Re: N900 shipping delayed
I just contacted Newegg, they didn't even know Nokia announced they're shipping info like over 10 hours ago. They even said that Nokia told them to delay it till the 30th :(.
Anyway, once I linked them to the press, they said they'll forward it to their purchasing department. So, if enough of us that pre-ordered from Newegg pester them about the phone and give them the link to the press, we might actually get it early :D. To be honest, I might cancel my pre-order and just buy it at the flagship store if they have it first. But of course, I'll wait till next Wednesday to make the decision. |
Re: N900 shipping delayed
The reason why MPD is getting the N900s about 2 weeks earlier than newegg/play/amazon etc is because they are the operator of the Official Nokia Retail Stores in the UK, so obviously have closer links to the company. I think 30th Nov is standard for other websites, heck even play.com the biggest website to be stocking the thing in the UK is saying 30/11

Re: N900 shipping delayed
It better be all its hyped up to be when i get mine on tuesday 17th as said by MPD :D:D:D:D
cant wait i'll call you all when i get so that you guys know what its like and it might even break up the 2 weeks :D extra wait for those who have to wait till end of the month :D:D:p |
Re: N900 shipping delayed
Newegg are telling me that the date was pushed by Nokia. Which begs the question WHAT THE ****?
We get an official launch finally and then immediately a 2 week delay on actual units being in anyones hands. Seems a little bait and switch like to me. I have seen better launches than this I have to say. |
Re: N900 shipping delayed
i agree but they say the phones destined for good things which means in time it could be great but with very little for the n900 at the minute theres definatly been better launches
Its so nokias official stores can release first |

1) Nokia wasn't sure themselves so they decided to tell everyone put the date as 30th just in case. 2) Nokia intends to ship to 3rd party retailers around the 30th. If it's the second, well that's a dangerous game they're playing burning goodwill like this. Even I'm starting to get irritated at them about it. |

Re: N900 shipping delayed
Laughing Man it must be option 2 as MPD said to me on live chat that they will recieve first and relese first before any other retailer and that i should recieve on the 17th

Its one thing for me to be patient when a date has not been announced. Quite another for them to announce the shipping and then force all third party distributors to take a 2+ week delay. One week I could POSSIBLY see. Two just seems like a BS move |
Re: N900 shipping delayed
well i think the 2 week delay will turn out to be alot less more like a few days, i guess what normally happens is they give MPD and nokia stores a couple of days to get there pre orders out and for customer to recieve then they will prob give go ahead for others to sell

Like I said, you people who pre-order, you better start pestering them about it. Also, I don't mind people who haven't pre-order it from Newegg to help out :p. |
Re: N900 shipping delayed
We'll see. I wasn't going to be able to get it (as in open the box) till mid next week anyway assuming if Newegg shipped it out that Saturday when they received it (though in reality it'll probably take them a day or two to process the pre-order since they're a little slow when it comes to charging). and it arrived sometime on Tuesday (and I wouldn't be back home till Thursday at least).
I was hoping to have it before the pre-Thanksgiving party my girlfriend and I are throwing on the 21st for our old college friends and our new friends in graduate school to test out the camera, play some tunes, try out the TV out, etc.. |
Re: N900 shipping delayed
Forgot to mention one thing. I called NOKIA USA up, this is what I got:
Me: When will the N900 be available? Rep: At the end of November? Me: Didn't Nokia just announced they're shipping over 10 hours ago? Rep: At the end of November? Me: Umm... Nokia just announced they're shipping over 10 hours ago? Rep: Eeeeh... Our Warehouse.... eeeh,...umm... end of November. I just hanged up after that. Also, yes, that was literally the response I got. |

Re: N900 shipping delayed
so shipping has started. so from 1 point to another there are ships/planes/trucks leaving to another point.
hmm . interesting . ------> . -----> . -----> . factory to main warehouse europe. - china in seacontainers to europe = 2 - 3 weeks - finland to main warehouse in europe. truck/boat, around 1 week tops. main warehouse to local sellers - 1-3 days local sellers to customers - depends on shipping method. 1-5 days all the inside warehouse's logistics not accounted for. storage, unloading, loading trucks, 1-2 days. so all in all, i'd say it should be around 2 weeks from now. in the worst case 5 weeks. :o |

1) If Nokia waited till now to move the product from China (though I think they're being made in Korea not China) I can easily say they have the worst logistical plans from any electronic company I have bought products from. There is no excuse for that (unless it's a manufacturing problem). Now new shipments of the product once the intial stockpile in the warehouses diminishes, that I understand. 2) Why would they be moved to Finland? Wouldn't they ship them directly to the country where they are being sold? Unless they're stress testing each one of them. |
Re: N900 shipping delayed
no its one of the two. what i understood was that the units are manufactured in asia/finland. still all speculation my post.
|
Re: N900 shipping delayed
Now we even have "experts" here who know that they ship from CHINA to Finland? Stop guessing what you don't know!
|
Re: N900 shipping delayed
We all use the term shipping but i don't think in this case they will be using actuall ships to deliver our precious to us . More like 747 cargo .

More lies. Apple business model is to pay fake journalists to make biased reviews. This is really annoying.
