Now it's clear why it took so long: they had to hand carve this giant "N900-OUT-NOW" block for the maemo website.

In some countries eg. Germany it is still on preorder, although the send you to the "N900 is out page" and to the press release. Kinda :eek:

They are shipping on the 16th so if your order is within the first batch it should be with you on the 17th.

Nothing from them for me yet, I ordered from MPD on the 22/10, so may not be in the first batch - will keep an eye on my inbox and post back when I hear from them..

Ok, I have a really vague message from MPD now...
Hi,

Delivery of Nokia N900 stock into our Nokia stores has unfortunately been delayed by two weeks to w/c 16th November. The delivery when it arrives will be the first N900 stock in the UK and orders will be dispatched on a first ordered, first serve, basis directly from our Nokia stores. For those of you that have already pre-ordered and are expecting dispatch on the 30th October as previously advertised, please accept our sincere apologies and be assured that you are top of the dispatch list for a new Nokia N900. We have already seen working samples of the N900 and can assure you that it does exist and it will be very much worth the wait!

If you are unable to be at your home address for the date of delivery, and no one is able to sign for your package, Royal Mail will leave you a 'While you were out' card through your letterbox notifying you that they were unable to post the item. The card will have the name of the Post Office depot of where your item is.

Im never wrong but im right again posted this info yesterday that mobilephonesdirect said i would recieve on 17th at latest, and today i hear nokia have started shippment to all companies that require.

n900 at last we meet in a few days :D:D:D:D:D:p

rang Phones4u where i HAVE to get it from so they can buy out my current contract. They said they don't know when it will be in. probably around xmas. F**k sakes :(

The alternative is to pay out your current contract yourself, then buy the N900 unchained. Otherwise you'll just end up having the same problem next time you want to change device.

Did you email them to ask them, or they emailed you themselves? I am asking because I did not receive any email for my pre-order.

Edited: my order from MPD says "pending stock". Anyone has got a different status?

Mine says "More Info Sent" -- apparently that is because of the credit check (or so the "chat to a representative" person told me). He/she/it (?) also confirmed shipping on the 16th due to arrive on the 17th... which is mildly annoying because I will probably be in London on that date :)

Eesh, next time I'm going with an Android phone that comes out closer to its original announced ship date. Like I said earlier if Maemo is good enough to compete compared to the other platforms then the other platforms are sure to absorb some of Maemo's benefits anyway. =P

Did you order direct from Nokia UK nuknuk?
If so, I called them late this afternoon and was assured that it'll be next week NOT this week. But we know they've been wrong before :D

ok, what the heck nokia.... just want to make a fool out of me? I go and seppuku 11-9-09 and reincarnate ast 11/(14-17)/09, and you start shipping on the 10th?!?!

No, I mean um... what I meant was that we would RECIEVE the n900s from 14-17th, those who pre-ordered. Or something.

anyhow... who is getting it first? I pre-ordered mine from buy.com at the start of OCT with overnight shipping, I figure I have a pretty good shot of getting mine quick, with everyone else changing their pre-order to other sites and stuff.

Likely Nokia stores then, Amazon, then whatever's the next biggest retailer (I'd say Buy.com or Newegg). Though that depends if they're doing a..

a) ship them all to one at a one time to each retailer
or
b) ship a % to each retailer
