jPhone sounds like a cheap Apple knock off to me, which it really isn't. Stick to what Jolla called it I say, or as Javispedro found, if you need a more complex name the JP-1301

Does the native browser have "find in page" function? I can't seem to find it anywhere...

No, I believe it's one of the things that were requested to Jolla.

Then...
JP-1301 it is. Assuming JP stands for jPhone. JP-999 can be optional :D

Sailfish is standalone as brand. That's OK. Jolla isn't. Can name it:
Jolla FE(first edition)

No need to call it FE. Jolla is just fine as long as there is only one model. Nobody talks about king Henry I, until there is a Henry II.

And please do not call it jPhone: that is really awful.

Me, I love jolla (pronounced yolla).

Is there a solution to delete the files (".obb", etc.) of Android Apps? Only with "Devloper Mode"?

Just wondering if anyone has tried doing laser etching on TOH? Not sure the result will be very visible (or even look good).

Is there a way to sync calendar between live.com and Sailfish/Jolla?
I guess just reading my calendar would be enough.

Doesn't live.com have Exchange support, and you can download that to your Jolla? I haven't tried it myself, but saw other people mentioning it. If there isn't support, feel free to add this to together.jolla.com so that folks can vote on it.

I haven't received my Jolla yet, I can't confirm compatibility but I see no reason why it wouldn't work.

I just received my Transcend 64 GB card. Connected to my PC and it is in exFAT format. I have not tested it on the Jolla yet, however, as I understand exFAT is not supported?

What format should I pick, to ensure decent compatibility between my Windows 7 computers and my Jolla phone?

FAT32 works. To get the music available I had to make a symlink to /home/nemo/Music -folder.

I formatted mine as btrfs in the device, and it works just fine.

What format should I pick, to ensure decent compatibility between my Windows 7 computers and my Jolla phone?

Somebody mentioned that for cards to be SDXC, they have to come formatted as exFAT, not supported currently in the Jolla. btrfs/ext4 will do the magic.

And btrfs works without need for additional trics both in Jolla and can be also used for copy/paste in Windows? How to format it in the device?

You need to know what you are doing really, and I suggest that you always format on the Jolla. You can't use btrfs or ext4 in Windows unless you have something that can read/write to those file systems. I expect that the normal Windows user will have to live with some flavour of FAT.

Not that I'm aware of... there are a few suggestions for the media player in together.jolla.com, not sure whether search is one of them, but it's worth looking for it+voting or adding it.

The Jolla phone boots very fast, gotta love systemd :), but maybe some animated boot splash image would make it feel even faster.

My N9 currently has an uptime of 134 days. While I doubt the Jolla will soon get to that number because of updates, I expect it to reboot not very often. So, what's the point of having fast boot times?..

For example, when your plane has just landed and you are waiting to make that important phonecall. Nothing beats my trusty old 6310i in that situation, though. ;)

But that need to shut down might be history soon.

Do not use btrfs until you know what you are doing, btrfs is still supported only by linux not Windows.

Actually, you need additional trick to get your Jolla to mount btrfs -formatted sdcard - check this:

Have the phone in airplane mode? That way no need to switch off...

I always power off my phone, just like I power off other devices that I don't need.

I believe Jolla & HTC One (since Sense 5.5 update) are now the only flagship smartphones that have an alarm clock that works also when the phone is powered off. This requires an RTC with alarm function and ability to boot the device. Great to see that despite losing Nokia's hardware, Jolla is keeping the legacy of great phones alive.

Anyway to play .MKV files on jolla?

Can't get it to work. What formats can jolla handle if I have to convert. Jolla should implement a converter in their next jPhone ll if the can't play it.

I indeed switch to airplane mode when flying. I guess that's better than switching on the device mid-flight (or worse: when landing..) with all radios blazing.

I too switch devices off or use their standby-modes when not in use. Unless unplugging or an actual disconnecting switch from mains it still leaves a fire hazard, but they've got the energy waste pretty good under control. I'm not going to unplug my tv or pull chargers to try to save <<1W, when I'm going to use them on daily basis anyway.

Still, it's nice to see Jolla booting quickly, but it doesn't beat my (Kubuntu) pc with ssd just yet. There's room for improvement ;)

It works for me... I only have the white one. In fact, I discovered that the white other half downloaded a tenth ambience when i switched tohd.service back on. So, I'm assuming that yours is running too, right? If not, you may want to stop and start it and see what happens.

Make sure that you can access the Jolla store too. Read: make sure that you have your Jolla account set up and all that.

I have tried that, it keep saying 'Jolla store problem: this other half already in use', I no problem with jolla account and I am able to download and install apps.

The problem I think is that Jolla device is not own by me originally, I get from ebay, and that user already downloaded the ambience with his Jolla account, so I used by own account and can't able to download? and give me that warning message?

Just I guess, no any confirmation..

Sadly, you may be right. I wonder what Jolla has to say about these cases, it is similar to second hand games which have a feature that only works for the first owner. On the other hand, it isn't too crazy for the first owner to be able to release their ambience so that you can get it again.

Luckily, we are talking about an image here and not expensive content.

I just guess by the warning message...I think mostly is correct.
Maybe I tried ask that user see whether he can give me his Jolla account to me or not...LOL

Would you happen to know that codec is used inside the .mkv you've tried to play? I've been able to play .mkv's with H264 and AAC audio just fine with 'Gallery.'

If I'm not entirely mistaken, codec support is controlled by Gstreamer (please correct me if I'm wrong about that). From what I can see gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg-0.10.13-10.1.2.jolla.armv7hl is what's installed on the Jolla, so it ought to support any codecs supported by FFmpeg. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FFmpeg#Codecs

I had some videos converted for my N9 as per settings stated below. These videos play on Jolla but there is no audio. What settings would you suggest to convert videos optimized for playback on Jolla?

Preset Name: NokiaN9
Preset Label: Nokia N9
Preset command line parameters: $ -s 854x480 -r 25 -g 25 -vcodec libx264 -vb 1536k -vprofile baseline -acodec ac3 -ab 192k -ac 6
Output file extension: mp4

Current regulations are in many cases that you must switch off during take-off and landing. You may use phone during flight with flight-mode (which implies you have it enabled before switching off). This is however changing, already some airlines in US don'r require switching off and also EU is changing regulations.

Well there doesn't seem to be ac3 decoder on Jolla, so ac3 audio is out. MKV (matroska) files play, but aren't seekable.
So I guess the best modern file format would be mp4, video h.264, audio aac. Screen resolution is 960x540, so no need for higher resolution than that.

If using ffmpeg like in your example, something like this should work. (just tested these and seemed to work)
-s 960x540 -vcodec libx264 -crf 26.0 -acodec libvo_aacenc -b:a 128k -ac 2

[edit] But for some reason the device/gallery won't even see the file I tried to make... Need to investigate.
[edit2] Tracker seemed to be bit lazy and didn't notice the new file until tracker restart.
