I have to admit dave, you had me in stitches (laughing heavily) with that response, I am tired though.

Btw there are around five more people on the homepage to ask and AFAIK Jukka also has answered some of the questions posted at facebook/twitter etc... from me and others.

I've spoke to Carsten & made my peace with him, he was offended by some comments of mine (& others), & so decided not to help any more. He has said though, that he'll try to continue the initiative via someone else, if they decide they're happy to do so. It may turn out that it's no longer needed at all, because a better User/Dev <--> Sailfish(Jolla) interface is coming, I'll need to speak to that person 1st though.

So he was a fended by a few and so he decided to ignore the whole TMO community? not judging it just a question. I'm not saying Carstens should help us with this. But it's pretty poor not to help the majority becouse of criticism from a few.

It's pretty hard to be a leading dev, project leader / manager. You never get the appreciation you deserve. Just deal with it :)

Good. My opinion is that they would do far better to replace him with someone who can interact with the public and make them feel excited and welcomed. If it means he can concentrate on his talents while someone else takes up the communications efforts, I think it was a fairly good maneuver on his part. Not everyone can maintain a friendly rapport with the communities and they should EXPECT it to be thankless but an expert communicator can accelerate things far, far more than technical expertise alone and that in itself can be gratifying to someone who is good.

Well, after scrum comes developer anarchy. Fire all staff except developers. Working great!

Jolla might try that. However, they are possibly missing one or two ingredients devs so far.

If I were Jolla, I would take this entire thread as indicative of the loud minority that no matter what will never be fully happy with your product...

That is if I were a cynical, heartless bastard that figures that marketing is a limited, finite resource with only so many targets that you can hit.

More importantly, with Jolla giving May 10th as the day to look forward to, they need to look at an advertising campaign.

I propose a virtual Eduard Khil singing "Jollalollalol lollalol lollalol" while using an iPhone as a shaver (with the iShave app), spreading butter on his toast with a Lumia 920 and using his Samsung Mega as a set of bathroom scales.

Well this has always been the epic off-topic thread, hence the sub-forum it's now in...
There's others that are slightly more focussed/targeted, to the point that the community has been asked to report posts/folks that derail them.

That is one why to look at it. Another is the that the words are free here while the other threads are like north korea.

Nah this thread's more like North Korea; it has no direction, is a giant circus/stage-show, & is in a constant state of fear/purgatory.
But that's okay, variety is the spice of life, this thread's for almost total noise, the other's are slightly more focused/targeted.

jolla changing CEO again. WTF. Its a joke compiny changing CEO that often.

its like,oh its monday: put your hand up if you want to be CEO this week.

come on, Be serious, the CEO position is nothing you joke about.

Re: JollaMobile : Jolla continues Nokia's excellent work on #MeeGo based smartphones

I don't know about that.

It might turn out to be a positive that they have the flexibility to substitute the right person for the job as they progress through each stage of development and delivery.

I don't really see a massive downside other than maybe it goes against the norm and some people may be confused.

Why do you feel like that?

As a job description CEO is just another job in a company. I have understood that at Jolla the people try to rotate jobs as much as possible, it's a kind of agile method, everybody learns by doing and supports each other.

In a startup CO that's quite possible to do, when all people work in one room or one floor of a building. In a larger company, it would not be possible.

stickymick 2013-05-03 09:27

Re: JollaMobile : Jolla continues Nokia's excellent work on #MeeGo based smartphones

I guess it's a sensible thing to do for Marc to hand over to someone with better experience at driving a juggernaught on the open road than them continuing to have the engine developer at the wheel.
Just hope the new CEO has got a good track record and hasn't left a trail of trashed companies in his wake.

when ever you bring in a new leader, they will implement their way of working. On the toplevel positions, changes takes time, So there is a reason why (Great) high level managers stay on longer than 6 months.
