Yes, it reboots while completely idle. I've had the phone sitting on my desk and saw it reboot.

-No background programs running.
-No SSH connections
-No IM connections
-Just connected to WLAN, but not transferring.
-Phone is locked at home screen. Screen off.

2 or 3 days go by and I will see the phone suddenly display the Nokia logo, vibrate, and reboot.

And BTW next time you lock 250 as frequency to test what value SR calculates, do it without charger attached. As now you have :

Sorry, here are fresh numbers. Screen is on. Not connected to charger:

Code:

250 - vdd1_opp: 2 sr_vdd1_voltage: 23
500 - vdd1_opp: 3 sr_vdd1_voltage: 35
550 - vdd1_opp: 4 sr_vdd1_voltage: 54
600 - vdd1_opp: 4 sr_vdd1_voltage: 41
720 - vdd1_opp: 6 sr_vdd1_voltage: 60
805 - vdd1_opp: 7 sr_vdd1_voltage: 60
850 - vdd1_opp: 8 sr_vdd1_voltage: 52
900 - vdd1_opp: 9 sr_vdd1_voltage: 60

Just sitting idle, doesn't meant it rebooted because of KP fault...

first i already have multiboot installed

i donwloaded kernel-power kernel-power-modules kernel-power-flasher and kernel-power-bootimg and kernel-power-settings and installed in these same order

but still if i am in multiboot menu and press 0 to load the stock kernel

i always get guru meditation error! Why is it so hard for me!!?

If I use the Nokia kernel it never reboots.

I'm not using any "speed patch" or any of that other non-sense.

May I have your /dev/mtd2, and syslog (if sysklogd is installed). Also, is this(reboot) happened only once or it still reboots in 2-3 days?

If FM transmitter doesn't work:
Code:

sudo gainroot
echo "options fmtx-si4713 config_locked=0" > /etc/modprobe.d/fmtx_unlock.conf

and reboot.

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v49 in Extras-Devel

I have random and not reproducible abnormal power consumption problems.

Phone in idle starts consuming high and drains the battery to 0% from full 100% in 10-11 hours.
No overclock profile, no customization, no software running and cpu at idle.

Other my friends, with KP49, report same situation.

It happens sporadically, but it happens and it has never happened with previous kernels.

When it happens power consumption is like Pali's U-Boot, a decrescent line with about 45 degree inclination on BatteryGraph

If you want to boot some kernel with multiboot, you need bootimage of that kernel stored in /boot

So make sure you have boot image (zImage file for example) for that kernel in /boot...

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v49 in Extras-Devel

whats the boot image for stock kernel??

do u know that?

or how can i create it myself ??so that i can put it in the boot folder.

It should be in some multiboot-* package. for kernel-power it is package kernel-power-bootimg.

Ali 2012-01-12 15:34

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v49 in Extras-Devel

i could not find it in any multiboot or multiboot.d folder.

so how can i create or download from somewhere the stock img?

even the bootimg of kernel-power i can not find it i mean the kernel-power-bootimg.

that i just installed from deb and i see zimage in multiboot and zimage.item in multiboot.d

but again where did my stock one went or which folder to search further??

Ok I have removed and then reinstalled kernel-power-settings 0.13

I don't know which response you need

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v49 in Extras-Devel

you should uninstall kernel-power-settings and watch your battery consumption, for the next night and day
battery consumption might me normal after uninstall kp-settings

see: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=101
and the thread therefore http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=70436&page=10

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v49 in Extras-Devel

I have told that it happens rarely, one, two or three days of monitoring are not sufficient.

Now I have 2 o 3 weeks with normal power consumption and then one case di abnormal p.c., which then it disappears and for many days (or some weeks) it will not reappear

Since I am not using overclock I will stay without power-setting package

It happens every 2-3 days. I don't have syslogd installed, but I will attach mtd2. It looks like the kernel is crashing in the WLAN driver. It is attempting a memcmp() on a NULL variable.

Well, first of all:
Thank you the mighty one, it is not SmartReflex causing device to reboot :D

Man, are you sure you have that since you've upgraded to KP49?

Not tainted (2.6.28.10-power48 #1)

.
(memcmp+0x0/0x44) from [<bf0d32a0>] (ieee80211_bss_info_update+0x80/0x48c [mac80211])

According to your mdt oops the above has happened with KP48 too, so your information is a little misleading. Anyway, seems there is a bug in wlan driver.

@Pali - can you contact the guy who backported packet injection driver for support?

Yes, as you can see there are multiple backtraces. The last ones are from KP49.

I have reported my rebooting to you and pali for a very long time (check this thread). It's my mistake I never provided the backtraces.

Here's what I have installed:

Code:

# uname -a
Linux casper 2.6.28.10-power49 #1 PREEMPT Mon Jan 2 12:47:51 EST 2012 armv7l unknown
# dpkg -l | grep kernel-power

My apologies that your reports were not noticed, seems in all that DSP and SR stuff some bugs(out of those) are still creeping.

for those interested in saving some power, I have made some tests and measured the savings given by enabling smartreflex: about 10% when listening to music. Your mileage may vary.

After reinstall, you need to reboot phone. If there is still problem, write termial output here of apt-get.

A lot of people on this thread would disagree

http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=39091&page=8

You will probably come back with some reply saying that there was always compatibility assuming you had the right versions of drivers and so on, but the fact that people were having problems that they found difficult to resolve, means that there was a problem.

You will probably come back with some reply saying that there was always compatibility assuming you had the right versions of drivers and so on, but the fact that people were having problems that they found difficult to resolve, means that there was a problem.

If You perform (as root) 'rm -rf /', You also have a problem. With *many* programs and their versions. Yet, it doesn't mean that it's KP problem, or that Kp should care at all.

It's even less good reason to spread FUD about KP having problems with any applications, just because user doesn't know how to setup them (or, like in my extreme example, cleared them).

I don't really understand anything in your post above, I'm afraid.

I'm guessing that what you're saying is that if anyone has problems, its their own fault for not being an expert on the inner workings of Maemo and the N900.

And such people shouldn't be members of this community that supports open source software, or expect any support or guidance from it.

No.. He's saying "Stop saying X doesn't work, when it in does work, but you didn't set it up properly on your personal device." Saying KP doesn't work with FCam is like saying cars never last more than a week, when the real problem is you don't know how to put gas in a car. The better thing to do is say "Why is it my cars only last a week?", and eventually discover gas.

I haven't said it doesn't work - I've said i've had problems in the past, and so have quite a lot of other people.

Putting gas in your car is pretty straight forward - you put the thing in the hole and pull the trigger.

Unfortunately, installing stuff on the N900 isn't generally as easy as that.
