* Just teasing, I wasn't one to complain about delays so far, I believe they're doing the best they can and any delivery date will be good enough for such a product.

Yea they're still playing coy about how many in the first batch and who's in it. For all we know it could only be 100 devices.
Glad they're on track to ship but apart from getting closer I have no clue when my order comes in. And at this point it could still be at least a month away based on their last estimate (having all pre orders out by the end of the November - going from memory, don't quote me on that)

Could be worse, they could say they've started shipping without sending out a single shipment notification. The Libre Purism 5 already pulled that trick, saying they've started shipping, but only having sent phones internally and to marketing heads. That's why I'll only trust third party verification that they've started shipping. At this point I still don't think fxtec's being malicious like that with these delays, but fxtec's not trustworthy at least.

I don't think they're malicious at all but they're also leaving themselves a lot of room for interpretation. I know they're a business and they have to play in their best interest. But without specific info, we just have to sit here and twiddle our thumbs until they tell us more. Really sucks to be on this side

Based on history, customs clearance shouldn't take more than a few days even in the worst case.

With this, I don't see why some of our Asian customers won't be able to unbox their devices next week :), with shipments from the UK and US following shortly after.

Liangchen has been preparing a video update from the factory for you, but I haven't yet been told when it will be sent. It could be out any minute.

So the "definitely not mid November" will become "best case scenario is mid November"?
This reminds me the jolla updates a few years back. People didn't care about updates for new investors, they cared about software and device updates.
Same thing here.
People want to know when the device is going to ship to them, meaning like a week or so to have it in your hands.
They don't care when the device is going to ship to this or the other warehouse, waiting for customs etc.
Sure, any update is welcome at this point when you have delay after delay, but it should be phrased correctly.
When you deny November and you say 29th of October we will ship, that means that the device is ready, certified, inspected, free of customs etc, and it will be shipped from the company's warehouse the given date.
I understand that many people here will be willing to pay high end price for an outdated device cause of the hardware keyboard, but I don't appreciate tricky word-plays about dates.
Anyway, best of luck to all supporters and the company.

For many of you it may be easy to pay almost 700€ on a new phone. I sold my motorbike to pay some of my expenses and to have money to buy the FX Tec Pro1. This is a small effort comparing to FX Tec team on bringing us a device that no other company even dared to develop. When someone depends on othe to make something possible is very complicated because many things can hapen. They started to ship today. Even though it should be from warehouses and not from factory it still hapened. Let them give a chance to deliver all devices and i am sure that if they develop pro2 they learned a lot with these mistakes

Aside from them saying they've started to ship, I haven't seen any reason to believe they've shipped to customers. I see no reason to just believe they really started to ship, just as I see no reason to believe previous promises.

I disagree. People have been complaining for weeks because there is no news, claiming that even news with no content would be good just to keep the thread open. Now we have news, with content detailing the ongoing process and current status, and confirmation that shipments are starting, yet it appears to make a good reason to complain too. From this point, if I was PR at F(x)tec, I wouldn't know how to improve communication as requested by customers.

I mentioned that right after the part you quoted.
I would accept any news myself, if it was (for example) mentioned that the shipping is going to happen late November, but now we are waiting for the Chinese customs. Now we are waiting for the devices to arrive at our warehouse etc.
But in that case, it's like mentioning shipping to the company, when it seemed like this day would be the day that they where going to ship to customers.

Brother, no one will give you a medal for going broke to buy a phone at this day and age. You have to rearrange your priorities and I'm saying that from the bottom of my heart!
Also about the second part, I disagree.
They won't give the devices for free or cheap. They saw a business opportunity, they grabbed it, they asked for funds and they will make profit. Nothing wrong with that obviously.
All I'm saying is that there is no reason to be "romantic" or something and I explained myself above.

Not asking for a medal nor money to buy it. I made the decision i wanted to. And my decision apart from wanting a dream device, was to help Chen and his team. No regrets from that for sure

Selling a motorcycle to get Fx phone? Man, you either have to have another two wheeler or the one you sold you didin't like. But to sell a motorcycle you love for a phone, that I can't understand.

By the way: my friends brother is making RMK electric motorcycles. Engine in the wheel. Zero chain, zero gear.

I sold it to pay the license (only could drive 125cc), to pay some expenses and to buy FX tec pro1. I like the Piaggio MP3 400 lte i had but i want to go a step higher

If it does well enough, maybe Samsung or a big player will wake up and make a QWERTY of their own. The main reason why they were killed off in the first place is because market research suggested there was no demand vs the more popular slabs we see everywhere. And it kinda showed with sales numbers as well. But there's obviously still a demand for this form factor

You never stop being exhausting. Liangchen's update is very positive and encouraging, and devices with moving parts and serviceable components instead of glue everywhere do take more time to assemble.

Very humbling to see Chen on video. Wish I could've met him at the NYC event but it's really clear this is a labor of love. Absolutely melted when he said hopefully on it's way to your home. Super excited

Decent update. Assuming it's true, they seem adamant that a large part of the orders (inferring a bit here) will get shipped this week. The explanation of it taking a relatively long time to assemble with a firm hour count explains why it's taking longer to me. However, no firm date again, and the 29th has come and gone (except for a couple of time zones) without anybody posting that they had a shipping confirmation.

I want to believe the video, but I just can't. Honestly, it might as well have been shot on the same day those pictures were taken, I see no difference or progress aside from Chen's words.

Well, what does that video say? We can put it into the scale ;)

In the one end of that scale there is just so as Liangchen said.

In the other end there is just a random brown carton. In that carton there just seemed to be at least one random black smaller box in plastic bag. The box was not opened. In the right side outside that carton there was a "device" that looked like a Pro1, but that could be easily just some earlier prototype with temporarily added protective film...

The truth is somewhere at that scale :D

It has now been 1 full day since the 29th of October, which they said would be the latest day they would ship to customers (not to fulfillment centers). Has anybody seen any shipping notification yet? Because I haven't. Wondering when that will change, I hope soon.

According to themselves on their forum it's only in Asia they sending to customers starting 29th, though no one on the forum has received a shipping number and posted (anecdotal as that is)

Nothing yet arrived in US or EU fulfillment centers, so will be another week or two before shipping out in those regions it seems.

Every time they post it's a delay or a shifting of the goalposts.

I'll be really glad when the phone is in hand as the product itself looks and seems great, but this final stretch has been rough, not a good look for them

I keep writing and deleting before posting for quite some time now.
It's just getting harder and harder to express myself without offending/triggering anyone, so it's getting annoying.
I'll just say that I hope the company makes enough profit to deliver pro2 in a couple of years, without crowdfunding, outdated specs, delays and drama.
