Re: SailfishOS on Nexus 5
I would strongly suggest to install:
CM11 MultiRom then SFOS Personaly, I've never been able to run SFOS without MultiROM. |

Re: SailfishOS on Nexus 5
Installed 1.1.9.28 on my Nexus 5.
I installed 1.1.7 (Alpha 13 zip) first and then OTA updated to 1.1.9.28. No MultiROM, but CM11 and then SF Installation and upgrade worked without any issues. Great job guys!!! So far only issues that I have found. * Data not connecting on 4G. It connects fine on 3G. I am on T-Mobile USA. * Bluetooth connects to my Mazda. When calling, the volume is too high and can't seem to adjust using volume buttons * Battery seems to be draining faster than Jolla * Double tap does not work. I hope this can be fixed. I hate using buttons :) From just couple hours of testing, everything else seems to be working (Pretty impressive!! Thank you to all who is working on it!!!). The annoying touch screen lockup seems to be fixed (keeping my fingers crossed!). That was 1 main reason I could not switch to Nexus 5. |

what for screen lookup?

Re: SailfishOS on Nexus 5
After reading the ideas on the other topic i have restored my faith on jolla after trying the last update with the new ui on nexus 5. Imo they did not have a sound base before in terms of ui. Now it seems that they have fixed most things that annoy me. Of course the patches available on warehouse helped on this as well. Now i can start trying nexus for daily usage instead of n9. Many thanks to all efforts that enable us using sfos on nexus.

Re: SailfishOS on Nexus 5
Ah, finally installed 1.1.9.28 today and had no problems during it. So Nexus 5 runs Lollipop, and installed cm11 and sf with multirom from twrp recovery. Big thanks to all porters, amazing work. :)

Re: SailfishOS on Nexus 5
Hi Everyone,
Can someone help me out. I just flashed CM-11 then sailfish 1.7. Everything went fine. I then updated to 1.9 per the documentation mer libhybris site. Again, no issues. However when trying to install apkenv I get the below error. Authentication required for 'https://store-repository.jolla.com/releases/1.1.9.28/jolla-hw/adaptation-lge-hammerhead/armv7hl/?credentials=store' Anyone encounter this? The OS is fresh (for all intensive purposes). |
Re: SailfishOS on Nexus 5
You need to remove the adaption0 repository. Check with the guys on IRC to be sure.

Re: SailfishOS on Nexus 5
i now have a super cheaply acquired Huewie P8, so I can afford to play around with my Nexus5. couple of n00b questions if I may:
1. do we expect (the real) SFOS 2.0 to arrive for soon for the N5? 2. do we anticipate SFOS 2.0 working with CM-12 soon, or stick with 11? |
Re: SailfishOS on Nexus 5
2.0 is here, if you mean the UI?
and i think there sticking with cm11 since cm12 brings no real improvements, but you'd have to ask on irc to be sure. I remember someone was trying to make it work on cm12 but can't remember the result. |

Re: SailfishOS on Nexus 5
No multirom required for me. The install path was
Unlock+root Nexus 5-> install TWRP recovery -> Under TWRP install Cm11 + factory wipe + install 1.1.7.28 image on top of that -> upgraded to 1.1.9.28 with wiki instructions (OTA upgrade). Later 1.1.9.30 and 2.0.0.10 as OTA. I'm going to use it as my second daily driver and report findings here. Problems so far (updated 2016.01.14): Finally I gave up Sailfish with Nexus 5 because of call issues caused by stuck sensors (screen blanking didn't work during calls). * Keyboard sound and haptic comes and goes. More often doesn't work than works. Same goes with keyboard sound btw. Less annoying if I just turn them off completely. * Video recording crashes camera app * No 4G * Touch sensitivity is good, but it is harder to successfully trigger long press action compared to Jolla. Very noticeable in a moving bus. * Calibration issue with brightness; suddenly went very dark and brightness slider run out of scale. Reboot fixed. * Battery in the standby mode (~34 hours in idle standby). The problem is caused by sensor processes. See https://bugs.nemomobile.org/show_bug.cgi?id=837 . Battery usage during actual use of the phone is on par with Jolla phone. * Because of sensor processes eventually getting stuck, you have to reboot the phone daily. This is to clear up situations where you answer the phone and the screen does not blank out but keeps getting contact with your ears and cheek. * Some applications from Jolla store still don't scale properly (Compass as an example), but there are no scaling issues in OS itself anymore. * Applications using HERE Maps as base don't work (Transit Live), as it does not exist on Nexus 5 (licensing I suppose) * Scrolling in some apps (Contacts) is a lot worse than on Jolla for some reason. UX elements are very smooth, as is sailfish-browser too, so it isn't about the performance. * Rotation stuck to landscape in applications once (no patches). Reboot fixed. This seems to happen once in every few days, and because of this it is best to enforce orientation into portrait under screen settings. * Often calendar alarms cannot be acknowledged. You get the alarm sound but the screen stays off. When you open the screen, the alarm is not visible anymore. * No account support for Microsoft's activesync. For calendar and contacts you have to use services that support CalDAV and CardDAV. Good to know beforehand if you are not in the position to choose from. [* I claimed before that there was 'No word suggestions in virtual keyboard'. Actually there is; you have to install jolla-xt9 package. This was described in the first post of this thread. Stupid me.] Obvious drawbacks: * There is no aliendalvik, so no those few useful apps such as are needed for flight check-ins. It is this kind of thing is where it starts hurting if you don't have an extra mobile device with you. * No double tap to open. (Kind of workaround is to have LPM mode enabled, so you can doubletap while the screen is on when you take the phone out of your pocket.) Overall: We all know Sailfish pluses such as swiping, good contacts app with xmpp-integration etc, so of course I'm very happy with SailfishOS on Nexus 5. (Update: Or was until the sensor problems started to be really irritating.) It does not run out of memory, doesn't need swap, is stable and has a bigger and far clearer screen than Jolla has. It also has better pocketability, while being pretty much 1:1 in size. Thinner but couple of millimeters longer in the middle. I'd switch to it as my main phone from Jolla anytime should it have aliendalvik. I like emulators on android, and they are almost nonexistent in pure Sailfish environment. |

