I can't use my Jolla as primary phone because

Voice call in Android Skype does not work,Jolla should work with Microsoft to bring voice chat to sailfish if they want to sell their phone or at least offer other native VoIP SIP alternatives

Does not wake up by double tap, this happens very often, unacceptable bug

That's easy - just go to one of their offices, and they will instantly work with you. Great idea!

the only real issue for me is that at random times the phone locks up, the screen is black, and the led light flashes red very quickly, sometimes green, it requires a battery pull then

Strange, Skype has worked for me so far. I did a video call without any issues. Or is it just the voice call that doesn't work for you?

jabber/xmpp ... incl. file transfer and it is perfect!

and a nice feature is if we can connect the phone to fitzbox and use it like a home phone ;)

"Resistance" to double tap only happens to me when phone is charging.

what do these rapid flashing LED codes mean? I have had it flashing green very quickly once, and i'm pretty curious about its meaning...

Led should behave like this:

white : switching on
red : switching off
pale white : charging
pale white blinking : fully charged

It also uses the same colours as your main apps to tell you if you've missed something:

green blinking : missed call
blue blinking : missed message
yellow blinking : new email

I think it happens when the homescreen environment crashes (and is subsequently automatically relaunched). But that's just my hypotesis.

My led stopped working one monta ago, is there solution to make it work again? Is there service for the led behavior?

Strange, had the rapid blinking led too this morning. Something did crash around that time I think. I lost my bluetooth connection with the carkit around the same time.

Anybody had a phone call with Jolla in which the sound on the other end turned into digital noise?

Today I called someone who was already on talking to someone else. She had the knock feature on incoming calls while on another call and chose to answer mine. After she answered my call, all I could hear was this screechig noise. I'm old enough what what ****ed up analog phonelines used to sound like. This wasn't anything like that. For lack of better way to describe it, it was 'digital ear raping'. I've been using GSM phones since 1995 and never heard voice as freaky as today.

Anyway, she called me back after her previous call was over and that went well.

Most propably nothkng to do with the handset, just your usual signalling problems in the network, some elements not selecting the correct codec or encryption keys not synchronized...
Happens all the time :)

Do you use original charger or some cheap stuff?

I have one "overpriced" USB power which with i have touchscreen issues (have to keep the phone in my hand, and feet on the floor to get it work) and another <1$ USB power which makes touch completely non-working (Designed by Abble in Califomia, Manufactured by Flextenios)
Connected to PC, my DIY batterypack, and with Jolla and Samsung (original - come with phone) chargers touchscreen works just fine.

(touch controller is first one to die caused by noise from the charger)

It's funny, but I was trying to reproduce these fails and... I can't. The phone now wakes up instantly. Maybe because of the last system update?

I tried three chargers: original, N900's and an average USB cable connected to my PC. The last one gave me double-tap issues.

Anyway, it may be my motherboard's fault. Yesterday my system froze when I connected my Jolla. And it's running Debian stable.

I've noticed that if you try to double tap to wake up the screen while your hand is too close to the proximity sensor, that's when it won't work.

I can get it happen ~1/10 try.. even without the charger.. I can hear that pulley meny click sound and when i open it, it fixed the problem and opens some of those: Camera, settings etc..

Then "new problem" in some cases (2-3x), i try to use my phone, it restart and try to recharge :O (on my hand). Is this that wireless charger :D?

Damn the search is broken!
I searched for this and found it just by browsing this thread.

I just opened a thread regarding this lock ups and the meaning of the quick red blinking.

Anyone?

i had the really quick green flashes too!
it happened yesterday and today!

yesterday it was during a call.. suddenly everything stopped, i checked my phone and it was flashing green really fast.. then it stopped after a couple seconds and resumed as normal

BUT today! i went to unlock my phone *double tap* and all it would do is flash green light really quick (when i say quick, i mean like.. continuous blinking) and the screen wouldnt turn on.. it would remain black (as if it was off) but blink green
i tried this for about 10 minutes... and then decided to leave it.
after about 30minutes i came back and tried, and the phone worked fine again

so i dont know whats happening.. but we need to find out what this blinking green light is
(and it is not the same as the pulsating green light for missed calls)

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread

Exact same behavior happened to my device yesterday (green blink, screen turn on but black)...

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread

Reseting "desktop" makes the led blink green... Same here.. reboot will fix it.

I have other problem too: Sometimes android apps closes instantly, when i try to open them. If i close all other running apps (usualy over 4). It fix the problem with android apps launch. The problem has been from the beginning 1.0.0.5 -> :(. Android not like to be in small mutitaskin covers or when it resize form/to big - small - big?

When we get update? Dave999 you set the timer? :D

I expect to have my Jolla phone in, hopefully, less than a month. Looking forward to it. I'm thinking of keeping it completely android free. Assuming this exists, would someone please provide a link of a list all non android apps that are working on Jolla Phone. Are any of them from N900 days like cutetube and catagorise?

Thanks!

I am surprised he has not started the engine! Jolla are making noises about a big update in early March. I think this was also going to be the first Full Release, i.e. non beta.

I hope we'd get some "high profile" apps some day from known developers, not only homebrew versions. Hopefully there is something happening at mwc.

Personally I like Sailfish icons much better than harmattan(and similiar Symbian icons), harmattan icons are just kind of too boring imo :P

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread

As with Nokia N9 - when you store phone numbers or any additional info. Do not add this info to the existing Facebook / Google contact card. You have to create additional contact entry with person name and then link it to the existing contact entry. It is stupid and annoing thing, however, only Jolla could fix it for their phone.

Vote to have issue solved: https://together.jolla.com/question/...ntries-unlink/

Does anyone know how much support/continued development is likely to happen for Tweetian on Sailfish? I know that the original author does not wish to continue (as it has expanded beyond his original "hobby" intentions into a big/popular bit of software).

While I like it generally, lI find it frustrating that when I view an individual reply tweet, I [usually] cannot see the tweet to which it is replying. Context is everything on Twitter. I'd love to help guide the client to handle that better, or even learn enough to contribute an enhancement, but I don't know offhand where to begin.

With so much travelling - how you use offline maps in Jolla? I haven't found a way to reliably cache the town I will visit for offline use. I try to scroll around id, hoping maps application will be smart enough to cache surrounding area, but alas - maps always ask me for connection. And in the end I have to pull out my N9 with great and reliable offline maps....
