I'll spare them the trouble, considering it's child play to confirm it:
"Joined on Jan 2011 @ Lemberg" is written on your posts, and we're on the maemo forum. There's a search function on that blog. Let's see how difficult that would be:
- Posts about maemo on the journal
- Posts about living in Lemberg
Occam's razor says it's the same person.
Also, before claiming otherwise, you might want to edit either profile so that you don't have the exact same contact info on both websites.

F(x)tec Pro 1. Has anyone heard any news? I heard they have started shippings. So cool! How many here has ordered? Would be interesting to know all the people who have ordered the device (different forums and different reasons). How many use linux only, android only (feels awfull to think some use this android only), geeks, hackers, developers.

But because this device is android device I will through news for those who will use it as an android phone: My friends firm Appgyver released today Composer 3 and it will make so easy to make apps for this device (too bad they did not make it to work for linux but hopefully one day, have spoken for it a lot).

Oh, no no no, I don't think we can say this is an Android only device. There is an unofficial Sailfish OS for him.

Re: Are you Ready? F(x)tec Pro 1 HW Keyboard Phone

It is officially android device with capabilities to be officially something else. But there are android + hw kb fans out there so for some it will stay android only.

So are you now on N900 or what old Nokia you are talking about? I have bought many N900s in the hope of Leste to be a success. If it is not - darn. I have pwny express installed on one of them but don't know how to use it and afraid to start the deviced cause I'm scared it will hack me. When I extracted the image on my windows machine they were thrilled in the kaspersky lab. Never seen anything alike when tens of viruses attacked my machine at the same time. Wife was also happy.

Btw, we can run Maemo Leste on Fxtec pro1 eventually, even if without mainline (though mainline is not impossible either with enough interest to the device from capable people). postmarketOS runs with hybris, but I need to find time to package lots of newer Leste components for postmarketOS.

I have one and an half N900, but it's too old hard/soft/ware for me. I'm currently on a J1.

I'm not sure a 8 year old distribution is very insterresting if you want to start computer security. There are linux and android distributions more modern for this.

Maemo Leste would be dank AF on the Pro1, especially if they port or reverse engineer osso-notes!

@shaihkritzer: I read the signature but it did not mention any other than N900, even though it was dead. Thought you may have purchased another one. Have to check N93i. Not familiar with that.

There would now be one Psion Revo Plus for 35€ which I have thought. Cheaper than Gemini PDA but would look the same. My friend has also praised Nokia 9500 communicator to be awesome.

I can confirm for bootloader, instead of "unlockable", it's "unlocked" with factory state, so there is no need to manually unlock it. In theory you don't even need to boot into Android, just press vol - and power key to get to bootloader and do whatever you like.

I am working with team to upload restore firmware and tutorial for getting into bootloader etc...

PS : here, we were page ~275 and now 266, with the ban of our toy, we can noticed we had around 9 pages of trolling writen from him

EDIT : yeah !! it looks like the posting toy will come here agin ! He will continue his unique purpose of distracting us (I hope he has understood that once we will have our Pro1, he will given to a poor child without toys). I should have taken a screenshot of his last post, it was priceless :D

Does anyone know if dualboot with Android + something else is possible ?

A similar system to partitions as Planet Computers has for the Gemini, full gui with easy OS selection and disk resizing would be amazing, but any option id take

It is theoretically possible but is not something that has been implemented so far. There are two main issues:

1. It will require repartition of the device. Android encrypts the largest partition known as userdata, so it can not be used to store the alternative OS and a separate partition needs to be created like it was done on Gemini PDA.
2. Bootloader modifications to provide minimal boot menu and ability to boot from alternate boot partition (at least for dual-boot).

Thanks for the details ! :)
What about using the sd-card for storing the separate partition ? Or even directly booting on it ?
Could that be possible/easy/fast to do ?
It would have the main advantage to be more difficult to brick the device if you only need to take out the sd-card and reflash it in case of mishap. But it has probably also a lot of drawbacks I can't think of right now.

SD card can store separate partition for alternate OS rootfs, but there is no support for booting from it in bootloader, so there still has to be a way to load Linux kernel + ramdisk + dtb of main storage.

I have understood that some apps (for example banking apps) won't work if the device has unlocked bootloader. How is it with Pro1, will all Android apps work?

I don't know but doesn't they check only if the OS is rooted or not?
Do they have option (API) also of checking if bootloader is locked?

I assume they may only check if the device it is rooted - am I wrong?

I tried googling it a bit, and it seems that certain apps will check for both root and unlocked bootloader.
https://www.reddit.com/r/LineageOS/c...ke_netflix_on/

There are ways around this, the one I think is most relevant for a stock Pro1 is the modified kernel mentioned in this post. I don't know enough about it to know if that's actually applicable though. The other methods mentioned seem less like something a phone supplier would do, like using Magisk.

On a Fairphone2 with LineageOS with root, I use iSu for hiding the root. Works well.

https://customroms.net/faq/safetynet-android/

I think that reddit post was not 100% correct. I think that maybe it's more to do with an altered bootloader state compared to when the device was certified/shipped. Which would mean in the Pro1's case, safetynet would trigger if you somehow locked the bootloader. This is getting too confusing for me.

"Dank AF?" The "AF" part I get -- what the dictionary in its deadpan style calls a meaningless intensifier, -- but what's the "dank". In English it's an adjective meaning "dark and damp" and I'm pretty certain that's not the meaning here . . .

And ya, would love Leste on Pro1. Hope everybody keeps buying my eBay stuff so I can get one someday. :o

Too many people here have shown that they are unable to handle trolling, by continuously providing attention and feedback to the troll, which is primarily what drives a troll:
  • Replies to his postings
  • "Thanks!" votes

As I assume he is still around here (e.g. with his other TMO account) or other people with serious psychological distortions may show up,
  • conquering this thread with gossip again is still easily possible by the help of those "gossip multipliers".
  • nothing is structurally gained, as long as a couple of participants here cannot keep their fingers still (equivalent to "keep their mouths shut"), hence will happily act as a "gossip multiplier" at any time.

tl;dr: Trolling people do exist and hence will show up occasionally. The real bummer is, that a couple of those seemingly interested in a proper discussion were eagerly "feeding the troll" again and again, thus enabling, supporting and leveraging his efforts to suppress any other topic than the troll's own ones.

It's also worth noting that the N900's rollout was not exactly smooth sailing. I remember first-hand what a disaster the online pre-ordering system was and how much ill-will Nokia generated from that experience.

But once users got the device in their hands, the anger and frustration just seemed to melt away.

I don't think it has anything to do with the word Danke.

It most likely comes from stoner culture, 'dank weed' being common slang for years, and has been appropriated by meme culture.

That being said, dank is a term mostly associated with caves, and 'dank memes' is an appropriate name for 'memes from the dark caves of the internet'
