: is there a way to have system-wide faster scrolling (not only in the menu)?

i haven't pin it, and it shows that this directory doesn't exist, my only problem with it, is that using this modified hildon, transition control doesn't work .

MohammadAG 2010-10-09 08:58

Re: [Announce] Faster kinetic scrolling in app menu (PR1.2)

Transition control needs an update, it's using the old transitions.ini entries and it doesn't adjust properly to new entries.

Re: [Announce] Faster kinetic scrolling in app menu (PR1.2)

isnt this a real update?
the current file has version number 2.2.138-1, the older one i have has the same number.

/edit:
just installed it, and i noticed that transitions in the menu got much choppier. also, when you go to "all" in the menu (i'm using catorise), it doesnt give an animation at all.

transitions.ini is replaced after each installation, I could change this but not right now (it's how hildon-desktop behaves from nokia, not my fault :p)

I've successfully merged Matan's hildon-desktop with my package, so there's no need to install modified-hildon-desktop now.
http://mohammadag.xceleo.org/public/...+0m5_armel.deb

Source code is not modified at all, same source with Matan's patches applied on top.

No idea, I don't see why it should, check with the ApMeFo dev.
