Re: [Release] N12 "UMay" - Android GingerBread 2.3.4

Could someone tell me how to add a APN ?
When I added my APN in settings and click save, it just disappears and the site is blank....
Help is really appreciated.

What does "feeling guilty" have to do with this?

Turn off the airplane mode.
If it keeps turning on,
Disable PIN request on Maemo (Settings > Phone)

Hm.

Still haven't solved the problem - could installing it on eMMC help? (I highly doubt it but still)

Re: [Release] N12 "UMay" - Android GingerBread 2.3.4

New ofonod proposed by e-yes works ok for me, now the long sms that I receive will be divided in 2 or more sms ( before everything that was more than 120ish characters was not displayed at all for me) and also the international sms (with + ) should work too.

Download here :http://downloads.nitdroid.com/e-yes/experimental/ and replace the old ofonod file in system/bin (of course your /and must have been mount ....) ; then just a chmod 755 here and you're done.

edit: long sms received are still sometimes as before (not fully displayed) and sometimes (fully received ) divided in more sms (with the length of 64 characters each for me).....no problem with whatsapp in wifi ( my 3G data only working sporadically...).

Definitely the international + sms work!! Just installed whatsapp whitout any problem, having a long dialogue with my wife (who, of course, is having an iphone :mad: )

rjneid: I use filebox to copy files ( must to be root and your /and mounted as usual); once your ofonod file is copied into /and/system/bin you type (still being root of course) in terminal : chmod 755 /and/system/bin/ofonod .

well that sucks. i was hoping this ofonod update would fix my problem but it wouldn't

is there any way to get some debug logs so I can see whats wrong myself?

Re: [Release] N12 "UMay" - Android GingerBread 2.3.4

I've searched but haven't had much success in finding an answer for this. I assume it's supposed to be working as part of nitdroid (please correct me if I'm wrong) but have been unable to get it to work so far. I've tried Internet2.voicestream and get nothing. epc.tmobile reroutes me to the upgrade page except it doesn't load I'm only shown a link.

edit I got it to work briefly on Friday but only in a specific area. Most times I can't even get the 3G icon to pop up. And by work I mean I was online and browsing BUT couldn't send messages via What's App

Google "logcat", there's some good tutorials on how to use it, it's pretty simple. Download Android SDK to get it on your PC, then connect via USB...debug over USB is enabled by default in Nitdroid. From a command prompt, then
Code:

adb logcat

Long SMS are still intermittent for me, some come through via multiple messages, others still come through truncated at 1 message length (126 characters).

Download new 'ofonod'. Transfer it to your phone via USB.

1. Mount Android (for eMMC):
Code:

cd /
mount /home /and

2. Move new ofonod to overwrite existing:
Code:

cd /home/user/MyDocs
mv ofonod /and/system/bin/

3. chmod new ofono to be executable:
Code:

cd /and/system/bin
chmod 755 ofonod

Also, I have a question : e-yes has posted some time ago that he wanted to implement the different layouts of HW keyboard... my question is : what's the status of this implementation ? that would be awesome for me as I have a french localised keyboard...

EDIT: did not solve the problem :eek::mad:

hey guys what is the default clock speed for this version? is there a limit set? i installed the 0.0.8 version way back and they said that the default speed is up to 500-700mhz only. and for this version i read somewhere it is 1ghz. is it true? cause i'm not really a fan of overclocking..

Re: [Release] N12 "UMay" - Android GingerBread 2.3.4

hi people
i use nitdroid to try out new applications.
but i would like to use it as a full functional alternative os.
the nitdroid versions requiring 1GHZ processors are not fast enough on the n900 and the phone gets warm sometimes. And the battery drains too fast.

My idea would be the following.
Make it possible to uninstall unusable system applications so it use less battery and runs faster.

or a stable android 2.1 port because it doesnt require an 1GHZ processor.

so what do you think?
tell me your ideas.

