How are you trying to install them? Via Bluetooth ?

Once the files have been transferred you need to open them. Go to settings and then look for transfers and the list of files will be there. Just click to install.

Hmm, I just noticed that there is a constant little red light on on my Jolla, it's at the upper right corner of the phone, next to the speaker, I'm pretty sure it wasn't there before. Does everyone have that? I can see it best in a dark room.

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread

Just a quick one - On double tap (let's call this the unlock screen) - the icons that show up on the left side of the screen are (I assume) notifications? I've got 2 separate notifications with "Transfer" icons, a Mitakuuluu notification with a non transparent background, and a Jolla notification icon. The actual applications make it clear that there's no unread messages and nothing unchecked. I've been tapping all over the place and can't seem to figure out how to clear these...

Also, after a couple of reboots (which I thought would clear the notifications) I noticed that my mobile network signal showed no signal - grey/light grey bars coloured signal bar... but I can still make outgoing calls  I'm guessing that this is 2G, but the light grey/grey stripes make it difficult to see actual signal power. Forcing 2G and then back to prefer 3G appeared to fix the problem. A force 3G option would be great though

Not sure what you mean by Transfer icon. Though you will see a lot of stuff there.
You can access notifications (and clear them) by swiping from bottom of the frame towards the screen.

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread

Great... that worked... for some reason I missed the swipe up when tapping everything I could see.

Suddenly my jolla is giving me "no network found" with a sim which works fine in a different phone at the same location. Would welcome any ideas. I have tried reboot, battery pull and enabling and then disabling flight mode. No matter what I do, no network is found. Am writing this using a sim on the same network in the same place!

Have also tried switching to 2g only - no difference:-((

I have had connection errors but mobile network has always been stable. Have you tried removing and cleaning the sim. Also does pressing on the sim card area restore the connection?

Seen one post where someone s sim slot was causing issues.

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread

Jolla battery life

Now nearly 2 months of use and last 3 weeks with the NFC tin foil fix applied!

Observations.

Battery life is better than my N900 and way better than my N9. It’s not just the standby time but the usage that is the big difference. On my N9 I never had my chat accounts active and definitely not bluetooth. I could get a good days usage but the battery meter was so unreliable as to be near useless under 50%. I lost count of the number of times it would drop from 40% to 4% (yes I know there is a bug) and then on reboot it would appear as 20% and then get the rattle of death at 2% and die before you could get a charger plugged in.

My Jolla is a different experience, the battery % is very accurate and falls in a linear fashion and that is with bluetooth, tweatian streaming and chat accounts active as well as positioning on too. It is a much more reliable experience and makes the phone use that much smarter and me that much less paranoid about battery time left.

Today I was asked from a friend to send him an .mp3 file via bluetooth and I couldn't figure it out! Is it even possible currently? Nice share options are available in Gallery for images and videos, but not in media player.

There is no way in N9, or is there? Maybe we have to wait for file manager that has sharing options.

It might be a piracy related that music player can't share files, I don't know.

where does jolla store application data? for example, where do the files for the Notes application go? I have some text data on N900 (via built-in Notes application) that i want to transfer to Jolla.

On Nokia N9 with a file manager (and the global sharing menu) it was possible to send everything via Bluetooth. But even N9 didn't offer sharing option from within the music application.

Hi guys,

I have just received my LE Other Half.

Anyone knows what is supposed to do? I replaced teh withe with the orange OH and then I switched off and on the device but nothing changes.

I did not go through the entire thread, sorry if the question has already been posted.

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread

Try it again until it pops up the info that it found the other half and allows you to install the special ambience.
Also make sure to have the tohd.service running if you disabled it (as the workaround for the battery drainage issue)

simon@ 2014-01-17 14:39

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread

Service tohd has been disabled because of the battery drain. That's why it was not working. Thanks a lot llelectronics! :)

Under Settings - Apps - Email:

You can edit the text of your email signature under the "Include signature" option.

Just got my microsd, decided to format it to btrfs for easy compatability (did it with ubuntu linux, don't know if it could have been formatted with Jolla). Then I formed a symlink for easy file transfer.

To everyone trying to create a symbolic link for sdcard: don't go to dev-mode (devel-su) or the link won't be created in home/nemo, which means the sdcard won't show when the device is connected to computer. For command-line beginners like me it isn't so clear at first :)

anyone? what's the best way to transfer the notes from n900 to jolla? it's not a couple of lines - i've got a lot of stuff in that text file on my n900.

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread

Just wondering if anyone has an idea of how the contacts are stored... Is it in sqlite or something? The whole thing with bad labels on contacts is annoying (especially when combined with the Sailfish WhatsApp client not reading non-mobile numbers at the moment). Possibly some commandline-fu might be able to fix this temporarily until either (or both) of the bugs are fixed...

As far as I've seen, "notes" in Maemo/N900 are HTML files stored in

/home/user/.osso/osso-notes/

While "notes" in Sailfish/Jolla are stored into a SQLITE file in

/home/nemo/.local/share/jolla-notes/QML/OfflineStorage/Databases

So I would be a question of converting formats, but my knowledge ends here. If I was you, I would try to find a Sailfish simple text editor.

shows hidden files on a terminal.

thx. my n900 notes is stored as text so no issues with format conversion. i think i'll use an evernote client instead...

Contact syncing is not working at the moment due to changes made by Whatsapp on their protocols. You will have to wait till developers reverse engineer these new protocols.
