Could someone please tell me if it's possible to sync calendar and contacts via USB cable to Outlook 2007? Has anyone tried?
Reason for this question is that my company won't let it connect to MfE anymore :-( |

Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
I think this has a good fit in this questions & answers thread, especially for people who bought or intend to buy the N9 from another country:
Nokia warrants to you that during the warranty period Nokia or a Nokia authorized service company will in a commercially reasonable time remedy defects in materials, design and workmanship free of charge by repairing or, should Nokia in its discretion deem it necessary, replacing the Product in accordance with this Limited Warranty (unless otherwise required by law). This Limited Warranty is only valid and enforceable in the country where you have purchased the Product provided that Nokia has intended the Product for sale in that country. However, if you have purchased the Product in a member state of the European Union, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland or Turkey and Nokia originally intended the Product for sale in one of these countries, this Limited Warranty is valid and enforceable in all of these above listed countries. Some limitations to the warranty service may apply because of country specific elements in the Products. So within the EU it should be no problem to claim your warranty in the UK or Germany for example, with reference to that policy, which Nokia states on its own website. http://europe.nokia.com/support/repa...mited-warranty |
Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
Any apps that take advantage of the feeds-screen yet? For something useful?
Question: is it possible to be able to edit things in the feedscreen? IE type up and post a comment on a friends facebook status update, etc, right from the feed-screen or will it always be locked to the "click feed, open app, then do something" system? Im looking at my N9s feedscreen and its got NOTHING. No facebook, cause its useless without any use to it, no RSS feeds cause... well nothing really interests me that much, theres nokias blog but its all symbian3 and no n9 so mostly just gibberish... a few tweets but **** tweets. also messages but those I read anyways just as i get them due to the lockscreen-swipe shortcut to recieved messages. Kinda bored with that whole deal :o |

What I'd like to see is the calendar integrating with the events view. Upcoming appointments for the next 7 days for instance. That would be very useful, at least for me. |
Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
I agree, calendar should definitely show upcoming appointments, at least for the current day or current+following day.

Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
Tried out the navigation bit today and this is what i think, based on comparing to maps on the N900 and 5800.
The focus here is how easy it is to use for getting to point B Pros: - Can actually be used for navigation (unlike N900) - Drive UI is better for use while driving than on 5800 - Several voices in different languages to choose from - Search is way better that on N900 and 5800, result as you type - Integration with contacs is sweet when you've entered an address for your contact. - Preinstall maps (optional I think) - Free (as in beer) - Feels faster than on N900 and 5800 (no measurement done) Cons: - Favorites from "Maps" don't show up in drive to be selected as destination. - No speed limit warning (missing feature compared to 5800) - No speed camera warning (missing feature compared to 5800) - No "I need gas within 20km, plot the shortest possible detour" button, (why does no Navi solution have this? it seems so obvious) - Not possible to uninstall individual maps, you need to uninstall them all and then reinstall the ones you want, or update only the ones you want to keep (only possible when an update is available) - No "report map error" function |

Since N9 was meant for the average Joe, how would you pitch to an iPhone or android user?

Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
I'm having a big problem right now...after updating some apps, my home screen (apps screen) is left with just about 10 shortcuts. None of them is system related...so right now I'm banging my head how to get to the settings page and do a reset.
What I've tried so far: - "*#7370#" not working on MeeGo - downloaded firmware with Navifirm and tried to flash it with Phoenix. The device goes into Test Mode and when it's about to start flashing it gives an error ("MCUSW flashing failed. Exiting..."). I have a file manager installed and I can access it. Does anyone know if I can launch the settings app? LE: I think I have a solution for my problem, but still need your help. I'm gonna try to restore a back-up file. The problem is, I have no back-up file... Can anyone send me a backup file done after a clean device reset? I think this might just work... |

Ok more stupid questions.
N9 is in developer mode, utilities installed and 3rd party app installation on. I would think extra-dev etc are live? How to access them on N9? |

Okay going to update the OP soon, been very busy lately, sorry
How do you folks want me to summarise all the findings so far? And what do you want me to prioritise above all else? |
Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
i actually didnt realise the Event screen doesnt pop up with any calender events..
this now makes me quite upset at the device.. hrmm and yeh, if i could update my status via the events page would be good (otherwise, the events page is no use.. id rather go to the app and look at the fb and twitter feeds so that i can interact and update my own status) Is there anyway to change the 'weather' on the events page to pick up Meecast rather than Accuweather? |
Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
What sort of practical uses are there for NFC, particularly in Australia? No other phones around have it so I find little ways to actually take advantage of it, other than tapping it to my mastercard just for s&g's...

kindly focus on all current and upcoming findings that help to get a clean device first (removing spyware, logging, phone home) and add privacy protection / advertisement blocking. Thanks :) |

BUT: Sync with local Outlook items works over Bluetooth! At least under Windows 7. You pair the both devices and let Windows run through all the setup stuff. Then you open you N9 device in the "Devices and Printers" and then the Bluetooth page for the pairing comes up. There you can select to sync your items. EDIT: @jalyst I think this is one of the tips that should definitely be in the OP! |

Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
Hi to all Linux & Maemo Wizardes
I’ve been a proud N900 owner for 2 years now, and away from a couple of miner problems, it’s by so far the best handset I have ever owned. To be honest, N900 was my first Linux encounter, and I’m for sure not an expert, I would like to think that I’m clever enough to follow instructions and tutorials from your respected community, and for 2 years I have never had a problem with my phone…..( huge thanks is order) With that said, I’ve been waiting for N9 as long as the next guy, I even tried Meego on my netbook and as dual OS on my N900, and I was impressed and hopeful for the same time. And then it came, design wise and the swipe experience, battery time, camera and sound, is incomparable but then I read some reviews about how is it as a device, and how’s Meego as an OS, and I was a little disappointed, then the disappointment grew even bigger when I read that Meego people are dropping cuz Intel said so, and starting a new project (Tizen) and there is a inside split movment in the Meego community led by some of the developers who feel they are betrayed by the community heads and felt like a year and half of hard work was being wasted. N9 is not a cheap device, and honestly I lost my trust in Nokia in general, but I always trusted the developers community, but after the great announcement?????!!!!!!! :( It’s a simple question and hope you all excuse me for talking too much, I just feel so confused and frustrated  since the N9 came out, is it Worth the Money ? and is by any means have a future support at least as the Maemo community still supporting the N900 ? Your expert opinion is much appreciated. Thanks in advance. |
Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
One feature i would like to have on N9 is to use the standby screen to show the upcoming calendar and To - Do say for the next 3 days. Right now Calendar is pretty useless without being shown anywhere like a widget in symbian phone

Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
Finally, Harmattan is OPEN, see here :
http://forum.meego.com/showthread.php?t=4575&page=8 In addition, the N9 is a very good product; these are 2 good reasons to buy this phone. :) |

Missing features from end user viewpoint you can put the post# next to each item I don't think http://developer.nokia.com/bugs was meant for us end users even though I'm sure we can make an account there if we want like you suggested to me at meego forums. And oh yeah, badly executed features from end user viewpoint |
Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
How is battery life?
|
Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
