one question: where is the nelisquare cache folder located?

one report: after pressing check-in here, it appears the alert..nice check-in etc...along with a line showing the popular tip of the place, but there is a blank space instead of the tip, like (Popular tip: )

same behaviour if a friend of mine already added a tip for that venue, it shows a line that notify me that a friend left a tip, but a blank space instead of the comment, like (Sahara said: )

btw i can read the comment, in the tips list of the venue

ps: the badges list is marvellous.

cache location path provided by maemo/meego OS, nelisquare adds "/nelisquare/" to it.
default is ~/.cache/nelisquare/
cache stats(size/count) and ttl settings will be introduced in next version.

i'll check this out.


UPD:

just checked again, and it seems I forgot to add "nelisquare" dir suffix, so for now all cache is at "~/.cache/" directory.

i like to ask a few question about this app...
is it take time to loading this app? it take about 20 - 25 seconds to load...
i want to upload a picture, but the picture wont load...

with all those issues, i still love your apps...well done mate

i think it depends on your device settings...
on my n900 with "power kernel" installed, it takes about 10 secs to load. on my n9 it takes about 1-2-3 secs.

currently i did not perform any optimization to speed up it, may be i'll do that later :cool:

:confused: please update to latest 0.4.2. the photo upload to checkin work there as expected, i.e. tap "Add photo" select photo from gallery, tap share settings, and tap upload. after that depending on your internet connection speed(after uploading photo to 4sq server), you will be redirected to checkin where your photo will be added to checkin details.

i use nelisquare along with two n900 browser windows active and nelisquare become laggy, but if i use this app individualy, it run smoothly...
all function work just fine in 0.4.2...nice

I guess, I should place optimizations somewhere on my roadmap, may be version 0.5.0? :D
anyway, it will be after the versions with major functionality implementation.

I got 0.4.2 yesterday, 0.4.3 today.
Most features work good on Maemo (N900), but photo uploading does not work:
The photo selection pane appears, but all photos shown as a black filled rectangle.
And I think the N900 is not powerful enough to load thousands of photos. I think it would be much better to have (alternatively?) a feature to select photos by file name, from the DCIM dirs, with keyboard selection and type-ahead, to be able to effectively select from large photo amounts.

there is no such version yet.

I got your idea about photo gallery and photo selection, and I will think about it.
Also there is some kind of huge performance regression at gallery at the moment. My N9 sometimes just stop responding, and i'm investigating the problem.

sorry I mixed that up, was 0.4.1 and 0.4.2 I think? Maybe you could include a version number in the settings-screen.

One wonderful feature of Nelisquare is to shut off GPS if not in foreground, very useful. So we can leave it open all the time.

Even after restarting the device I get just the default app icon (blue square) in the app menu of Maemo. Is this a bug or do I have to uninstall-reinstall the app to see its icon?

I'm almost completed the 0.4.3, which will include version info at settings screen, in-app updater (which checks for stable and developer versions) and some bug fixes.

In future version there will be setting for "GPS unlock delay time". It seems not very convinient to turn it off immediately after application goes background, for instance if you are switching to camera, or reading an sms.

Version 0.4.3 is out :)

• cache reset and size info at settings page.
• gallery performance fix
• auto-update & version checker.

Available update version is requested from my build server at application startup and when you tap on interested update type(or change it) at settings page.

Update button forces device to download appropriate deb file from my server, but you have to manually tap it to install update.

• developer version are updated each time I hit the build button (for personal tests on my device).
  I use that version all the time, so it should work fine most of the time, but some functionality may be broken for couple of hours.
• stable versions are updated manually by me, when i create source tarballs and pushing changes to github/devel-extras/etc.

Stable versions for maemo are the same as at devel-extras repository (with small time lag while package is imported).

For Harmattan users internal updater is best way to stay informed about new versions :D

:o Please note:
Due to my mistake at 0.4.0, cache folder was "~/.cache" instead of "~/.cache/nelisquare".

• For version 0.4.3 - 0.5.0 "Reset cache" function will affect both path, so it will wipe all the nelisquare cache.
• For version 0.5.0+ "Reset cache" will wipe cache only at "~/.cache/nelisquare/".