Re: [Release] N12 "UMay" - Android GingerBread 2.3.4

Just flashed kernel 2 times this night, because i tried to boot to N12. There appeared that " root directory not found in .... " text and i think this is because i didn't change the multiboot -thing- with leafpad again after i updated from N11 to N12 and i think i should have? I'm glad thought because now i can reflash only the kernel for my n900 :D

Hi e-Yes, After testing this new release (for the first time), let me tell you that I'm quite satisfied of the result. I'm still testing it further.

Concerning games, as the N900 screen is not multitouch, I would like to know if there is a way to map certain actions in game to keys on the keyboard, i'm sure that technically it is possible, a bit like preenv games. How can I do it? What files can I tweak to map keys to Keyboard?

Concerning Applications, no major problem are detected.

Thanks again for this hard work and we are waiting for next releases. Keep up the good Job!

11-NITDroid-mmcblk0p2-2.6.28.NIT.07.item - i.e new kernel

So, don't leafpad at the /etc/multiboot.d/11 (there is no such file as "11")
Just enter those 2 last .item files and change line accordingly.
I learned myself the hard way :-)

@artron

See this post, you need to make sure that the multiboot menu points to the correct location.

Im using "ITEM_DEVICE=${INT_CARD}p2" because i have an MMC (micro SD card) plugged in my N900. if i change the like this "ITEM_DEVICE=mmcblk0p2", so i must unplug my MMC first. is Umay must run with unplug MMC, if i installed on EMMC?

this figured on my N900,
I Have MMC plugin.
i can boot to Maemo with Omap and power-kernel normaly on every boot. then i boot to Nitdroid and work correctly and normal to inside the Nitdroid OS, but i reboot or restart from Nitdroid and return to Multiboot menu and choose the menu from Omap and Power-kernel i alwast get " Guru Meditation : Required Files Not Found ".

so my problem is if i boot to Nitdroid then reboot and return to multiboot menu im alwasy lost my Omap Kernel dan power-kernel. so i must reflash "kernel only" again if i want to boot to maemo.

this my multiboot menu entry, maybe you can help or get some fix my entry:

file 1 (00-maemo-kernel-power46.item), the entry is :

Code:

ITEM_NAME="Maemo kernel-power46"
ITEM_KERNEL="2.6.28.10power46"
ITEM_MODULES=ext3

file 2 (01-maemo-2.6.28-omap1.item), the entry is :

Code:

ITEM_NAME="Maemo kernel-power46"
ITEM_KERNEL=2.6.28-omap1

file 3 (NITDroid2.6.28.07.item), the entry is :

Code:

ITEM_NAME="NITDroid 2.6.28.NIT.07 On mmcblk0p2"
ITEM_KERNEL=2.6.28.NIT.07
ITEM_MODULES=ext3
ITEM_DEVICE=${INT_CARD}p2
ITEM_FSTYPE=ext3
ITEM_FSOPTIONS=rw,noatime,errors=remount-ro

Interesting, a possible form to simulate multitouch with simple touch the screen and touch a key at the same time.

Could be magic if were possible.

Make sure that your multiboot ".item" file for NITDroid is typed like this:

Code:

${INT_CARD}p2
instead of

Code:

mmcblk0p2

Hi Friend,

I experienced that problem before and got it solved. This is caused by forgetting a step in the NITDroid installation procedure, particularly these commands:

Code:

root
apt-get update
apt-get install nitdroid-installer
y
y again if it asks again.

I ran into the problem because I tried the uninstallation steps, and then tried to reinstall NITDroid (I just wanted to verify if the uninstallation procedure works that's why I did it. :D).

So what happened was the exact same thing...I can boot into NITDroid properly, but after booting into NITDroid and wanting to go back to Maemo, I get the "Guru Meditation" problem. To solve it I had to always reflash (kernel only). I tried to think hard and remembered that I missed the steps I quoted above. So I did the steps and it solved the problem. :) If I remember correctly, those steps are required because it also installs the "Multiboot kernel" (so that you can boot between NITDroid and Maemo). Without it, you'll always get that problem you mentioned.

Hope this helps. :)

Workflow is quite simple:

modify
http://gitorious.org/android-n900/pl...i/EventHub.cpp , recompile framework/base, test it, contribute a patch.
