Re: [Announce] CSSU stable release

i have a "bug" (well don't sure if is normal of cssu).

When i open the media player (for song or video play), the internet connection pops out.

For example, i open media player, go to video and play it, pop out, close the video, open another video and pop out again.

Does that everytime.

Greetings.

Hi Friend,

Media Player? Or Open Media Player? Tried just now on Media Player and it doesn't happen (I'm using CSSU Stable, the latest available on the Wiki Page).

Open Media Player I think, has an added functionality for "fetching" lyrics of songs so it will need an Internet connection.

regarding the distinct portrait wallpaper, it was mentioned to rotate the image before selecting it as the portrait wallpaper. I understand that it means the image should be of 480 X 800 resolution. I tried a number of times with strange results. I was able to set one portrait wallpaper which is of 800 X 480 (???), but i cannot set other images of same size. Also tried with 480 X 800 images but no success. Can anyone help?

Hi Friend,

I don't know how to rotate a wallpaper to turn into portrait orientation (will look into that later). But for the purpose of testing, what I did is to download some wallpapers that are already in the required resolution and orientation, and it worked. :) There's a thread here where you can download a few wallpapers, at least just to test it out and ensure that it works. Might want to search for "loopable wallpaper" in the Search field.

Hope this helps. :)

There is a bug back on Modest email in CSSU stable and testing that was fixed on PR1.3 I was mentioned few posts back as this bug was already reported and fixed I am not sure if I have to file/report it again here is the bug report , and the problem has been discussed in this thread . So do I have to file the bug again ?

In CSSU Stable you have to install Orientation Lock Applet from the repo.
CSSU Stable is default locked to portrait.

This is not entirely true, applications that rotate by themseleves still rotate with cssu-stable, only the new rotations (added in cssu) for tasknav, desktop, ... are locked by default.

Re: [Announce] CSSU stable release

Sorry, I did mean the desktop.
I should have said CSSU Stable is designed to work like PR1.3.1 if you want the extra features you have to enable them.

I suppose you don't have to install Lock Applet eithier, you can use gconftool in a terminal. I find the applet is handy tho.

hello all. im new to the community ssu forums and I wanted to confirm first if this was the right place to discuss any issues found with the stable release.

thanks.

Re: [Announce] CSSU stable release

Not sure if this is related to cssu as I can't confirm when the problem started. My frequency settings in cpufreq won't save and neither will the 12hr clock setting. Reverts to 600mhz and 24hr clock. No big deal, just mildly annoying. Thanks.

Apologies, updated kernal settings and overclock and everything's funky again. Sweet!

Hullo folks. Haven't been here for a while, but I was wondering if the blacklist in CSSU is still the same e.g.

echo blacklist = FBReader >> /usr/share/hildon-desktop/transitions.ini

Is portrait wallpaper supported in CSSU stable? I've turned it on with the gconf command and I followed the .desktop file instruction here http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=393 and it doesn't work. I can get the four landscape wallpapers but when I rotate the phone to portrait, I can only see a black background.

You simply have to set portrait wallpapers when your phone is in portrait mode.

Well, there are a lot of posts about portrait wallpapers a few pages back. See if they can help you...

I reflashed and updated my device and only installed CSSU and tried it. The .desktop file method didn't work, but the changing individual background worked. I was thinking perhaps either "Theme Customizer" or "Tweakr" wasn't compatible with it.

sixwheeledbeast 2012-07-26 15:48

Re: [Announce] CSSU stable release

Possibly theme customizer, which version of theme customizer did you have. I am sure I locked it from updating for some reason.

I think I had the latest version of Theme Customizer. Which version do you have that works with CSSU?

Which version number?
I believe the latest "stable" version is the one to use.

0.9-65

I was using the latest "stable" version too. But I couldn't get portrait wallpapers with it installed. I don't really need to use Theme Customizer anyway so I don't install it anymore.

Update, but still have a bug, when play music (default media player), opens the internet connections option (every time that change a song do that), don't know why.

Greetings.

Re: [Announce] CSSU stable release

thanks for the update!
but it would have been a great possibility to get rid of the forced installation of _all_ language packs.
oss-pdf-viewer installs all language packs which is unnecessary and only due to Nokias lazyness (or worse).
why don't those l10n packes just provide a facility and the osso-pdf-viewer-l10n-mr0 requires just this facility instead of depending on _all_ l10n packages?
the deb format provides for exactly this scenario.

You probably have something in your playlist that needs internet? No idea otherwise.

Anyway, i can live with that issue.

Greetings.

Re: [Announce] CSSU stable release

Hi,

Just to avoid breaking something. I have just reflashed my device and installed all the apps I usually use + kernel power and humanity theme (which is the best theme for me). I'd also like to install CSSU, however I've been reading several posts about problems with custom themes and CSSU, with humanity theme specially. Can I install CSSU and keep the humanity theme or do I need to remove it? Is there any other theme compatible with CSSU?

My N900 is working very well and fast now after reflashing and I don't like to break it.

Thanks for your answer.

Re: [Announce] CSSU stable release

1 Attachment(s)
I attach a custom transitions.ini file for CSSU, modded with the configurations of the Humanity theme. Just copy it over /usr/share/hildon-desktop/transitions.ini (always with CSSU already installed) and the Humanity theme effects will come back!!

Re: [Announce] CSSU stable release

Hi,

I had CSSU installed and now I have reflashed my device, but just before I did a backup of my config using the Nokia backup util. I have now restored the backup (without installing the CSSU) but I've seen that there are a lot of %gconf files which keep CSSU config values. How could I find a list of the files modifies by the CSSU in order to "clean" those configuration files?

Thanks a lot.

HI All,

After installing the latest CSSU stable version, my battery is getting drained even if the phone is not in use. Has anyone encountered the same issue? Will someone be able to advise here?

Ive just re-flashed my n900 and then installed CSSU stable... however non of the mods seem to have been installed. No landscape mode or orientation lock in the quick access drop-down menu also the camera mods haven't been installed. The only mod that works is the keyboard arrow-keys to move to another homescreen.. Ive re-flashed and installed twice now any help welcome

Mods? I think you got the wrong end of the stick there.

*modified camera-ui is in testing version only.
*orientation-lock-applet is not automatically installed like testing version is.

CSSU-S is designed to work like stock PR1.3, CSSU-T things are forced upon you to make them be tested.

Additional gconf commands or applets are required to do some of the things you mention in stable.

Okay cheers. Been away from the n900 scene for a little while. Didn't realise I had the testing version installed the last time round. Do I just install the testing version over the stable ?

Re: [Announce] CSSU stable release

IMO best to start from a clean full reflash. There is no "recommended" way to change branches or uninstall.

chemist 2012-11-18 22:21

Re: [Announce] CSSU stable release

From stable to testing you can just install testing but you may never revert back from testing to stable though.

in CSSU features there is a preference to set the task switcher mode (bigger one/two columns) - how can i change the mode using a command line? i would like to change it when i'm in car mode.
