Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

Just got through to MPD by phone on my first attempt ever. However, no news really. Just the standard it'll take 5 working days from the time the 'ready to despatch' status shows up. Since mine was on Thursday it could even arrive on Wed. Well I'll stick around til 1pm and then I can forget about it until I see the 'sorry we missed you' note. :(

I don't really mind waiting until Friday or even next week for the phone just so long as I know that they actually have all of the stock that they require to fulfil all of the pre-oreders as promised.

I ordered on the 24th November and am still showing 'Pending Stock' - do they actually have the stock or not!

For issues with faulty products - I believ that it is a legal requirement from wherever your purchased the product. It doesn't matter who manufactures the product - it is up to the retailer to get it sorted. I am almost 100% that that is correct.

So has no one received theirs today yet? I've got someone at my house that's gonna give it until 1:15pm and ring me if it hasn't arrived! Then I ring MPD and find out exactly where MY N900 is!

As with many people ordered back in Sept, and people with Oct orders received theirs on Friday! Out of order (in both meanings ofthe phrase!!).

They did state they where receiving them in batches - we do not know how many came or will be coming in each batches.

but as said many times before - do not take the statuses seriously - I have my N900 and mine still says ready for despatch.

I think they are concentrating on packinging them up and sending them out.

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

wouldnt surprise me if they just sent out what ever stock they had and change people's status's becuase it would get customers of there backs for a few days untill they could think of something else to come up with

Yes, you're right (my OH is a lawyer)- but still you need to check the smallprint for loopholes.

From noobMonkey's link http://www.out-law.com/page-430

In Refunds section..

... In certain circumstances the supplier may charge the consumer for the cost of the supplier recovering the goods (e.g. where the consumer fails to return them). To do so, the contract must specify that the consumer is under an obligation to return the goods if he or she cancels the contract and the consumer gets notice of this in advance as part of the written confirmation relating to the right to cancel. The costs cannot be passed on to the consumer where the goods are returned because they are faulty or do not comply with the contract for some other reason....

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

Just noticed 'Orders placed after 3pm on Friday or over the weekend will be processed on Monday (unless a bank holiday) and delivered Tuesday.' on their website- which COULD, i guess, mean that since my status changed to ready for despatch' on Friday, they could regard that as a Tuesday delivery?......... Grrr... if that is the case

Ordered mine on 2nd December.
The next day status changed to "pending PAC code" - so dutifully sent PAC code to MPD.

On Saturday got email confirmation MPD received PAC code

Now Monday morning (11:00am) status still says "Pending PAC code"!

I was expecting to get the phone within a couple of weeks should I be this "optimistic"???? ;)

No phone has put a dent in the happy :(, also still down as ready to dispatch.

Although from what im hearing that doesnt mean anything as phones have been recieved while still ready to dispatch.

Now the question is, do I goto the shop and risk missing the RM van?

Or do I suffer the pain of no ciggies!?

Yes the DSR applies to some extent if you wanted to return the goods but this particular case is dealing with a faulty product and therefore the Sale of Goods Act 1979 comes into force.

This requires that traders must sell goods as they are described
and that the goods are of satisfactory quality. It also sets out
remedies available to consumers if the goods do not meet these
requirements.

thiswayup - You should get back in touch with MPD and quote the 'Sales of Goods act 1979 to them and ask them to sort it out asap.

Yep me too. but I wouldnt worry about that. It will keep failing until it registers.

It should register by 4pm tomorrow so until it does, it will keep failing

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

Just came back to this thread to see how youre all getting on.

I cancelled my MPD order and went for an HTC HD2 from Voda. Other than the very infrequent bit of buggyness ( auto-rotate not working in SMS mode etc ) which have been resolved by a soft reset, I am very happy with the phone, especially considering its a Winmo device.

I am posting because the post above made me curious - I am waiting for my no. to be ported over from Orange to Vodafone and I just received a text from Voda saying my number will be ported at 4pm tomorrow. Weird.

Anyway, i really hope you all get them very soon, I am hoping to come back here and see lots of happy reports soon. I am interested because if the HD2 plays up at all I'll be demanding info re the N900 release direct from vodafone and asking for a swap, but I am keeping an eye on all these reports of bugs etc.

Tricky business getting a phone eh?

Hehe im on my last 2. But I have a horrible feeling that noone will be getting any today. Surely one of us would've received theirs by now if that wasn't the case?!? I hope to be proven wrong

Lads and ladettes!

Please please read back (Only about 10 pages or so) - lots has been written about the status and status updates. There is also guidance on PACs and how long it can take. Different companies do do it differently.

(Just found one of my posts here about pacs )

Im in exactly same boat. My shop is only 5 minutes away but it would be just my luck. Gonna go out in 20 minutes. I think if the mail came when i was at the shop i would probably just laugh and cancel my order as im clearly not supposed to have it.:p

Hey Guys I placed my order on Friday and I am not an impatient person and will happily wait until the delivery comes however that being said can we have an update on this forum referance the title Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers.

Im thinking under following info

Anyone received the device today?

If none, then that would imply that none was sent out on Friday (assuming that nobody received on Saturday either). My status is ready of dispatch since Thursday morning so I assume that would mean that at least it's in stock..

I would hope that the people with status "Ready to dispatch" literally means, they just have to post it to us...not that they are ready but don't have the stock... If it dos'nt come tommorow I am going to have to go back to uni for lectures and then not have it til the 19th... grr

Lol - date ordered is a goodone - status change not so - as it doesnt mean anything :)
You also need to include type of order, e.g. PAYG, contract (And with who) or sim free as it looks like they have been dealt with differently.

Date received in this thread is normally when you no longer hear from them :) - they have moved on into the "How do i do this on my n900" thread :)

I suggest everyone puts their info in their signature (see mine below) that way it's there each time you post :)- remember to put your status in there as well. (yeah, Noob, I know that doesn't mean much, but people keep asking :) )
