Re: SailfishOS 2.0 Nexus5 based on CM13 alpha release

First, thanks for all of your help and input in all of the posts. While I haven't read all of them, I have searched for this and haven't found an answer that works.

I have successfully installed SFOS 3.2.0.12 on my Nexus 5. There is only one major thing that is keeping me from using it as a daily driver. I can't get Google to sync with the phone at all. In fact, I can't add Google to the phone. I can add an email address, and I can download my contacts.vcf, but when I get to the login page when adding a Google account I get a screen that says to input the code (A really really long one) into the application. I haven't seen where to input that code, and it certainly doesn't look like everyone else's where you move on after logging in and setup what you want to sync.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Seems like you got the wrong repos, can you post the output when you added the neccesary repos before upgrading?

Hi, sorry, i don't know anything about this specific google stuff. Maybe it would be better to look or ask for help for this specific problem at together.jolla.com.

For email sync you don't need to do magic only add your google email address but you already know that.
I have not tried to sync calendars or contacts, maybe that is possible. Or maybe it was just google changed something on their side and it isn't so straight forward anymore. As on Nexus 5 we do not have android support I have a feeling that syncing with google is not as easy as on Android. But maybe I am wrong.

If this is stopping you to use the Nexus 5 with Sailfish OS as daily driver, you can purchase an officially supported device with Android support or just live without the constant syncing on your Nexus.
I personally don't have problem with only syncing the emails in every hour or so and if I need, add a new contact or calendar entry manually. This is a fair price for getting a little privacy and not having a phone that is constantly beeping and flashing because of a 'very important' notification. :)

I don't need the constant notification of email. Frankly, I don't care if email works natively or not. I do, however, want to be able to see my google calendar, and it seems like add a google account in settings is the only way. I have had no success in looking through the together.jolla.com articles and posts. I found others with the same issue, but they said it either never started working or that it suddenly started letting them add it with no idea what happened.

Hello,
The new release 3.2.1.20 may will fix this issue.
This is what I found in the release notes:
"2019-12-16: 3.2.1.20 was released to Early Access subscribers. Signing in to Google accounts fixed."

Once this release is available for Nexus too, you can try and confirm. :D

Thank you! Since I'm so new to this, this next question will probably show how new I am. Is it possible to upgrade from 3.2.0.12 to 3.2.1.20 now? I mean if I had the correct repositories? Thanks for your help.

I decided to be adventurous and just try it. We'll see how it goes. It's still downloading the updates. If it crashes it, no biggie, I can just reinstall the os. I'll report on what happens though.

I used an upgrade tool from the openrepos to do it. It seems to be ok so far.
