if they were, wouldn't the vkb disappear altogether as it is on the N900 (e.g.)?

TOHKBD Kickstarter campaign is gaining interest, German tech-news site golem.de has an article about it: golem.de (German)

Maybe this will bring us closer to the magical 1000 backers mark ;)
