Re: Maemo Summit accommodation

Anyone staying at the Mövenpick near Centraal station? That's where I ended up getting accommodation at...believe it or not, was able to get a room there for just 15e more a night than it would have cost at Hotel Ibis near Centraal station!

I had corresponded with some of my Dutch friends who said that Hotel Ibis Amsterdam City West is nearest to the Summit, but in terms of transportation (not having to change buses) Hotel Ibis near Centraal station would be your best bet.

so for someone not being sponsored by nokia, seeking accomodation where most other participants are staying, how to proceed?

it seems the ibis amsterdam center hotel might be where most of us will be staying. how can i find someone to share a room with?

thanks, i already read that page though. it seemed pretty straight forward for those that are sponsored participants - but for me not being one, can i still add my name to the list of people who want to share a room?

It looks like we need to de-book many unused rooms from the group reservation. Does anybody have an idea about how many sponsored people are staying out of this group so we know how many rooms are actually empty?

No idea. But, I was thinking of adding all of the "undeclared" sponsored attendees to the table in order that we can figure that out. I just didn't know when we should forgo people doing it on their own and start making some executive decisions like that.

I'm staying at a measly hostel , which suffices for me. Didn't apply for sponsorship originally, as I thought there would be more worthy creatures than myself. Sorry to see so many unused rooms now. Process needs to be re-worked for next year.
(Alas, Iwill prefer a developer device to an expensive sponsored hotel :-)

Re: Maemo Summit accommodation

I'd say "we" should send out an email to all the sponsored attendees asking them to add their details to the page, that should then give some idea of who has already found somewhere, who needs somewhere, etc.

People can then choose whether they want a sharing room, or put themselves down as having found something else, looking, etc.

The responsibility should be on the attendee really rather than the Council/Quim/other people organising.

Another question: it looks like I will be arriving a day earlier (I had hoped to attend the co-create session but will not be it turns out). Instead of rescheduling my flight again I want to pay for the extra night. Is it possible I could get the same room I'll get under sponsorship? If so, how?
