Thats not happening in v1.0.5
I does not automatically turn ON (for any of the methods: shake swipe down or the lock icon)

No it doesn't change password instead works as activate button, it just shows 'change'

It seems to work that way for me too ,change and activate do the same function meaning that they open the options to enable or disable private mode.took me a while to get used to it but it does the job , although its confusing :p

Edit:after rechecking i found out this feature works as it should but my thoughts get confused if i try to explain how o.O 12 hours at work affected my reasoning
-while trying to find our what 11212etc numbers meant i ound out that the desired contacts shortcut in the homescreen can open your private chat window even though that contact isn't visible in whatsup.

And why did you added a shortcut in homescreen for a contact you want to hide?

In Whatsapp you can set a different ringtone when the app is opened. In whatsup you get the "tick" sound right now. This option lets you change it.

1) you cant send messages while offline like in previous versions , you write, press send, nothing happens .

2) bookmark function dosent work like in 0.3.4, you get only a bookmark icon on message but is missing the bookmark menu icon where can you see all bookmark messages .

1) yes it works... Edit: You mean when Whatsup isn't connected? Yes I can confirm that it doesnt show the message, but when you're back connected, it does show it.

2) you press the "..." button at the bottom right where the "Star icon" was before ;) (you need to get out of the textbox (press just somewhere in the conversation) to see the "..." button)

Is there a way to run whatsup without having the application window open all the time? Like with Yappari on N900.

Just swipe down as you normally close apps.
This is will keep whatsup running in background. If you want to completely close, select Quit from options in main window.

Somehow my contact list disappeared. When I try to sync with the phone's contact list, the opreation gets stuck.

I recently updated to the latest version, and also I did this to import my SMS history from N900, I wonder if that had something to do with it :

Code:

1) Build a package via dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -I.git
2) Install the package on your N9/N950
3) Copy el-v1.db from your N900 (Or from an N900 backup).
4) Better to delete all conversations unless you can live with duplicates.
5) Make sure the messaging ui is closed.
6) ./usr/bin/n900-comhist-import el-v1.db

I installed 1.0.8 and everytime I open it it closes itself. Unless I open it without internet. This also happened with earlier versions. Any help?

Works very nice otherwise, however it often crashes when I try to send an image, and sometimes it won't send the image at all, just gets stuck at pending.

Cepi. that problem with sending offline messages/ messages while no internetconnection still persist. Works but only for first message sent. After that you cant see the message you sent. if you quit whatsup and enter again works, but still for the first message.

Ferfer93 2014-11-30 20:29

I'm having troubles connecting, the client doesn't connect to whatsapp servers. Tried switching to persecute for a minute and couldn't connect either. I'd like to know if someone else is having this problem, maybe got my account banned or something... I'm using last version 1.0.9.

Great client btw

You can't have both clients connected at same time. Please send me log files if problem persists

I can't do anything to fix this. The systems disables background connections in power saving mode.

I have the same problem. However, it doesn't connect even when it is running in forground. Do you still use 'background connection' in this case? It is reasonable if it is not allowed to connect when in background, but it should be possible to connect when in forground. I wonder why it is not the case.

If it is okay to request a feature - could it be possible somehow integrate the application to open youtube links in Cutetube instead of web browser?

Re: Whatsup - Harmattan client

Cepi, I'm not sure that this is an issue really, but still want to let you know: if I delete the received media (I tried only for voice recordings), it cannot be downloaded again (app just shows an error "File not found" when I tap it in the conversation. Is the behavior supposed to be like that? Does WhatsUp save the media on its servers for any time or it's just like client-to-client transmission?

chilango 2014-12-05 19:23

Re: Whatsup - Harmattan client

Thats not a bug its a feature ;)

Whatsup is something like SMS. You dont have something like a mailserver. You downloaded the message so you recieved it.
If you delete it, the information is gone with the wind ;)

Not a problem with Whatsup i think, for less is not fault from Cepi-version

coderus 2014-12-05 19:42

Re: Whatsup - Harmattan client

whatsapp storing media on server for a month or so. you uploading your image/video/audio to whatsapp server and recipient downloading it from server. implementing "download again" is trivial.

Loginin 2014-12-05 20:37

Hello,
I am not sure whether this is a bug, but all versions of whatsup I used stop connecting if public wi-fi connect to internet via web page. It seems like whatsup tries to connect while only connection page is available and fails. After this it refuse further connection attempts even manual. Only exit and app restart helps.

CepiPerez 2014-12-05 23:46

Re: Whatsup - Harmattan client

@chilango, @coderus:
https://www.whatsapp.com/faq/en/general/28030002

Yes, whatsapp saves media in server for some time, but it's your fault if you remove the file. Implementing download again can save you sometimes, but it's not trivial since official clients doesn't have this.

coderus 2014-12-06 08:48

Re: Whatsup - Harmattan client

it's very trivial. media link is valid for a month or so. you can even open it in browser and get your media.
