Re: [User feedback request] Shepherd
Is any progress here?

Re: [User feedback request] Shepherd
Still waiting to see what (sub)version of Qt PR1.1 will bring.

Re: [User feedback request] Shepherd
I suggested a facility elsewhere that someone said Shepherd might manage - activate voip availability only when on wifi. Is that possible?
Hope Nokia sorts out your Qt problems soon.. That sucks. |
Re: [User feedback request] Shepherd
There is no obstacle to that on Shepherd's side, the question is if Maemo itself allows such a thing (via a script, system or DBUS call). If it does, Shepherd will certainly support it as a course of action upon wifi (dis)connection.

Re: [User feedback request] Shepherd
So how much overlap is there here with the Tweakr project?

These comments are definitely getting out of scope here. This one sounds like a whole other application; unless you separate it into the scheduler part and <a.n.other> application that it can run (with params if need be) when the time/battery level/other sensor is reached. As long as you make it easy to make it choose the application to run (which could then even be a script if people want more control, some provided by default perhaps for basic stuff like killing an app if running, setting config values like wifi stuff etc) then it should be useful for lots of things. So shepherd just ends up being an extension on the basic 'cron' daemon but with a nice user interface to configure it (and maybe some programmatic way too). Is there a cron daemon on the n900/maemo devices by default? Or does it run a custom scheduler for alarms etc. Or is there one in the repos? |
Re: [User feedback request] Shepherd
Shepherd IS a glorified scheduler :) It's pretty pluggable, i.e. you have inputs and actions and can define actions for specific combination of input parameters. I will naturally make (and already did) a few 'default' input and action plugins to provide basic functionality - for more complex inputs and actions I'm just trying to keep it as open ended as possible, so interested parties could implement those with minimum effort even if I personally don't have the time or knowledge to do it.

Re: [User feedback request] Shepherd
feature request: ability to let battery level trigger a script, such as 20% battery --> disconnect all 2g/3g/wlan connections, leave only cellular connection active.
or battery life 5% --> switch to offline mode. (good to still be able to access your calendar, for example). the last option could be called "madagascar mode" (refererring to the game "pandemic 2". http://knowyourmeme.com/i/6911/origi...gif?1248839462 |
Re: [User feedback request] Shepherd
feature request:
option to prompt user for action on a schedule or a task criteria being met, so for example, if i have it set to do X when charging via usb, or have it disconnect wifi when battery is <15% i can also tick a prompt user input. and when that happens i can confirm disconnect wifi or run task or "no" don't run or do it. that way i can have silent and non silent schedules/tasks Also a profiles feature: the ability to save and select different schedule/task profiles. so i may be on holidays from work so i don't want my timed work tasks to annoy me or limit my usage etc so i can switch to a different profile with a different set of rules. that way i leave all my "normal" day to day life stuff untouched. Edit: also just thought about rules for doing things. the example of "if it detects being pluged into a computer via usb, do action" Having the possibility of having time-frame included. i may want a rule to activate when plugged in for a pc for extended periods but if i'm just transfering a file quickly or somthing short i don't need the rule kicking in, if usb connection = yes and connection time = +5min then run rule. something like that. |
Re: [User feedback request] Shepherd
now PR1.1 is out, I guess you know what version of Qt is included :)
Can we expect a first version soon to test ? I'm having lots of wild ideas already to extend basic functionality of the device (in specific areas of course). thanks |
