Thanks, FiSHBoY and dj_steve for your help and my apologies for posting in this thread about issue....

But you were right that file did get extracted...

So, finished the rest of the steps, rebooted, selected Android, pressed enter key (screen says 'center' by the way...) and then after a while, N900 just reboots back to boot menu screen.....

:(

Linux Mint is far from compulsory to install android on the N900.

If you don't know anything about Linux and want drop-dead simple instructions, Linux Mint is one of your best choices for variety of Linux to run on your desktop computer. Ubuntu should be just as good.

If you are adept at running Linux, go to town -- I imagine you can run practically any Linux variant and be happy.

Have you not read any of the last couple of pages, or are you just trying to piss people off by being so stupid?

to make it simpler: WAIT with installing/updating android! a new rootfs will be out SOON with i'm guessing a WORKING WiFi among other surprises! :)

P.S

If you need help, use the help thread! this thread is already huge and hard to navigate! :D

If thats the case it's 1-0 and Tobyax is in the lead...

And could you please keep the namecalling out of this thread... This has been one off the few threads on TMO where the tone has been friendly all the way, so why don't we keep that up?

Let's focus on the dev and peoples problems.

Yes he should have read up on the wifi not working, i agree, but chill mate, it's just a forum for a phone. One f****ng lovely phone :D

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

Sorry, It IS NOT Responding just NOKIA logo with a small box bellow, HELP!!! After flashing it to R&D:
flasher-3.5 --set-rd-flags=no-ext-wd,no-lifeguard-reset --enable-rd-mode -f -k Downloads/zImage -R

juandp77 2010-07-08 23:54

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

reflash your kernel

flasher-3.5 --disable-rd-mode -f -F RX-51_2009SE_3.2010.02-8_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin --flash-only=kernel - R

also there is no need to switching R&D mode anymore check the instructions in the 215 page

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

Problem is, I can't now bring to down to flashing mode by usually holding 'u' when power off, but i can't power of it now! And it says device not found

juandp77 2010-07-09 00:05

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

do this: conect the usb both to the phone and the cpu then remove the batery an put it back again dont forget to keep holding the "u"

1 - Keep your N900 turned off

2 - Execute the command to reflash the kernel (It will say: waiting for device).

3 - Plug your N900 holding 'U' key.

I followed the instructions (p215) "exactly" but what I get during booting is the screen with N900 boot menu and then numbers corresponding the options where you would like to boot, like 0: maemo, 1: android, 2-...: etc

I did not get the screen I am supposed to see:
"1. On first boot you will get a prompt of what to use to do something, pick setupwizard" <-- dj steve's last part of instruction

when I press android it just keeps rebooting.

I did this 3 times and the same problem occured.

troubleshooting i've done:
-did tried to disable rd mode
-did tried to rm -rf /and/* prior to rootfs extraction
-did tried to flash the kernel via pc

can someone please help? Many thanks

you should try to boot from the number of your partition in my case in order to boot i have to press number 2 (maybe you should try the others numbers)

You're welcome :)...

Yes it's true you don't need RnD mode anymore with the new rootfs 0.0.5-1, but this build the wifi is broken and there will be a new rootfs soon where thats fixed. If you want to try it out anyways just follow this link:
http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...postcount=2142
But first you have to disable RnD mode. You have to flash this code to your N900. It's the same way as flashing the zImage just with this code instead ;) Code is in link bellow:
http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...postcount=2155

@NITdroid developers

Can you add the g_ether module to the android kernel modules ?

With this module missing, the usb networking is not working in maemo mode.

And this is annoying when a windows desktop only is available.

Thanks in advance.
