However, I could not see the original photos but a version of reduced resolution by Twitter. Am I missing something and the actual photos are able to be downloaded somehow from Twitter? ...as looking at those may help a lot deciding the quality. |
Re: Are you Ready? F(x)tec Pro 1 HW Keyboard Phone
I would really like to see the original pics too. All I saw was the Twitter post.
I don't use Twitter so I don't know how much the compression they use affects the overall quality. From what I saw there, exposure, dynamic range, highlights, bokah, they all lack. I didn't mention the noise since that's probably affected from Twitter compression, but I don't know about the rest! Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk |

Remember these are not official marketing images just some casual photos. Anyway, I think they are much better than the version reduced by Twitter, at least I like them much more. :) |

Looks like I was right though. Anyway, I think the most important think would be to reach a decent level at launch, cause you can improve quality with software updates every month. That's what every company does either way! Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk |

Basically because I don't really see those manipulations usually exists on every Android devices I saw so far... Usually photos have blur effect applied and then sharpened in order to eliminate the noise at sensor level and it makes a strange output if you see those photos closer - they have much less details because of this trick. So maybe this trick is not applied here or it is at way lower level which is absolutely a good point. Also, I don't see much noise in these photos, but it will definitively different in photos taken in low light. ...and yes, it may be improved in later updates or some filter settings may be turned on or off - I rather would like to see photos without the trick mentioned above as I may do modifications myself if I would like to and that way I have a more detailed photo. |

I know the reason the pixel produces great shots is a lot down to the image processing rather than the sensor. I'm expecting the Pro1 to deliver as good quality hopefully... |
Re: Are you Ready? F(x)tec Pro 1 HW Keyboard Phone

One thing is the image processing and another one is the noise of the sensor itself which is not only depends on the sensor by its own but the internal electronics. For example a stable, appropriately filtered power supply is also a key value. Maybe that is one of the reasons why there are many phones with the blur then sharpen it way of image post-processing. In this relation, I think Pro1 may be among the higher image-quality phones. So, these photos are not perfect, but I think what we can see is not bad at all. |

Re: Are you Ready? F(x)tec Pro 1 HW Keyboard Phone
Personally I really like that picture of the dark window, no noise in the totally dark parts and still has plenty of detail wherever something is visible, I like it. The flower with the obviously fake bokeh... I dislike this type of effect, in any phone, but it's hip right now and implemented as good as any I've seen. The two cameras could help focus faster though which is cool, do not know if the software can do this.
The real question will be the whole experience that we can only see in real though I think: how fast does it focus, what's the shutter lag like, does it consistently focus correctly? Those things are more important than just image quality IMO, but the quality of the images is definitely good enough for me. And I really can't wait to have 2-stage button on a phone again, i find it makes any camera much more usable. |
Re: Are you Ready? F(x)tec Pro 1 HW Keyboard Phone
I'm thinking of getting the Galaxy Watch, but should I wait until I have my Pro1?

* : [Edit] This would imply however that both cameras are used to take pictures with different focal points, as some niche cameras do, but I don't think this is what smartphone dual cameras are made for (is the second camera used just to ease focusing?). So I guess it is just the limits of the fake bokeh effect when the planes on the images are not easily discriminated. Overall, I don't think the fake bokeh is realistic, and it tends to be uneven across the picture. I do not mind much anyway because this is not something I will use (won't use Android, and won't use the Pro1 to take "good" pictures), whereas it might be a good selling point for many users. |

Do you use n9 as a primary device? If yes, then wait for the pro1. Sorry to hear you are ill. Talking about conspiracies, "they" really got "us" hooked on toys, audiovisual entertainment of all kinds, sitting life style in work, useless gym efforts due to generations of bad food advice. May I be so free to deviate from the topic to add that during the "waiting time" for mobile devices , books or other things to arrive, one should really think about shifting & investing time, study effort and resources to the sole purpose to stay healthy and increase one's own longevity so that the waiting time doesn't matter because you feel great and no need to imagine all will be well when that much anticipated thing arrives. When you arrive to live up to your own potential, or just feel you are restoring your precious health from another dip and taking all measure to prevent that to repeat, that's a greater gift. No health means no point doing anything else even the long awaited uber mobile device will mean short lived pleasure at the end. Thanks for your consideration and , now I am done waiting for this device already even done checking the status, will see your in depth reviews after platform maturisation in 5 yrs ;-) |

My girlfriend has some pretty modern smartphone with modern dual camera setup, and the phone is capable to shoot pretty nice photos in daylight at least. The auto mode recognizes people and faces and tries to light them properly, but also tries to adjust bright and dark areas to prevent burning etc. In many situations it performs surprisingly well. Of course it's not enough for a professional and even a non-professional recognizes the quality if you try, for example, to print the picture in poster size. But for casual, everyday use it is easily enough. Also the DSLR is something you don't want to carry around everywhere you go, but the phone is in your pocket almost always. I love my Pentax but it's quite laborious to always transfer the photos to a pc (and not just any pc but your own pc which has Darktable installed), do the post-processing and convert to jpg/png before you are ready to publish or even show the photo for anyone. Having an easy option with instantly ready pictures is a good thing. But in more difficult situations, like low light, moving targets (fast shutter speeds, fast continuous shooting and short shutter lag), very cold conditions, multi-day adventures with no recharging abilities etc, is great to have a proper camera instead of a phone. |

Re: Are you Ready? F(x)tec Pro 1 HW Keyboard Phone
The first units are expected to ship two days before the Brexit deadline and no one knows if a deal will be signed or not. I wonder how much the expected shipping logistics could be impacted in case of a no-deal.
Is there anyone in the field who could summarize the potential consequences and workarounds for F(x)tec to deliver outside UK? The pre-ordered devices are already paid and taxes were included in the price, so maybe those shipments would be less impacted than units purchased after the Brexit (?), or is it the same for all units arriving at the border after the Brexit regardless of the bill date? |
Re: Are you Ready? F(x)tec Pro 1 HW Keyboard Phone
I'm pretty sure they talked about establishing a warehouse in the Netherlands as well as the UK one.

Re: Are you Ready? F(x)tec Pro 1 HW Keyboard Phone
yes, and in the meantime Chen wrote a reply on twitter that everything is still as planned (at the moment).

We're two weeks from the deadline, so surely they already considered the issue earlier and already know if and how a no-deal would alter their sale/shipment plans. If they expect no change, then I assume he would have replied just that, but he did not. I did not reply again on Twitter because I don't want to cause bad PR with additional questions, obviously Chen didn't want to go into details in his reply and I respect that. I would have preferred asking here only but we all know he said he would not chime in this thread any longer. |