It seems to be good enough for daily usage, minus these small niggles. I've used it now for several days as a work phone without any issues. Hasn't crashed and has been reliable so far. :) |
Re: SailfishOS on Nexus 5
Fair enough...
You just never know the things that may get missed by them, extra eyes observing issues & reporting them where they're likely to be read -could be helpful. But doing so here (as you say), can also be helpful for end-users considering "dipping their toes." :) |
Re: SailfishOS on Nexus 5
Has anyone else tried SFOS 2.0 Beta0 yet?
https://wiki.merproject.org/wiki/Ada...for_hammerhead I've been playing with it all day. Things feel more stable and snappier overall! |
Re: SailfishOS on Nexus 5
I run it on a daily basis since day 1. I totally replaced my Jolla by the N5. 2 things I really miss:
- I didn't find any working flashlight application, what is strange is the flash is indeed well controlled by the camera application. - a navigation application similar to Here (offline, vocal guidance, etc). |

Have you already tried that plugin on N5? https://openrepos.net/content/sfietk...jolla-settings |
Re: SailfishOS on Nexus 5
Just tried, doesn't work.

Re: SailfishOS on Nexus 5
I think the nexus 5 has a diff api for it. Easiest way to check it is if we can get hold of the cameraplus source for nexus 5 because the torch on that worked.
|
Re: SailfishOS on Nexus 5
Yes, but the Jolla Camera works and correctly manages the flash.
|
Re: SailfishOS on Nexus 5
That is also true, hmmm
|
Re: SailfishOS on Nexus 5
Updated to Sailfish OS 2.0.0.10 on my Nexus 5.
Just follow the instructions on WIP Over-the-Air updates (OTA) You still have to update to interim 1.1.9.30 first before updating to 2.0.0.10 1. Change the command "ssu release 1.1.9.28" to ssu release 1.1.9.30" first complete update procedure step by step. 2. Reboot 3. Change "ssu release 2.0.0.10" complete the update procedure step by step. 4. Reboot. |
Re: SailfishOS on Nexus 5
...and don't worry if SFOS stills shows 1.1.9.30 in GUI and terminal. You can check you've upgraded to 2.0.0.10 on the events view (you should have the switches and shortcuts on the top, and twitter feeds on the bottom).

Re: SailfishOS on Nexus 5
I have been using Jolla from the beginning. I recently got a n5 and like to try SFOS with it. Not that familiar with Android flashing and rooting, so I'm asking little help to go through it.
Is this the guide that I should follow to complete the job? https://wiki.merproject.org/wiki/Ada...for_hammerhead or is there an easier way to do it? Thanks in advance! |

Make sure the Android tools is working and connecting correctly to the Nexus 5. Then Unlock the bootloader on your Nexus 5 Then follow the instructions you linked. You may or may not be able to go directly to 2.0.0.10. If you can't go to 1.1.9.28, then 1.1.9.30and then 2.0.0.10. ssu release <version you want to update to> Good luck. Sailfish is pretty much usable on Nexus 5. You do have some issues with Audio, Bluetooth, Camera, etc in addition to having no Android run time. |

Re: SailfishOS on Nexus 5
What am I doing wrong?
I unlocked and installed cm11. Everything went fine. But now I cannot install SFOS on top of it... I have tried to flash it over cm and beside it with multirom. It always gets stuck on the Google bootloader. WIth multirom cm starts fine. Here are some pics from the process https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...28Small%29.jpg https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...28Small%29.jpg https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...28Small%29.jpg |
