Well, I'd like everyone to know that I have purchased $10 worth of credits because the service is good enough for me to use as is. My hope is that the service becomes worthwhile enough to 770 users to do the same. I don't think it's enough to sopport the gtalk2voip team, but I'll be doing my part while enjoying the great service and will continue to help in testing other features Ruslan is trying to include.

Sure I can send it, but there're many ppl who use other domains, like google.com, or jabber.org, so it is impossible to mask them by a single domain gtalk2voip.com. Anyway, I'll try to do it.

Regards,
Ruslan.

Hello Mara. We have had a number of testings yesterday with several guys who own N770 devices. In most cases things worked well, except some invitation problem (it leads to googletalk crash on Penguinbait's N770, which is odd). If you still unable to make phone/SIP calls using our gateway, pls contact me in googletalk so we could find the reason. Thank you.

Regards,
Ruslan.

No problem. It's a wonderful idea, and there are alot of great ideas that could use as much support as possible. It's really the way things should be: Start a project as an experiment [in this case based on Open Source Software] -> Gain intrest and support from the community [again OSS comunity and users of the service] -> Assess the sustainability, reliability, and flexibility of the product/service -> From there, you can decide fate of the project and grow from there. :D

It really is a good feeling to support such a well deserved service that has had a noticable amount of thought and effort put into its creation.

I will continue to support this great service as long as the service continues to be great. Much success to your ideas Ruslan. :)

Ruslan, Don't get me wrong, I really like this to work on both ways. As it stands now (tested this morning), the behavior is consistent that I can not receive calls originated from phones (Vonage VoIP or Cell phone). I seem to have the same problem as Penguinbait, as Gtalk crashes on 770 every time call is coming in. I have added the contacts to my contact list but still it does not let the calls get through. I have had no problems on placing outgoing calls from 770. Only the receiving side has the problem.

I'll try to PM you via Gtalk once I see you online and I have time...

After the googletalk client crashes, if you click on the two guys on the left, between the bookmarks and the menu, you will see at the bottom, below "Set presence" the way to authorize the incomming call, it will always fail the first time ( for me and perhaps Mara ), can anyone else configrm this behavior? Can anyone accept an invitation without the problems I am experiencing?

Mara also if you login to a windows client you will easily see the invitation, one you accepted it on the account, that caller can call without needing to accept the invitation on the 770, but you can do it on the 770 with the above instructions

FYI, I purchased 10$ worth a week ago and have been working on this and it is quite impressive. I really can't wait until they put out a final OS, this will be something really worth your money.

Has anyone been able to make a call for less than 6 cent a minute?, everytime I try to use cheaper providers I just get garble...

Penguinbait: Thanks for the tip. In fact by following your instructions I was able to receive phone call with 770 from my Vonage home phone! :) However, the same did not work when I tried to call from my cell phone... In Windows I don't recall seeing the invitation at all, the Gtalk always rings and I can pick up the call without authorizing. Both of my phones (home and cell) are in my contact list so they should be "authorized"?

Have you guys noticed that the mic sensitivityof 770 is set at max at first before you start talking? In my case the 770 mic picks up all the background noise until I start talking and the (automatic) gain control sets the mic gain to a correct level...

I have been able to have calls for around 2 cents a minute. The numbers I've tested have been New Orleans, LA [I'm in Georgia]. I think most of the local numbers are around 2 cents per minute as well. If I'm not mistaken, there is a way to rate service providers based on price somewhere on the gtalk2voip site.

I do notice some minor issues with Google Talk acting strange at times, and even more often when connectiong directly to another Google Talk user. Sometimes the person on the other end can hear me but I can't hear them. It usually takes about 2 or 3 reconnects to get a decent connection. I have a feeling that a large percentage of the problems Ruslan is having with gtalk2voip compatiblility on the 770 must be due to the OS being beta and Google Talk not fully bug free either.

Voice quality overseas call

I made a call from 770 (US) to cell phone (Finland) using Gtalk2voip service. The voice quality was very good both ways with very little, if any, lag. Certainly on par with my Vonage service. Althought the cost is not any cheaper than with Vonage, this is nice addition for "on the go" situations.
