Yep, that's it. No idea why you had it that big. The default is as shown on the screenshots. Anyways, looks like you found a solution :)

Haha thanks for the reply. I was kinda hoping no email notification with the contents of my failure to learn about the ability to use the hardware zoom would go out. ;)

Anyways, thank you for all your great work, Cornelius! Conboy is what I use the most on my n900, I hope there'll be someone to take over.

On top of that I recently heard that U1 team will be discontinuing notes syncing feature and I don't know of any other compatiable service.

According to http://voices.canonical.com/ubuntuone/?p=1401 you'll still be able to sync notes, but not be able to read them via the web interface.
