the dell has the same pixel *count* but a lower resolution (pixels per square unit).

the n800, to me, seems optimal for resolution and size, maybe I'm getting old but I'd happily make it larger and more readable, the dell looks as if it has potential if android can be bypassed to run "on the metal"

For example, the next step up from your scenario is using video out to an external monitor.

That's why I mention a KVM. I want to be able to use my devices with keyboard, possibly mouse, and monitor. Or, for a media playing device, attach it to my TV to play movies and such.

Crap. Everyone, please yell out loud the following command to lock the root thought account.

$sudo passwd -l root

Sorry but thats an oxy*****. Usable and on-screen are two things that are mutually exclusive

By the way discovered a cool thing about the n900 today using the emulator. If you start typing on the keyboard at the main desktop - it looks up the contact with those letters.

Ie I type bil - would look up Bill Jones etc

Probably everyone already knew that - but I didnt

This device is big indeed, but comparing to a slipper? Ahahaha, surely the funniest size comparison I have yet seen in my life...

they should've used a Nokia slipper :P

Also, I like keys (and I think many of the people who got the N900 do), so that thing isn't what the N900 should've been
