I know it's highly doubtful, but I hope Nokia will give us an upgrade path to the newer tablets. I know they didn't do it before... but it would be a nice way to show their appreciation for those of us that have been trying to help the tablets improve through bugzilla or code contributions.

Wishful thinking.

I think they have -15% for going from 770 to n800 at the moment. I'm not saying that that would be a big deduction, but some still.

The n800 will be supported for at least the next two major releases according to the news item on maemo.org not so long ago (http://maemo.org/news/announcements/...84675758.html), so that provides some sort of upgrade path.

I'm just hoping that this new device has a built-in keyboard!

No, it doesn't.

For him to have said that, maybe he just has a different opinion on what upgrade path means.

I'm hoping for a transflective screen!

Yes. I was meaning that the N800 will have software support and (I therefore presume) updates for the next two releases.

I suppose that the developer discount programme is really the "hardware upgrade path" zerojay was talking about.

I'm going to ask an ignorant question. Could the FCC documents filed so far for the 3rd tablet be incomplete with respect to the testing that was done for the connectivity options? In other words, does Nokia have to necessarily disclose all the connectivity options now, or could they follow up at a later date with an addendum to the specs and test report?

Remember, this is the FCC doing the testing, not Nokia, and any "unpublished" findings would be seen as favoritism and would be illegal. If Nokia "amended" their device it would be a new device and would have to be retested.

If the rx-44 had WiMAX, wouldn't it have a WiMAX mac address listed on the fcc label?
Assuming it doesn't that means:
1. Nokia will be releasing two ( or more ) tablets pretty soon, or
2. WiMAX will be an add-on device such as a usb or sdio card.

To learn more technical details about WiMAX, check the link below. Evidence that WiMAX uses a mac address is on page 27. Definition of SS on page 10.
