Re: Sandisk MicroSDs don't seem to work
Got it working again! :)
When I last removed the miniSD adaptor from the N810 I also took out the microSD card, and when I put it all back together again I jammed the microSD card as firmly into the miniSD card as I could - bad idea! Pushing the card hard into the adapter seems to prevent the adapter/card/N810 combination from working... to get it working again I pulled the microSD card out of the miniSD adapter and this time re-inserted it gently - I didn't push it in any futher once I felt the miniSD adapter "grip" the microSD card. Then I slipped the miniSD adapter into the N810 and clicked it home by using the stylus to push on the adapter and NOT the card (so that I didn't push the card any further into the adapter). Works for me! :) |
Re: Sandisk MicroSDs don't seem to work
I purchased a Sandisk 8 GB SDHC (SDSDQR-8192) and used the adapter of the Kingston card (which ships with the SDC/2GB-2ADP or 1 GB for a few euros, including the memory card). This works perfectly fine on my N810. Woohoo!

Re: Sandisk MicroSDs don't seem to work
I too have a Sandisk 8GB microSDHC(SDSDQR-8192-A11M) and I too used it with a Kingston mini adapter(it came with a 4GB Mobility kit MBLY/4GBKR) and it didn't work. Both the microsdhc and the Kingston kit are rated class 4. I am using build 2.2007.51-3, which as of this time, I think, is the latest OS2008. When I take the card out of the adapter and use it on other devices, including XP via a usb adapter, it works fine. When I use the N810 via a USB cable to my PC, windows can't see it. Also, I've used my 8GB with other mini adapters on other devices and there are no problems. After doing some searching, Nokia seeems to have problems with Sandisk 8GB microsdhc in other products too, including cell phones. I think this is a Nokia kernel problem, but I have no idea why the previous post with the same sandisk card and Kinston adapter works. fredz, could you tell me what OS version you are using? BTW I also tried formatting the card with Windows XP as well, and it made no difference.
Also, to muddy the water even further, there were several similar OS800 bugs, albeit with N800: #2073 https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2073 #1204 https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1204 |
Re: Sandisk MicroSDs don't seem to work
I had a strange experience when I had a corrupt Kingston 4gb micro SDHC card which worked fine for about 3 weeks. I had never taken it out of the N810 only using the USB connector. Then a few days ago I was trying to install KDE so I used a Sandisk Micro- SD adapter. XP would not reconnect the card and then attempting to put it back into the N810 resulted in "Corrupt Card" message. I tried a few different things but neither tablet, XP or Ubuntu was able to see the card. Eventually out of all options I started looking at return options since the card has a lifetime warranty and on a whim while emailing support at Kingston, I put the card into my N75 which isn't even compatible with SDHC. That device at least recognized a card but delivered the corrupt card message too and would not format. I then placed the card back in the N810 and voila it read the card and then plugged in via USB the XP machine read the card.
Anyway I have no idea what the issue was but regardless thats pretty unreliable I will be careful to do backups more often. |
Re: Sandisk MicroSDs don't seem to work
I think it's the adapter. I have a 6 GB Micro SD card that did not work with the first adapter I tried, even though it worked in everything else. I bought a second adapter (also Sandisk) and it works happily. Try a different adapter and see if that resolves the issue. Let me join in with the complaint about going to miniSD, instead of standard SD. I would gladly have accepted a device that was a few centimeters bigger for the convenience of a full SD slot.

Re: Sandisk MicroSDs don't seem to work
Hi There, I'm new in this forum. I wanted to ask you guys if this A-DATA 16GB SDHC .class 6 would work with my N810.
Any ideas. Thank you for your patience . Peace. RRC |
Re: Sandisk MicroSDs don't seem to work
For the record, I got this to work on my n810:
Sandisk MicroSD to MiniSD Adapter http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000TLXCDW SanDisk 8GB microSDHC Card CLASS 2 (SDSDQ-8192, Bulk Package) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012Y2LLE Full story (note: I am a n810 newb): when I first entered this into my miniSD slot, I got the "Memory card corrupt or unformatted error". After some fruitless experimentation with my PC, I tried again. This time I pushed it in harder & it clicked into place. Obviously, the first time I didn't push it in far enough. Live & learn! |
Re: Sandisk MicroSDs don't seem to work
Just got my n810 last week and been looking to get a micro card. Having read through this thread decided to avoid SanDisk (more so the adapters) so have gone for Kingston;
8Gb Card for Storage And 4Gb just for the Adapter Fingers crossed they work! |
Re: Sandisk MicroSDs don't seem to work
If it helps anyone else the Kingston 8Gb Micro + Kingston Mini adapter work right out of the box on first attempt.

Re: Sandisk MicroSDs don't seem to work
Hi All!
Just to chime in, in case somebody could use the information about a card that works: I purchased a Patriot 8GB MicroSD SDHC (class 4) today, which came with both an SD and MiniSD adapter, for $24.99 from Canada Computers. Within moments of getting it home, I was filling it with data from my Ubuntu box, and it worked flawlessly in my N810. 8GB is very capacious! If you're looking for an affordable card that works (at least in one case), consider the Patriot 8GB Micro SD! I only post this here because I consulted the forum before purchasing a card (I was *just* about to by sandisk too!) and took a chance on the Patriot. I figure this information could help somebody looking for a card that works. YARR! }:^)~ Corrupt SDHC |