Please reset cache atleast once while you are on versions 0.4.3-0.5

Great! 0.4.3 is amazing.
First time I can
1. select a photo (selection pane shows latest photos rather fast now, big improvement!)
and
2. successfully upload it to foursquare.
Thank you very much, I am so happy.

One more wish: could Nelisqare scale the size of the uploaded image automatically to some reasonable limit (like VGA size), as the N900-shot photos are too large to be viewed in Nelisquare and take rather long to download? Nelisquare (and all other Foursquare apps) is meant to be used on the road...
Of course I could resize the photo myself using some other app, but that would be quite cumbersome to do...

great update! improving fast!

just 2 reports to eventually add in your roadmap:

-the badges list of a person, is visible only if is in your contacts (friended). i tried the android 4sq app, is possible to see badges list of every person, even if not added as friend

-nearby button is not changing the feed list, for example switching from recent to nearby...doesn't hide feed of a friend in USA...and im in Italy

just my 2 cents :)

is adding venue function is on your list?
and is it possible to change venue coordinat, i.e. your home is at A9 (already registered as a venue in 4sq), but that coordinat is way too far from the map, it should be at A3...is it posible to change/edit the coordinat from A9 to A3 without creating a new venue...

Full list of properties:

Core updates are now completed, and latest dev build (developer v0.4.5 build >= 201210281859) should be bugs free, and i'm now resuming implementing new functionality ;)

current main changes at dev are:

• pages dont reload their data from server, so "back" button now almost instant :cool:
• also this version should loads faster.

If you are using "Battery Usage" application(or any of that kind) i'd like to collect some infromation from you about battery drain while using nelisquare.
Please send an text info or printscreen: as private message here, via twitter, or any other way.

2012/10/29 UPDATE:
If you are using exactly the "Battery Usage" application - you dont have to run it all the time. it collects information even if it does not run at background. The battery stats resets once you connect power cord to your phone. So the best time to make a screensnap is just before you are going to charge the phone.

hmmm. i dont think that it can be useful, because it does not provide battery usage info per application.
I'll check if any kind of software is available for maemo5 and let you know.
anyway, all optimizations made to nelisquare while analyzing N9 behavior is useful for maemo, as both systems share the same code.

Latest dev build (v0.4.6 build >= 201210310017 ) introduces the MOLO.me integration! Currently in beta state, but all seems to work as expected.

Now you can post your cool photos using molo.me filter hitting just one button at nelisquare!

Here is the process:
Step 1. "get molo.me". If you already have molo.me installed - skip thit step.
You need to install molo.me application to your phone.

• Browse to http://molo.me/meego
• or install molo.me from ovi store
• or press "Download molo.me now!" at nelisquare settings page.

after installing molo.me you have to restart nelisquare!

At this step you have to create molo.me account if you dont have one.

Step 2. Integrate molo.me into nelisquare

• Go to settings page
• check if molo.me status is disabled and tap "Install". Please note, this is a beta version. Meego system will say that "nelisquare is stop responsing", just ignore, it's really busy right now, a few more seconds, and all become normal.
• check that molo.me integration status changed to enabled.

Step 3. It's time to have fun! :cool:

• Make a checkin, or open existing one.
• Tap "Add photo" button - you will note the new button "Molo.me" active, if all is working as expected.
• Tap "Molo.me" button and feel the magic.

This is just ordinary use of molo.me application:

• take a photo
• zoom&crop, select filter and apply
• tap next, and your photo will be instant available for uploading at nelisquare.

Small update to 0.4.6 devel (build >= 201211010034).

Now integration with molo.me is flawless, so there is no "not responding" popups shown.
It also implements higher resolution of photos available via molo.me, and ability to zoom&crop photo before applying filter. The result image resolution is still limited to 600x600 or 800x800 due to molo.me restrictions.

In order to make updates work, you have to reenable(uninstall and install) integration.

In future releases (i guess at 0.4.6 stable) i will make an popup about molo.me integration, so you will be notified, if you should reenable integration because of new functions, or molo.me versions.

I'm also trying to port molo.me application to n900. i saw the thread about, why there is no n900 application, so i suppose it will be repacked by me into a bundle available at my server for download for n900.
