hi there, couple of questions:

1. is this the cheapest total cost plan to include a data plan?

2. is this an unlocked and non-crippled n900?

3. what does this: "Web Browsing & Sending Data £1 Per Day Maximum" mean?

4. never had a contract before, what happens if you bust the handset, will they send a new one, and how much will they charge?

5. presumably, when the contract ends they don't ask for the handset back?

5) No, its yours to keep or if you're like me, I always sell it after a year (12 months contract) so recoup about 50-70% of the value.Then I buy another top notch phone on 12-months contract. :)

i get by quite happily on £10 of PayG credit per month for texts and calls, so really i want the cheapest contract that gives me data, which sounds like this one i think.

the mobilephonesdirect insurance FAQ states:

My phone has just stopped working?
If you have not damaged the phone by accident, and you bought the phone less than a year ago, it is likely that the handset is covered by the manufacturer's warranty. In this case please go to the repair section on our website. If you purchased the phone in excess of a year ago, call the claim line on 0844 576 2263.

seems like it covers most the bases, and possibly worth it on a phone that notionally costs £400+..............

what do you guys reckon?

It's the cheapest we've found so far. In fact it's surprisingly cheap and maybe it will be withdrawn before the device ships.

All the evidence suggests that it is unlocked and non-crippled, but of course we can't guarantee that.

It means if you get a contract that doesn't include data, you will be charged up to £1 per day for internet access. If you get a contract that includes "web'n'walk", "mobile internet" or similar, you don't pay this charge.

You get a normal device warranty, but if you lose the phone or break it (e.g. by dropping it or wetting it) you would be charged the full unsubsidised price if you wanted T-Mobile to replace it. You aren't forced to replace it, but you would still need to pay the monthly charge for the remainder of the contract.

Correct. You can sell it, continue to use it with the same carrier, put different SIM cards in it, without restriction.

As you've not had a contract before, you should be aware of one more thing: you are normally expected to set up a direct debit arrangement for the monthly charge. This direct debit also collects payment for any "extras" you incur (e.g. calls above your included bundle, or calls to premium rate numbers, or data access while roaming internationally).

Woo, I finally gave in and pre-orderd from Mobile Phones Direct on the T-Mobile Combi 25 + Web'n'Walk contract.... Let the waiting commence...

It came with three months free insurance, so I just went with that. Don't usually insure my phones to be honest, ends up costing the earth.

be careful, from my reading of things the default option is for the payments to kick in on month four, unless you don't want it in which case you should dustbin the insurance option on the buy page.

Hmm, can't say I saw anything about paying for insurance after 3 months. I will call to make sure though, thanks for the heads up.
