Re: [Announce] USB hostmode beta release
That's correct; USB wiring is is black ground, red positive, green/white data +ve/-ve (see my pictures on the previous page).
Aside from hen/the bme being set up correctly to accept charging during host mode, is it really that simple to splice in a power supply? I assume that'd be a dumb male USB port? |
Re: [Announce] USB hostmode beta release
You don't usually want to mess with splicing USB cables. Data transfer might be messed up when the cable's shielding and parallel wires have a break - especially in highspeed mode.
instead you can use commercially available adapters, as they ship with a lot of peripherals, especially HDDs but also other power greedy stuff. Similar to this: http://media.share.ovi.com/m1/s/2667...690eda6846.jpg The silver-transparent adapter came with the white 3G-Dongle. It is a USB-AM<->USB-AF extension with a branch to an auxiliary 2nd USB-AM from the first one. The 2nd plug is only for powering VBUS, and is supposed to get plugged into a second host port to supply the 3G stick with an additional 500mA. Here it's plugged to a USB wallwart charger, thus powering both ends of the whole cable nest with 5V. You can use such a setup right now for powering the peripheral so N900 doesn't have to provide the current - just plug in the N900 side of cable immediately after you clicked "VBUS boost on" in h-e-n GUI. The N900 will not mind any external supply supporting the internal 5V booster. see http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...203#post921203 for powering the N900 while in hostmode. cheers jOERG |
patch for mount.sh
- list=`awk '$4~"[0-9]$"{print $4}' /proc/partitions | grep -v "mmcblk*" | grep -v "loop*"`
+ list=`awk '$3~"[0-9]$"{print $4}' /proc/partitions | grep -v "mmcblk*" | grep -v "loop*"` original awk line will not enumerate patitions without numbers in name of part. this minor change made script search criteria #blocks not name&number and will mount partitions ( as expected ) without number in partition name like "sda" |
Re: [Announce] USB hostmode beta release
hello , pendrive , mouse or keyboard run well in my n900 but
i bought this usb hub http://www.soyntec.com/us-en/item/nexoos_395_black and i tried and tried with charger o without charger and only with one thing , for example only hub+mouse or only hub+keyboard and nothing , and well?? i saw a quake 2 video in youtube with hub with mouse and keyboard . if my mouse and my keyboard run well in hen without hub , only one conected and my mouse and my keyboard normally are using with low speed mode , it is more compatibility in theory why with hub are not running , ??? any idea?? thanks for hen |
Re: [Announce] USB hostmode beta release
hi samipower,
try to enumerate hub first (using highspeed, hubs convert speed for e.g mouse etc). Check in dmesg and lsusb if everything went fine. Then plug in mouse and keyboard. Happy new year! cheers jOERG |

wishing you all a very happy new year. I tried a usb light and it worked. just connect in any speed and press Vbus and you are on. Good luck. thanks. http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/...ent-1M42OV.jpg |
Re: [Announce] USB hostmode beta release
Just here to confirm it works on my N900.
PR1.2 Kernel Power v46 I'll take a picture of it later. This is incredible, you guys. I've never seen such streamlined and sophisticated homebrew before. All it took to connect a flash drive, were about 4 ticks of the stylus. |
Re: [Announce] USB hostmode beta release
