Re: Live Wallpaper discussion thread
Hello, I hope I'm posting this in the right place. Basically, I've been enjoying Live Wallpaper for a while now but there's one little kink that's kept bothering me and I was hoping if someone had a solution. I've been using Live Wallpaper in Slideshow mode with about 20 pictures to scroll through. However, there is one picture that never pops up. The picture is a jpeg file, 1280x1024 with a size of less than 300kb. And it really bothers me, I tried setting a Slideshow of only that single picture and I just get a black screen in my desktop. Every single other picture I have works, I thought at first it might be the physical size of the picture or size of the file but I've managed to get much larger pictures to work. Does anyone have any clues as to what could be going on? Thank you!

Re: Live Wallpaper discussion thread
hi everyone,
i would like to ask for some help. i want to use live wallpaper in slideshow mode, and i was wondering if it is possible to change the "time to change image" times (20, 40, 60, 120, 300) to whatever i want? i looked for a config file or something like that (maybe a .py file...?) where these times are set, but i could not find anything. could someone tell me where can i set these times? thanks, jm |

here you can find the ".deb" file for libxpm4 (or you can choose an other from here) you should download it to your n900, than: 1. open terminal 2. type: sudo gainroot 3. navigate to the location (folder) where you downloaded the ".deb" file 4. than type: dpkg -i "*.deb" (type the proper name of the deb file) 5. press Enter, the deb file will be installed than try to install xscreensavers again; this should work. jm |

Re: Live Wallpaper discussion thread
Does anybody know how to set up an app for use in LiveWallpaper, like Shermans Aquarium and the other apps under the Unknown category?
I'm trying to get this gstreamer visualization as a Live Wallpaper: gst-launch pulsesrc ! audioconvert ! tee ! queue ! monoscope ! ffmpegcolorspace ! xvimagesink So I put that in a shell script, and then created the XML file that LiveWallpaper uses for external themes. This shows under Unknown, but when I load it, it doesn't load in the root (background) window, but in its own window as usual. There is an attribute in the XML file (view) which I suspect has something to do with this. |
Re: Live Wallpaper discussion thread
According to Vlad in this post: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=341
There is an API to make applications work with LiveWallpaper. I'm wondering how that exactly works though. I'll have to investigate some more, or if anybody knows, please spill the beans. :) |
Re: Live Wallpaper discussion thread
The XML files are in /usr/share/livewp/external_theme/
For the purposes of LiveWallpaper, the Window Name value is very important, as that's the way it finds the application window to send it to the Hildon background. Reading through the Live Wallpaper source code is helpful. I'll have to find some more time for that. It's a good way to get the feet wet for development, anyway. I have a lot of ideas, but I don't have the experience yet to put them into practice. |
