could be the android ''engine'' from jolla be ported to maemo and hartman , this is the real question ,maemo/and meego with android store , this would be a whole new level

They use ACL, so they license it. It's not up to them to port it (and naturally it's not redistributable).

Sailfish is partly closed source.

Nemo works on the N900 and should be compatible with Sailfish.

Sailfish looks pretty fast on an N950 -- which has roughly identical hardware to the N9.
Unfortunately for N9 owners, their hardware is quite closed. By comparison, the N900 is more open but very memory limited. It's a better bet to get Sailfish apps running satisfactorily on the N900 than on the N9 but it depends how lean Nemo becomes.

My takeaway about the hardware specs for Jolla is that they are coming to market with a dual core device and are trying to avoid being placed in the 'mediocre tech' category by focusing away from specs and towards UX. I imagine sort of like what BB10 did.

Well, that'll be labeled 'mediocre tech,' just like BB10 has been. Not bad, but not even close to what the leading companies will be producing at that time.

As far as the Android experience is concerned, the difference will be in what version of Android apps will be running in the Jolla Android environment. BB10 should have Android 4.1 running later this year, and hopefully Jolla will have something equivalent or better.

I'm tired of the justification of low specs. I remember the 'why do we need more than one core' debate as the N9 was defended. Well, the performance advantage of higher specs seems pretty well established and I still wish the N9 had two cores to work with. I'm sure that they would have been put to good use.

On the positive side, the Jolla UI seems very nice, and probably would have been PR1.4 if Elop hadn't messed things up! I hope that Sailfish comes to the N9 soon, as I have no intention to sell mine and I'm hoping my N9 lasts a while longer.

For 'normal' consumers, specs are like everything (beside social and games). For 'people' in TMO, they have seen that lower specs doesn't mean bad, just like the N900.
